OPEN ME!: It's finally Fall Break! I have a long weekend off for my full time job so I gave myself a whole weekend (Saturday and Sunday) to just relax and do nothing but read. I finished reading The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean and shared some thoughts on the book. I also give a quick GI tests/health update, talk about how my body is processing stress differently as I age, the importance of taking breaks and recovering from burnout, and the creative "in between" time I'm in between uploading my next book and switching to writing the next project. So get comfy for a super cozy weekend relaxing. I hope you enjoy! :) xx

I enjoy watching your everyday life vlogs too - not just solely the writing content! It is definitely important to take breaks and not put too much pressure on yourself to always be producing. Enjoy your break! :)

📘Yes to all the tangent videos, Andrea :) We don't get fall break here but my sister's who a teacher wishes we did lol (she's on maternity leave anyways). Wow, that talk about managing stress when you get older was hitting! I was nodding so hard, I thought my head would pop off :) Apart from the stress, I could manage on 4 hours sleep so much better in my 20s than I can now. And yeah, time becomes such a precious commodity in your 40s. The more I want time to slow down, the faster it seems to fly by. What I've noticed is I used to chase work deadlines and overtime to make more money and now I take more breaks, work from home, spend more time with my nephew and niece. A part of me wants to write and get my books published while another part wants to spend time with my family. And everyday that goes by, I lament how that time was spent. If I think too hard about it, I end up in tears. Nevertheless, I'm grateful to be getting older and value how much life has to offer.

📚Hello, I actually don't get a fall break. I wish I did, because I could use a break lol. I'm actually going on vacation this weekend, so I am trying to get all my homework done before then. I wanted to say congrats on the new book that you're releasing soon! That's really exciting. Currently I am reading A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross. It's pretty good so far, but I picked to read it for class for a book analysis I have to do. It's a fantasy story, about girls going missing in the main character's home country. He goes back to help solve the mystery basically. It's got a little bit of romance. I would recommend it. I was sad to see it's only a two book series, because I like the world building.

They make our Fall Break the week of Thanksgiving for students. Here at the library they only give us the Thursday & Friday of that week off so I always use vacation days to take the full week. I just finished reading and really enjoying The God of the Woods. 📚🛋

I work in education. I work for a school district with the Visually Impaired department transcribing schoolwork into braille. No fall break here! :( Looking forward to Thanksgiving Break next month. I really enjoyed The Book Eaters. I read it last year and thought it was so delightfully creepy. There were definitely scenes that turned my stomach a bit. I'm in a bit of a book slump currently. I keep trying to start books but then nothing is quite holding my interest. I just started The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater and Final Girls by Riley Sager. I'm also a mood reader and the struggle is so real right now. I want something a bit dark and mysterious and a little creepy but nothing is clicking at the moment. I have decided that I am going to continue on with the books I currently am reading though. I want to finish something, so one of those will eventually wind up on my Read shelf. Hopefully sooner than later!

Fall break is half term here which we don't really take as home schoolers but at least activities stop for a week!

Perimenopause has completely wrecked me. I was already diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, but it's gone through the roof and I had to go back on meds. Sleep is horrible. My IBS has also gone haywire (probably connected). I have near-severe stomach cramps every evening when I lay down to sleep. I really, really need to get better with not being a workaholic as well. Just celebrated my 42nd... and I'm not getting any younger lol.

Adding The Book Eater to my TBR now. The mood-reader life is so hard. So, so hard. I want to read The Book Eater but not right now. *sigh* Currently only reading a non-fiction book at the moment: My Story Can Beat Up Your Story. I'm on the hunt for a fiction book to read but none that I'm finding are hitting for me. I'll have to browse Libby again later. lol

I've been reading Cien anos de soledad by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It has so many horrible characters that I need a nice cozy romance now for detox :D aka your book \o/

Bad psychological advice: you might might be stressed since you just survived a record setting summer in the Valley of the Sun. I tried listening to meditation podcasts to fall asleep. Didn't work. You are letting the calmness flow, blah blah blah.... I found that British history podcasts did an amazing job putting me to sleep. I still don't know what happened in the War of the Roses, but I got a good half year of restful sleeps listening to the first five minutes of a podcast about them.

Dear Andrea ~ As you know, I have been a Social Worker for 35+ years & what-ever I've ever said / suggested to You is *always* from a 100% ''Good place'' & from My ''Heart' to ''Yours''' ... That said, Please rest assured that I believe [validate] everything that you have ''shared'' in this video & a few before about your life changes, stress, all your tests [aka] trying to ''figure out'' what's going on w/ You etc ... I have also ''held off'' in writing any comments thus far but today after much calm reflection & pause, I will share a suggestion for you : ) but 1st ... As per the question You posed on this video [ie] : Can I recover from this / can I re-cover from Burn-out ? Answer : YES !!! : ) 100% !!! : ) You are ''not'' always going to feel this way NOR are you beyond Repair etc ! : ) There is LOTS of Hope !!! : ) BUT You Need to ''learn new / different WAYS'' of Living your life & ''the whys' of why you are etc : ) that said, I could go on & on here explaining things that I could share that I ''see'' that comes from many years in my field etc that would benefit you -but- I think it best to suggest a Wonderful Book to you ... I *highly recommend* Gabor Mate's ''When the Body says NO'' [The COST of Hidden Stress] ~ I believe it will be '''more than''' Beneficial to You & ... LIFE ... CHANGING .... : ) It has the 'potential' (to positively & proactively) Set you on a New Journey of Understanding/making the Connections, Change & Self Discovery which will Ultimately - '... 'Set You FREE"' : ) !!! All the Best !! Most Sincerely, Yours Truly, Cindy : ) N.B. I did : ) (as always) not just ''make it'' to the end ~ I, as usual, Very Much ENJOYED it to the End (insert cozy or a book here) lololol ; )
