What is the need of censor board? In today's internet era, anyone can watch anything on their computer. Just give 'A' certificate to the film and end the story. This is not saudi arabia.

Indeed. These are the institutions to make money. If you can't bribe them than they wouldn't allow a single film to release on the floor. Sheer hypocrisy and double standard. They didn't have any problem with "grandmasti", "Mastizade" and "Kya cool hai hum". But they have problem with "udta punjab"?? Who the hell are they to decide what should i watch and what i shouldn't!!!! Just give a rating so audience can decide whether they should watch the film or not.

First step to solve a problem is to admit there is one. You are in the state of ignorance. If people get agitated over a single movie than there is something wrong with society. In the past, many movies depicted Mumbai as the city of mafia and gangsters. Did people go crazy? Riots were happened in Mumbai previously. Does it mean that Bollywood should refrain themselves from making movies based on Mumbai gangsters? If it was the case than the release of "Shootout at Lonkhandwala" would have been resulted in a chaos in Mumbai. But nothing happened. Khalistan was a past but some people still want that issue to be alive just for the sake of their business (Akali dal). Every movie is a fiction and i don't think that "Udta Punjab" will present it as a true story based on real characters. For this reason only, every movie has disclaimer in the beginning. I think its time for you to introspect within yourself.

Creativity should never be bounded. There should be just a certification board. People are mature enough to decide for themselves. This is so hypocritical that we watch Hollywood films of all genres and content and then complain about Bollywood making cliche content. No wonder bad films are made in our country, filmmakers have no liberty at all. IDK why people become such sensitive pricks when any issue is taken on the big screen. BJP has to intervene, watching on sidelines makes them equally guilty.

they are not on the sidelines, they created this new system of censorship and are showing signs of going even further. The only censor board which is worse, is the Chinese censors. They are a Totalitarian state, we are supposedly a Democracy.

The mass of India which is the majority of the population doesn't have the awareness to decide for themselves. They get influenced by the movies easily. They need to be protected from wrongly influenced by the films. Udta Punjab is purely a commercial adventure with no care for drug issues in Punjab. The film makers sensationalise the issue, make money and move on. No real effort is done to solve the problem. If Anurag cared for the drug issue, why can't he work in the rehab centres to help the addicts? He is fake.

He is not qualified to work in a rehab centre. And please think twice before you decide about the mass of India. The mass of India is doing drugs, so they can very well see a movie about drug usage. The question is not about Anurag, it is about micro-managing the creativity of Indian artists...it is totally against the spirit of what means to be an Indian.

In my humble opinion a country like India should definitely have a censor board. Because lots of people with different beliefs, cultures and traditions are living in this country, so if a director makes a film which hurts the feelings of any of these communities in the name of creative freedom, it should not be allowed. Films which portrays woman in degrading contexts and films which justify crimes, especially crimes against woman shouldn't be allowed.

What is the point of inviting the CBFC and BJP members when you won't let them speak? The CBFC member constantly stated that the information that "Punjab" has been removed from the title is wrong, and the title has in fact been cleared. Goswami could not concede even this point. Then Shaina said that it is just one person who decides the censor cuts, the board consists of 9 members and have democratically decided on the cuts. Goswami kept on shouting "dicatorship" I think Goswami should just have just a monologue.

The politicians and the Censor Board to understand that their one attempt of saving face is going to hinder the quality of movies we are going to receive over the years. You need to ask yourself whether in the upcoming years you want more movies like Houseful, Sunny Leone movies or more movies like 3 idiots, Munna Bhai, Mother India, etc who have set a benchmark on the film history in India. If it was up to the current censor board we would have been in an age in which Rancho is not allowed to say "Suicides me India number one hai sir" or MunnaBhai can't say "Apun ne saala iss country ka vaat lagaa daala". Truly shameful. Kashyap sir, as always we, the youth as always are there on your side. Make it a rebel!

I don't know about those scene which removed from the Movie because I never seen it and Common people also not seen it yet.Without see those scene we should not come to Conclusion. In our country one small thing can make a huge Blast in our Society. It is a Censor board responsibility for not to Bother peace in our Society because of some Movie Scenes. If they removed some scenes then Definitely there is some reason behind it. What if Law and Order Situation creates because of one Movie scene??? Can Director will take the Responsibility if that??? India is a Diverse country. Here not everyone have same thinking. If Bollywood wants to remove Censor Board then they should take the Responsibility for Law and Order then. If any Bad thing happen because of their Movie then the Whole Movie cast should take the responsibility of that. Drug problem is not the problem only of Punjab. In my state GOA also there was a huge Drug problem. But now it is in under control because of strict action taken by the Government. But in Udta Punjab Movie If there is something Which can make BAD Image of Punjab then tomorrow people of Punjab will face the Discrimination in other states. Same like people of Bihar is facing the issue in Delhi, Mumbai and other Metro cities in India. We should not make Mockery of any community in Movie and anywhere. Bollywood make strong Influence in Indian Society. Bollywood also should understand this thing while making any Movie.

I just want to ask people a simple question, why are politicians or whosoever is opposing the movie, saying the movie is being used to bring down the image of Punjab where were these people wen it was being showed on national television in Aamir Khan's show "Satyameva Jayate" & also on "ON AIR WITH AIB" since it's time closer to elections only then political parties are making it such an issue to play their tricks So not only people from Bollywood but also common people should come out n raise their voice for either demolishing the censor board or make it a private independent body without any political influence

nhalani is just small puppet being danced by , film makers ,and polotical parties, best ways to get million dollar publicity,obviously the film will release anyways we all know ,but after it creeates more buzz then it would have actually done...only few insiders know how the pr firm these days work, but obviosly the cencerboard team should a group of more powerful and influencal and educated people, so they dnt act like this and dnt dance and create controversies on a call from poloticians and film makers,,but its a good masala for news channels,, after aamir khan its nahlani now.

serial and drama should bring for southern serial kannadam, telgu and tamil worst southern serials drama advertisment ruins the entire adult , parents ,kids long time watching serials kills people basic life basic routine this all sedation pill slow poison for the brains through visual media sedating with long story serials and they started killing no standards in advertisment censor board should be made and tune to strict to bring best of best of edcuation instead to kill every profession as and when they need to butter they over do things and over rate them unless censor board bring some thing for telvison should not run 10 to fifteen serials to bring them life it almost you kill entire state population of 8 crore let assume 6 crore people who watch then think about how much to infuse vote today most of the voters claim through news , programs to bring their business in to it and over sick them most of the southern channel and nothern channel keep on doing the same thing censor board should act commonly to act fairly on that instead they keep pushing their personal anonymity as the only choice to look othern than nothing
