Indeed, DC current looses a lot of energy thru the wire resistance. Also, perhaps save yourself the annual wiring job by installing ring ends for bolt mounting. Then when it's time, join them easily with a little bolt and a bit of electrical tape. You save time and wire but use a bit of tape 🤷‍♂️

Every time I recycle electronics, I keep the large chunke of Aluminum, Copper and the fans. I use one over my lead Melting Pot with some dryer vent to draw out the fumes from the basement.

I bought a solar panel that came with two of these fans a couple weeks ago and as I was setting up a bunny chewed through one of the wires. I’m watching you wire your fans wondering if it’s that easy to get the fan working again?

You can use wiring nuts, or if the wire is too short use a soldering iron, drip a little solder on to the wire to connect the wires to lengthen them

New to rabbits and have found your channel to be an awesome resource.Couple questions about the fan setup. How long of wire runs can you make from panel to block, block to controller and controller to fans before having much degradation of power? Do the fans run off the battery and the panels just keep battery charged? Or on a cloudy day do the fans slow down (like a solar fountain in birdbath)?

My rabbits chew up anything plastic. Water bowls, frozen water bottles, etc. My breed is Am Chin.

American chinchillas, thanks for sharing Beautiful rabbits. During the summertime, my rabbits drink a lot more water and tend to chew the bowls if I don’t fill them up fast enough.

I wired in a 12v tempature controller as well which shuts the fans down at 79 degrees or less and turns them on when the temperature reaches 80 degrees and above. This gives the batteries plenty of time to full charge and saves on the life of the fans.

Did you just use an old 12v car battery with the solar panels? Can you explain how you splice the charge controller battery and solar panels together? Does the charge controller have a voltmeter on the input from the solar to shut off the solar and switch to the battery when the voltage drops? Say a cloud comes by and blocks the panels for 5 minutes or so. Never worked with solar before but it seems easy enough. Especially when everything is 12VDC and no inverter is beeded.

First off, I love your channel. Hoping to get into breeding rabbit's soon myself. Have a question about my location and whether it would be detrimental to raising rabbits, I am directly across the street from a set of train tracks and about 200 feet from a crossing so I get train horns blown multiple times a day directly in front of my house. Also noticed in a couple videos that you were having issues with mosquito's, I found that burning used coffee grounds in a burn pit overwhelms the little biters sense of smell and you won't get eaten up nearly as much (could also just wrap up the grounds with aluminium foil and leave it in the sun to emanate)

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Just like smoke, drowning out mosquitoes, you can use noise to drowned out a disturbance. I visited a rabbitry in Michigan years ago he used classical music to drowned out the shooting range down the street. Rabbits can calibrate to their environment but they’re so nervous by nature. You can always give it a whirl and see how it goes. Maybe they just need a hide box or a kindling tote or somewhere to escape to to give them a sense of security that might make it work. Yes because we use totes for our doe’s to kindle in the summer and winter so they are able to stay comfortable and not overheat or freeze. Totes also helps our bucks stay fertile too.
