What a rare and precious gem! A man who has such incredible insight & understanding-AND he is such a skilled communicator… AND he has a conscience which he respects and heeds! I adore this young man and will be keeping him and his work in my prayers.

So much truth in one video. I think pretty much everyone recognizes the problem, but struggles with overcoming the addiction.

It is encouraging that RU-vid is directing me to videos like this. Perhaps there will start to be more and more people pushed along the same route. Momentum can build for good on these platforms too.

It’s just the algorithm figuring out what will keep our attention for longer at the moment. But hopefully the message in these sorts of videos will stick.

@@EricLeCrennSanchez I wonder what it will take for more people to realize the dull pain they end up maintaining by sticking with the directed pathways and start looking for the way out like those of us who made it to the point where we saw the value of this video and clicked on it. I wonder if we can gradually push the algorithms in a healthier direction, and maybe even someday push the designers to acknowledge and respect our need for peaceful, truly meaningful interactions and see that as an incentive to change their marketing constructs in our favor instead of helping us destroy ourselves and our society.

Seeing this in 2021... The video hasn't had all that many views, and only 30 or so comments. Essentially very, very low interest. Meanwhile we've been watching the devastating effects of social media on real society and even human lives over the past year. It's getting much worse as time drags on, and almost no one is fighting back, while those who do fight back are just this unpopular.

It is inspiring to watch people who see these kinds of problems that a lot of people don't see, and doing something to solve these problems

How did this video get only 12k views and 9 comments in 2 years? It's the antidote. How do we make this go viral?

Watched PBS also and he said "phones/tech gives people a place that changes people's reality" like drugs, sex, shopping, television, education, food, ummm pretty much everything! Can we have solutions for once!?! No one is solving problems just band-aiding and making sure no one holds responsibility/liability for it! Meanwhile ethics, morals, compassion, love, kindness, etc is now such a strange thing to witness that people aren't comfortable with it. Decent people can only be nice and stepped on so long before they "join the flock". Rich stay rich, all is fair in business, etc are all true! We reward vanity, theft, death, crime, etc! Life in hell sucks!

An oxymoron a contradiction to flash “spend time and take back life and attention” in the same sentence. To take back own lives and attention is to share time with those immediate to us that care to see us live. Since sharing time requires real time it stops those as distraction monopolizing outside of our time only out for mere stupid profit.

I have commended on the same topic giving by Tristan in other plat form. I wanted to add that I'm very surprised to see the # of views of the video despite the fact that is posted in a channel with 48K subscribers. Please can some one explain this to me cause I recently opened an educational RU-vid channel and I only have 60 subscribers and I complain why many people aren't so interested about this topic. It's like you know something is bad for you but you still want to do it because it feels good.

Until we believe we are the mind, until we identify with its desires and fears, I'm afraid this cultural awakening is not going to happen. How can we say no to a technology that provides everything we want at our fingertips? Technology should be in service of the mind, and mind should be in service of Atman, the awareness that we are.

Stop combining all uses of services to be on one gadget. A fax is a fax. A telephone 📞 is a telephone to speak on. A pc is a pc. If I want to listen to some of radio type. I put my phone away. And I switch on the phone. If I want to do banking, I sit at my desk. Focus on the finances and calmly finish that task. I hate doing everything on one gadget. Because it catches you when shopping to answer an email, which can wait. My cellphone is for an emergency call, a quick talk. Not all other things. It is annoying. I like stalling and pausing. In the appropriate place and time, I'll deal with the other issues. I switch off all volumes off the ring tone, except my kids and partner, because every one can wait. I don't even use maps. Because as an experienced driver. I study and memorise places.

Hello? What about us realizing that it is us who are making the choice to let the algorithms lead us in stupid directions. What about a little self responsibility? Why isn’t taking control of telling the algorithms what we want to see ever talked about??!!! We aren’t helpless idiots. Jeez! We can tell the algorithm to feed us inspiring info. Hello? Inspiring people? Click. Solving social problems? Click. Train ourselves to choose what we see. What is that never mentioned??? I really like this guy basically, but he keeps acting like we are helpless victims. Frustrating!!!! Take your search button and take control! Dude!! Just say it please!! Much respect.
