Sound Pressure Levels (SPL) are detected by measuring the pressure fluctuations in a medium through which sound waves are traveling. Common noise sources in environment can produce rapidly changing SPL. It is thereby necessary to dampen the sudden change offered by noise sources so as to create a smoothly changing SPL. This process is referred to as “Time Weighting”. Learn more about Time weighting and their types in detail in this video.
