probably the most accurate tutorial my friend. thanks for sharing this with us all. in my 62 finally understood what that genius guitarist is playing. thanks again
I have to agree with Marceloriighiii: We will never get sick of your great guitar playing! Your tutorials are the BEST. I believe you're an absolute genius. Your methodology and straightforward approach place a learning guitarist in a position he or she can really understand what's going on in a simple manner, without irrelevant details that only distract!!! Again, THANK YOU AND YAWEH BLESS!!!
Thanks so much for making this tutorial. You added some of the small details I can here in the song that some people left out of their tutorial videos. I can now play my favorite guitar solo all the way now thanks to you!
one of the first solos I learned. A great one for practicing bends and vibrato. Gilmour's solos are not technically complicated, but getting the tone and feel are really difficult.
Fantastic video. One key difference that I noticed between David's solo and yours is the last note of the phrase that you're holding over 2:06-2:07 - David plays it one fret higher and bends, enabling him to drop a semitone(ish) during the latter phase of the note. :) I know, picky, but really changes the feel of that phrase to me.
Thanks for another amazing in depth tutorial, love how you always get the bits to sound right that other tutorials never quite manage to get! I think I've commented before but was wondering if you could do a tutorial for the Live version of the 2nd solo for Money (whether this is Pulse or Pompeii or whichever performance you think sounds the best) as I only have 21 Frets so struggle to play the studio version played on a 24 fret guitar :)
Was playing the Time solo a few months back. Not quite that good, lol. Time to work on it again. And thanks for your signal chain settings! Your tone was right on.
This is how it should be done! You have described the setting, the effect pedals etc… and is what 98% of the online instructors DO NOT DO. Fantastic job! Getting the sound as close as possible is just as important as a practice it takes to playing it right. If someone is learning how to do things and they’ve got the sound they can pick up so much more when it sounds close and they practice it
Amazing performance again. Still busy learning telegraph road tho! Really glad that I came across your channel. Keep it up. Would also be so cool if you could do a turtorial on sultans of swing alchemy live!
Hi Kelly, recently found your channel. It's great! You have a natural way of teaching and playing. I would love to know what gear you're using for your tutorials - for example in this tutorial are you using a plugin or amp and pedals to get into the realm of Gilmour's sound?
For the performance of this one I used bias FX2 plugins in Reaper (DAW). For the tutorial part in just using my little Blackstar ID Core 20 practice amp.
i must say you got the way to explain evrything, and Today I play my first solo in time. Of course here and ther I still need time to feel more comfortable like the rest, but i'm do it, Every solo that I try in the past. I came to a wall and I didn't want to burn ,and I let it go and move to another one (so many good solo out ther) This time i try on 75% speed and move to 100, and it so much fun ,you never Get tired to play It. just get more comfortable and try to Sharp it. Any suggestion on solo in this level for the next one?
go listen to the album version then this. It's one of the most accurate renditions. There are so many bad versions out there that the original gets lost. I would say however that on the album version there are cuts and overdubs and the main echo changes especially in the first few bars so to play it on one set of settings is not possible. This and Sparky guitar ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h89N3PeiBZ8.html are the most accurate on RU-vid.
You are obviously a troll , jog on little boy an go try ya luck elsewhere, an leave proper hardworking genuine musicians that want to help others with there progressing like this good man is doing , an doing so well at it 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌, If you can give give you youre so precious time to do wot he does an think you’re better , we’re all ears mate just send us all you’re link 🤔
Absolute masterpiece of a solo. it emotionally takes its toll on me to try to play it accurately. Re creating the sound affects like Gilmour... the timing of it, it's a lot harder than it appears/ Great job !!
The only thing I would add is that I think he used the whammy bar subtly at times, and the effects are important. Some kind of fuzz and delay, and obviously reverb.
Well - I maybe spent more "time" on this than I should've, but what a satisfying feeling at the end!!! One of my favourite sounding solos flat out, and now I'm playing it. I've never tried to pick up someones original solo before this. I always just fake my way around the minor pentatonic scales. You were born to teach man! You have a direct and sympathetic approach. I'm a little late to the party. I only just picked up on you about a month ago, I think. I'm so glad that you popped up in the algorithm and were suggested to me. Looking forward to digging through more of the back catalogue and the new videos to come. I recognize that you're a fellow Canadian. Any thoughts of ever doing a Max Webster song like say Lip Service. It may not draw large international numbers but us folks at home would sure enjoy it. Just thoughts anyway. Thanks
Absolutely killer thanx for sharing well explained wanna ask if you can give me some pointers to get a nice rock tone on my amp I’m a beginner/intermediate been trying to find a good tone Thanx in advance
It's weird seeing people rehash a guitar solo from 50 years ago { that I learned from a record 40 years ago ) still being analyzed . Gilmour said none of his solos were thought out .. He would record 2 or 3 ..and take the best .. Then he is stuck playing them forever afterwards. I heard people complain when he has deviated at all from the originals.
Awesome performance/demo Kelly! As usual! This is a solo I learned a long time ago but I’m going to review your lesson to pick up some pointers and tips and thank you also for the tone beta 👍👍🎸🎸❤️❤️
I love to jam this one. It never gets old. I usually play it on my old Black Strat through the distortion channel of my Blackstar Club 40 with reverb on about 6 and crank it. I use a delay, uni-vibe, compression and a tube screamer just as a boost. Oh and it doesn’t hurt to have a noise gate lol.
Man you got such a good ear and so much patience getting theses solo's so right. When I play this solo in my band or a band I improvise it and shorten it. Because you know most people in the bar are just listening to the song its such a great song and not worried too much about the solo or not at all lolo. I do try and get the vocal right thou they notice that when its off lol great totorial i learned some new parts to add thanks for posting
