Hello, thank you for taking the time to film your cue building skills and sharing your wisdom. I noticed you did not use tapering bars when turning the butt down to size. May I ask you to share your setup method to get the correct taper?

This is an old method that I was using years ago, but works great. Simply offset your tailstock by .200" and you are good to go.

I would like to see a video on materials used in cue building, such as: phenolic, plastics, metals... Also, I think it should contain advice about glues used in cue building and what kind of glue is compatible with those materials and please keep in mind you have an international audience so please dont use brand names like Gorilla Glue and use instead polyurethane wood glue and such. I am enjoying your videos so far and keep up the good work.

Wouldn't installing the pin before tapering the cue result in a crooked pin and joint face? Your method seems much easier than indexing a tapered cue and then installing the pin, but I am afraid I will add a wobble to the stick.

@KQKQ23 no sir, it's just the opposite. It ensures that the pin is centered.

On this cue it looks like you used a threaded joint between the forearm and handle. Is this your prefered method or do you prefer a wood core through out the whole cue butt?

I am just in the process of gaining the skills to build my first cue. This is why I am asking.

Hi, All of my cues have a mechanical "A" joint. I would never suggest a wooden joint although some do it.
