I started my current character on Siptah, specifically so I could get the vault armors. Because the right combo of those makes you basically unaffected by cold and heat. And one of the helmets is basically an underwater breathing mask with better armor. So now that I am in the exiled lands, I don't really have to think about bringing things to cool me down or heat me up when I run around doing stuff.
I have only seen 1 sabretooth cub and 1 frost wolf cub in this play thru (my 3rd). I usually use the witch fire torches because they seem to be brighter than the other torches. 👍👍
If anyone is playing single player, it is not even worth waiting up in the frozen north for star metal to fall. It does not fall very often. Way easier way to farm star metal is just kill a bunch of Cimmerian NPCs in the Mounds of the Dead area. They often drop star metal weapons. Then you can just dismantle the weapons = Get a bunch of star metal bars. If you loot the chests inside their huts you might also find star metal tools, great farming spot
healing arrows are good during purges take a couple thralls back outa the way and give em healing arrows. They shoot into the mosh pit and heal your guys. Noxious arrows are good too they'll dot up the enemy. Still want the main archers with good arrows the razor or hardened steel though to kill enemy archers.
Torches have always been a piss poor light source when you need to see what you're doing. I use braziers when I actually want light. Now mood lighting--like in the tavern--torches all the way.
Yeah, this works pretty well. Star metal farming in the Savage Wilds can be a real PitA, especially on your first trip north. The stuff falls beyond the northern shield wall mountains and it's a loooooong trip through a truly frozen hell to get to where it typically drops. Once your fast travel points are unlocked and/or sorcerous teleportals are established, then it's fairly routine.
