When plants have collapsed THIS MUCH, DON'T throw them away, they're not dead. Put the whole pot in a BIG container of water which COVERS the soil by OVER an inch. After bubbles have stopped rising from soil, take the plant out of the water, let excess water drain; gradually the leaves and stems "fill with water" and recover. 🌱🌾🌴

For outdoor plants, it is normal for your plants to see to be dead after a hot day. Do not water them while there is still a strong sun. It will cook them. Water well you plants at night and or early in the morning. (Before 7 am or after 4 pm eastern time)

If a plant is suffering from lack of water, hot sun or not, it should be watered immediately. The plant is only in danger of being scrorched if you wet the leaves, stems, stalks, etc. Simply water it at the base.

As someone who's grown cucumbers and taken a biology course, this is not fake and plants really do, do this. They have a specific tissue inside their stems and leaves that protects the vascular tissues as well as supporting the plant. When a plant is properly hydrated this tissue is full of water which keeps the plant upright and perky. When a plant needs water it uses up the water found in these stores and uses it up causing the plant to lose it's structural integrity and fall over/ droop.

My peace lily does this all the time. It's extremely wimpy and wilts from temperature changes or even slight dehydration. I've thought it was gone for sure so many times but some water and a few hours of rest perks it right back up so idk why people are saying this vid is fake just because plants can't be "revived" with water, because they most definitely can.

This is not reversed at 1:35 the shoot on the left after scraping along the back wall spring upwards after it loses contact with the wall. This is because is had been bent when in contact with the wall by the force supplied by water moving up the stem. If it were in reverse the shoot would not change speed of movement after the point of contact with the wall.

Only problem with this, you stress the plant out and the ppm/ec levels of salts build up in the soil or medium and concentrate (due to the soil getting so dry to wilt the plant) and your plant can burn all up as well. Give the plant a little bit of seaweed or b1 vitamin it will help make the plant bounce back faster and stress it less. Silica is also a good supplement to help with drought resistance.
@peepsquiggler
@peepsquiggler 5 лет назад
Hey, thanks for the info and the advices! 1000+ comments before someone actually made spesific pointers to how improve on the problem. /like Finally we're going somewhere ;) I live by the sea, so how would you prepare the seaweed? Rinse it for salt, then blend it to porridge? Using silica for other plants, but this one had "shop setup". I see salt settling on the top of the soil in other pots too.
@coloradodirtbike5930
@coloradodirtbike5930 5 лет назад
@@peepsquiggler I never made fresh kelp or seaweed, but yes If I were to make it fresh I would soak and rinse it several times to leach out all the salts and blend it up or something. I have used maxi-crop, technaflora b1 (also derived from kelp), and general hydroponics bio weed with good results if you want a easier guarenteed product. What are you growing in for medium (potting soil)?
@peepsquiggler
@peepsquiggler 5 лет назад
I'll give it a try ;) Using regular potting soil with maybe 20% silica, mostly at the bottom. Watering with aquarium water. works wonders. Hydroponics also get aquarium water and IKEA nutrients in lack of anything better..
@CitizenAyellowblue
@CitizenAyellowblue 5 лет назад
Vitamin b has nothing to do with it.
@coloradodirtbike5930
@coloradodirtbike5930 5 лет назад
@@CitizenAyellowblue no, it wilted plain and simply because of lack of water. The vitamin b helps to take away stress in a scenario like this, after - where the plant becomes too dry and severely wilts. That is why after transplanting it is a good idea to give your plant b1 or kelp. The silica I mentioned helps with the drought resistance, plant cell wall strength, can protect against powdery mildew, and other problems - also can be used for a ph up adjuster.

I have a question and maybe someone out here know the answer. So, why is it happening? Yes, I know is due to plant drying out, but is the water just "evaporate" from leaves and that's why they are floppy, or all the water goes to the roots (so that plant could stay alive)?
