This is my home town, I was in the film as a young boy skidding, they used plastic sheets with soap so we could slide.

Shrewsbury is also the home of Cadfal and they did film some outdoor scenes on the river for the Derek Jacobi series.

The Dana is the name of the prison in Shrewsbury - you walk across the Dana bridge over the railway lines by the castle to the prison. It is so nice to see you loving Shrewsbury - we live about 3 miles outside Shrewsbury - Shropshire js a beautiful county that is under explored ❤

I’m another Salopian lived in Bayston Hill for years. Worked at royal Shrewsbury hospital for 21 years. My old deputy head porter Geoff Evans had a part in the 84 film he went on to gain his equity card and was in loads of tv and films.

I love 'A Christmas Carol', both the novella and most of the movie/tv adaptations. Next to the classic Alastair Sim 1951 version, this 1984 TV movie is my next favourite! I actually have a treasured 1917 copy of the book, which was presented to my great Aunt Mary during Sunday school in Hawes, Wensleydale during the Great War. Great video guys!

Loved watching you walk round our local town! It is a beautiful town with the most amazing buildings etc.. like all towns in the UK it has suffered with high street shops closing down but nothing can take away the history there. Try Chester too, not as nice as Shrewsbury (in my opinion) but still beautiful xx

I was in this. Our class at school got selected to walk across The Square . Sadly it was cut from the film,but at age nine it was a great experience.My uncle baked the bread for the market scene and my old house (Boreatton Hall)was the outside of young Scrooges house. It was an amazing time. Our class went to the premiere which was at a cinema on the same street you had lunch at.It is now sadly a Pizza Express.So glad you enjoyed looking around Shrewsbury. It was lovely to see.

Charles Dickens found the name Scrooge (spelt Scroggie)on a grave in Scotland and used it for his book.

Hiya guys stewsbury is beautiful and some of the buildings look a bit like Chester, like the film locations nick and I do like Scrooge movie but the Muppets Scrooge is my favourite. I love to visit Aberystwyth one time. Not bad prices for campervan stays. Bread and butter pudding looks so yummy. Thank you for sharing your van life trips have an amazing time 🤗

Nick & Leigh, you should come to Rochester in Kent where Charles Dickens lived and wrote a lot of his books … it’s really similar to Shrewsbury and has a cathedral too. I could show you around as it’s my home city. Ps love Nicks little face when he’s excited about something ❤

Ohhh you were near my neck of the woods in shrewsbury...I live in Telford!! You should visit Ironbridge in telford next time you're down here it's a beautiful place with lots of pubs and shops along the river!!

I’m from Shrewsbury and remember them filming this. It’s my favourite Christmas carol film followed by the muppets! You were only a 10 minute walk away from Charles Darwin’s birth place too.

Loving the vlog. Always wanted to go to Shropshire and Shrewsbury ever since I read a series of books in the early teens, that took place there. Portmerion……never understood The Prisoner, and never liked the giant big ball white coming across the sands. Thanks guys for another great vlog.

Fab video! I live in Shrewsbury and agree that it is a very nice place! My father was an extra in the film at the Corn Exchange - the old infirmary. He enjoyed the experience very much. You must come back and this time stay at the best caravan park in the UK - Love to Stay which is just a few minutes away from Attingham Park! Look up Love to Stay and you will see it's a 5 star park!

I love to see Nick ‘light up’ when you’re visiting a movie location like this - and how you can almost see through Nick’s eyes, his imagination really comes through, he gets lost in the moment 💖 When this happens, I feel like I’m been taken on a journey 💖 Love this (and loved Nicks reaction to Dobby’s grave too). I love wales, it's beautiful. There is a place called Tywyn not far from snowdonia the beach is so long and quiet , seen dolphins quite a few times there. It'd be perfect for drone use and a long walk . There is also an ice cream shop in the town where they make their own icecream ( recommend) and a steam railway.. The drive through North Wales is amazing . So many places to see and cafes . Love the place.

I loved that movie! I'm so glad you are visiting it. I also watched some videos last night on The George and Pilgrim after viewing your last video. Your UK videos and Lisa's videos have made me want to spend at least a month in the UK and visit all of these locations!

Chester’s nice too. A lot like Shrewsbury and York. If ever you go to Conwy, watch out for the arch. It is so tight getting the van through😮. One way and people get really impatient! Wing mirrors in and had about two inches spare each side 😬 😅. Love port merrion too!

Hi nic and Leigh Shrewsbury is are home town we luv it we r watching your vlog now if seems so strange to Shrewsbury. We luv r Shropshire beautiful county. They filmed last yr in Shrewsbury to do with the same film I'm not sure if it's remake or along same theme of film. The prison has been used in lots of TV programmes and films happy valley last season if I remember right . The building with 4 posts which is a shopping center now used to be a hospital. X

It's a tradition for us to watch to watch all the different versions of A Christmas Carol. The one with Reginald Owen is our favorite followed by George C Scott, then Patrick Stewart, and then Jim Carrey. Check out Scrooged with Bill Murray. The trip has been amazing so far

Christmas carol is all I ever want for Christmas and George C. Scott (American gem) is the best Scrooge ❤ but my fav characters in the films and book has always been the Cratchet family especially Mrs. Cratchet (HBIC). Share your enthusiasm seeing all the film site sights 🤩 fantastic vlog 👏🏼

From the shots you showed, I certainly understand why the famous movie set in Wales was called “How Green Was My Valley.” If I remember correctly, I saw the George C Scott version of Christmas Carol when it was originally broadcast here in the US in 1984, and I remember liking it a great deal. I’ve had a chance to play Scrooge on stage a number of times, so this was a lot of fun to see. And like someone else mentioned, most of my familiarity with Shrewsbury is from the Brother Cadfael mystery novels, which I’m a big fan of.

Portmeirion was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 and is now owned by a charitable trust once he passed away, but its know as the village from tv series The Prisoner starring patrick McGoohan, no relation to Winnie Mcgoohan from mrs browns boys 🤣🤣

I have seen the Movie but not really a fan of George C Scott I much prefer Alister Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge. If you ever get to Portsmouth you can visit the birthplace of Charles Dickens which is a small museum housing some of his furniture. I keep meaning to go and visit as it is in waking distance from where I live. We are off to North Wales on holiday next year and plan to visit Portmerion.

I do love A Christmas Carol the 1984 one is my fav but once i heard my dream man Sir Pat Stew was going to do a version i thought my dreams had come true! (TNG trekkie as well) i don't like it as much and its because it follows the story more closely than the 1984 version.
