The secret is to give realistic and simple examples and a simplified explanation from a practical point of view. For psychology students: ACF/PACF is EXACTLY mediation effect (with the notatio of X>Z goes through X-Y-Z, C being full X-Z, and C' is direct only X-Z, controlling for Y)
