Michael McDonald has one of those voices that you know it's him right when you hear him. One of my favorites. Listen to some of his songs with the Doobie Brothers. I love your channel, your spirit, your connection & your chemistry.
Somehow it has always been unfashionable to love Michael McDonald... but I've always been taken to a unique poignant place hearing him sing. Fan for life. Also: great discovering you guys!
Check out the really good bass line on this song. Michael was pretty much the voice of the '70s & '80s - making appearances on many other artists songs as well as his own and the Doo Bee Brothers songs.
Produced by Ted Templeman and Larry Waronker. Written by Michael McDonald, Ed Sanford, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. All-star band. Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson on bass guitar 🎸, Greg Philinganes of Lionel Richie band is on keyboards 🎹, Steve Lukather on lead guitar 🎸 and the late Jeff Porcaro on drums 🥁., both from Toto. Lukather and Porcaro were on the Michael Jackson album Thriller and with other musicians in the same year 1982. No wonder they worked like a dog 🐕 L 🤣L Nate Dogg sampled this for the rap Regulate. 2 years after this sing was released, Michael McDonald finished a Van Halen song 🎵 The 1970s and 1980s were great 👍 for Michael McDonald. Larry W produced albums for the late Gordon Lightfoot, Little Feat and others. Ted Templeman produced The Doobie Brothers, Van Halen and others. Definitely more Michael McDonald! From his time with the Doobie, Brothers... Minute by Minute Takin it to the Streets It Keeps You Running Then on to his solo career... Ya Mo Be There (with James Ingram) No Looking Back Sweet Freedom Blink of an Eye (this will take you to church!) All in Love is Fair (Stevie Wonder cover) Higher Ground (another Stevie Wonder song) On My Own (duet with Patti Labelle) And, of course, his unique vocal contributions to so many Steely Dan songs like Peg Reeling in the Years Bad Sneakers What a voice!
If you thought Michael Macdonald was cool, you gotta get with people with blue eyed soul like: this is it from Kenny Loggins, Square Biz and/or Out on a Limb by Teena Marie, and Father Figure by George Michael. They're all fire. -Jocelyn
