I am tearing up, as someone born in the 2000s, the 80s is a faded dream of impossibility, a realm of awe and wonders, yet I still dream on, soaked in nostalgia for a time I never experienced
Oh well all times are amazing. The music being composed today is just awesome if you know where to look. Travelling is cheap and easy. We are at the verge of VR meetings all over the world. When this is long gone we will have nostalgia for this as well. For the old RU-vid threads of comments, for the annoying smartphones and bad batteries, for bad mobile internet, for things that now we take for granted. Today is always the past for me.
I was born in 1978, In San Francisco i grew up in the 80s and it felt good...where did the 80s go???? It's 2023 and I feel like shit. Missed the good ol 80s!
I was born in 1992 I only remember 1996 my friend..... and thank's God at least I feeel the last years of the MODERN Era 😍😍🤑🤑 Was a happy kid.... happy kid 😢😢😢
February '78 myself. I know we grew up through the 80's but don't remember too much because our brains were still developing as kids, and I remember the 90's as clear as day. It's music such as this that triggers those back memories from the 80's. At least that's how I see it.
And yet the defining theme of the era was awe at how advanced our technology was. In losing that awe, as well as in using up the easy science that had been just sitting around waiting, ignored by the people before it, we entered a new era of technological apathy and the technology hasn't advanced very quickly since then, aside from computers, anyway. I feel like the last quarter of the 20th century was the first time we got to revel in a high tech world.
And you didn't have to worry about being chemically castrated for not conforming to gender stereotypes. Kids these days have to be worried about their own parents destroying their lives. In the 80's we just had to worry about the Russians.
Speaking as someone who lived through the eighties, this song is 80s approved. It takes me back to a time when life was simple and I didn't have a worry in the world.
@@hotwheelsearl I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s and I disagree.... It's the agenda and that phone you're staring at that screwed up the world and has made everyone self-absorbed.... I'm sorry you're probably in your twenties so you honestly have no clue what time's used to be like it truly was simpler times I'm sorry you didn't get to see it...things are truly lost and twisted now
@Richard James I was born in 1974 and I can honestly say that the 1980s couldn’t have been a better time to be a kid. You’re right about everything going to crap after 2000, especially after 9/11. Now, there’s an authoritarian mindset trying to force people to think one way or another just to fit into a beehive community. I didn’t grow up that way and I’m not living that way now or ever.
Nostalgia Anti depressant Soul Food Spirit Uplifting Natural This track is many things to me. New Retro Wave (Timecop 1983 & Trevor Something) well done for this millennial and nostalgic masterpiece! Love from Africa
Just think what they'll say in 20 or 30 more years from now. Same thing. One things for sure, every generation will almost certainly think it really was better in the past.
It was because they made it with coconut oil, you can do it at home, all you need is a small (or large)pot with a lid, coconut oil, real butter and popcorn kernels. High temp, add the ingredients together, enough to make a thin layer of seed evenly spread out in the pan, put the lid on once the first few kernels pop, hold lid down with one hand and move the pot back and forth rapidly over the heat source, once the popping slows of enough pops to force the lid off pour the corn in a big bowl add salt to taste.
@@hendo337 We used to make popcorn at home this way, kettle over a stove with oil, and then added the melted butter overtop after it was done. It was good, but still not like movie popcorn. What made movie popcorn good was the electric kettle that we used. It was nicely "seasoned". And we would use a big scoop of popcorn "butter", the yellow magic stuff, probably was coconut oil based with butter "flavor". The key ingredient though was the added butter oil. Theaters still do this, seems the same to me as it was in the old days. That said the stuff I make at home is often better than theater popcorn. I do it now in a glass container with an opening that is covered by a rubber piece that is made for popcorn making in the microwave.. I first put in some vege based butter first, about a TB as it doesn't burn like real butter does. Once popped I sprinkle on the butter flavored "movie theater" popcorn oil you can get at the stores. Salt to taste, it's really good.
I’m a 80s kid stuck in the 90s living in 2023… now thinking about my first crush. And as hard as it gets, I feel blessed to experience this, life’s a trip! Much love
i was born in 94’ and although based on this music my era wasn’t as pure it still was nostalgic and because it was a run off of this era. the 2000’s changed alot.
@@aum_tryambakam bro of course it's not lol most of the shit in the video is 80s 90s commercials just FYI, LMFAO failed attempt lol You take care though ✌️
+Morgopop Usually I can't stand vocals in songs like this but Trevor Something is ALWAYS amazing like you said. You can never go wrong with Timecop1983...
My older daughter is 16 years old and she always says: "Dad ! you're so lucky to have been a child during the eighties!", it's hard to confess she's true...
I remember a few of these commercials and PSA's quite vividly, many more just vaguely, and it feels so nice even if they're just adverts. That's the thing about 80's commercials - they were often restrained, candid, comforting, a little goofy, and portrayed a slice of the average life. Maybe that's why it works so well with the song.
We used to meet Down at the park And we would stay 'Till after dark Yeah, you had me Right from the start You had the key, yeah Into my heart 'Cause you were my My first crush Yeah, you were my My first crush 'Cause you were my My first crush Yeah, you were my My first crush It's been so long I can forget All the way back When we first met Yeah, we were kids Back in those days But it still feels Like yesterday 'Cause you were my My first crush Yeah, you were my My first crush 'Cause you were my My first crush Yeah, you were my My first crush
I was born in 82 but i remember just enough of it to get that nostalgia itch. Im super into 80’s metal (all- thrash, glam etc.), a ton of 80s pop, and just recently discovered this “new synth wave” stuff. It really takes you back to a much simpler time 🤘
This made me sad and happy at the same time. The floodgates of nostalgia, the moment when the 80s and the 90s were becoming the last time when being a kid and a teen would mean living in the real world.
I hope in the future there’s more rooms that are you know definition of self that can be applied rather than such a simplified whatever it is that already existed before
I was never a street dude but now as a 40 year old black man been through so much shit I just want my brothers all ages life ain’t about money, life is for the living
I wanted to say that this is one of my favorite songs ever since I heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Timecop1983, and Trevor Something (if you both are reading this), I think you created not only one of the best New Retro Wave songs, but it is also an excellent song in its own right regardless of whatever genre a person wants to categorize it under. I think Timecop1983 and Trevor Something should make another song together. Seriously, Trevor Something has a very cool singing voice, and Timecop1983 makes catchy and great beats. The pair are wonderful together. The only other artists missing from the retro 80's genre that I really like is Dana Jean Phoenix, and Com Truise. Yea, all 4 of you should make an album together. Sounds like musical bliss.
When i heard about the saying of having had the time of your life , i realized it was more dedicated to those of us who were lucky enough to have grown up the 80's.
How quiet those times were! You wrote letters and waited patiently for a response, you took photos and waited anxiously to see how they turned out after they were picked up! Everything wasn't so short-lived! Thank you for this great music and the journey through time! A big fan. Greetings Klaus from Düsseldorf
Thank you. When I listen to this music I close my eyes and the days of Knight Rider, Miami vice, and other great 80s shows run through my mind! It brings back a lot of great memories. 😁
I don't really get hung up in a nostalgia feeling. This music reminds me of what we dreamed the future would be. I hear synth and I wonder what the hell happened. Everything was so futuristic back then. Always looking forward to what could be.
This song is my favorite one from Timecop1983 and the reason why I ended up listening to the whole album and buying it. 5 years later and I'm still not done listening to this song and watching this video again.
Our parents were wild and full of life... Work, kids, divorce, etc, really grinded them down though. It's sad. I wish there was something I could do to restore the older generations youthful optimism and creativity. They made the 80s...
