This video chronicles James Stewart's rise the most famous motocross racer in the world. It also mentions that James Stewart is the 1st African American to win a motocross event in the premier class.
I remember when bubba started in the 125cc supercross, he was so fast that the 250 riders would go out and watch him practice to learn where the fastest lines were, his lap times were as good as theirs. Awsome racer and that grin, everytime you saw him without his helmet on he was smiling, a true champion.
It’s disgusting the prejudice bubba had to go through. It just makes me respect him even more. He will go down in history as one of the best of all time.
James Stewart was the most popular rider don't give me that racism BS. Little kid screamed and chanted his name. Don't place the race card it's getting very old!
Fancy Boy his own dad in interviews said that people would stand outside the track and call them the n word so fuck you asshole. You have no idea what they went through.
This kid was a comet , beautiful to watch, waaaaay different than the rest , truly changed the landscape while he was here , completely changed the way we viewed the landscape of our sport and just like that , he was gone.. I raced James in 00 or 01 I cant remember the year at muddy creek in Tennesee . I was used to dominating locally and my area for Lorettas was Muddy Creek , I had raced MuddyC 3 times before and placed 2nd all 3 and all 6 motos. That next year I had put in more effort and seat time than ever and when I lined up, I was winning , there was no doubt, that morning I went out to practice and I was laying down laps for my dad to time and the last lap I was coming through the spectator turn before the table top around the tree and I THOUGHT, you couldn't go any faster, I look over and a kid on a Kawi comes by me , ON THE OUTSIDE, standing up through the turn , drags the pegs off the table top and just like that he was gone Smfh . He was just on another level.
I had the same type of experience riding Millville in 1986. I was racing around fas as hell (I thought ) then Ron Lachine past me, I felt like I was going backwards.
I love James and have been around him since he got on board Team Kawasaki as a 125 factory rider. I'll never forget Mark Johnson of Team Green telling me how impressed they were with how hard he worked, how much he rode, and how many KX's he destroyed......a month. They loved it! R&D feedback was infinite. Historically, only RC came close. What I really admired was that he practiced his "checkered flag-victory jump" every day, every practice. The same way Jerry Rice used to take every catch in 49er practice all the way to the end zone, regardless of where on the field the pass was caught. Visualize victory. Practice winning. Develop the habit of winning. Expect to win. Every race is your race to win. Furthermore, in nearly 50 years in and around the business of motocross and supercross, there are very few people I don't know, haven't met, or don't consider friends. "Big James" Stewart Sr. is among my favorite people I've had the pleasure and honor to have been around in the business. His enthusiasm is unrivaled, wealth of knowledge is endless, and love of this sport is infectious. My father was never 1/500th the man, father, cheerleader, provider, husband, or role model that James Stewart Sr. is.
@@mxr7586 - I've known Chad a long time. He started with fifteen personalities and he's down to about four. He's getting better every day but it's been an adventure.
I love reading stories like the one you just posted. I think if I could hang out with anyone for a day it would be James Sr. He seems like such a great guy. What do you mean Reed started with 15 personalities? Lol
@@bmxryan- I like Reedy and have always got a kick out of him and Ellie has always been fantastic. As I started to type 25 years or memories just flooded over me along with a heavy dose of common sense... I'll just say this. What I alluded to with the "15 personality" comment was that in the early 2000's Chad was real moody a lot. Cool one day, a dick the next. Inexplicably. I made 1 or 2 mistakes in my life during that time, too.
I'm glad James has brought alot of black people into the sport it shows that motocross is a family and a struggle together, I just hope that the black fans he brings in are fans of him as a rider not just because hes black because once the helmets on every one is a rider and share the same passion and struggles of racing regardless of race or place your from. It should be more about the common interest of having fun together as a family that's what big James is all about. James isn't the best but one of the greatest riders of his time and a true icon to the sport. Real hero!
If someone wants to be a fan of james only because hes black that shouldnt be a problem to you or anyone else. Because you can be pro-black without being against white ppl. I always support my brothers over any other, but i do not hold hatred in my heart for any color, i just simply love my own more than the rest. As anyone should
@@swappedoutZ71 agreed thats literally me I’m black and js7 and Malcolm are my favs but I have no problem with white people every race has good and bad
One of the inventors or riding technique. I only know a few. Here they are. 1) Kent Howerton; "clutching it". Kent was on a slower bike, Husky I think, than the new Japanese bikes coming out, but Kent would still have more speed than his fellow racers coming out of the corners. A had full of pro racers watched him from the side of the track one day, to figure out what he was doing, and "clutching it" was born. Because he had less power, Kent would go into a corner a gear higher than normal. This meant he had to shift one less time, but normally, this would cause you to bog coming out of the corner as the engine could not pull the taller gear well. So Kent would pull the clutch in before the apex, and hold the throttle wide open, feeding the power out with the clutch. It would also force him to try and hit the corners faster to avoid bogging, and e was able to exit faster out of them, sifting one less time again. 2) David Bailey: The back break in the air, (clutch in so you don't stall the engine in the air, which I did once; That was weird) to basically bring the rear wheel up if the front end was too high. I don't know the story, but I understand he invented it, and I used it a lot myself. 3) James Stewart: The Bubba Scrub. knocked up to .5 seconds of some jumps, and that really added up in a lap. Nobody ever did the scrub like James did on the 125. I never raced a 4-stroke, but my intuition says the typical 4-stroke racer does not use the clutch like that, and none of them can scrub them like James invented. Inventing racing techniques, in my mind, sets those racers a bit apart from those who only follow.
Man im black and my dream is to be in Supercross, tbh yall white folk need to grow up, it aint nothing wrong with somebody with a different skin color, who wanna do the best at what they love
I'm white and I just stopped caring about what they say bruh. Just keep your head in the game and stay 2 steps ahead of what everyone else my be thinking. You'll be fine. I'm also gonna be in Supercross, but I some times wish I was Stewart because I just don't have confidence in my self yet. V.V

The things him and his family had to go threw when he was a kid just to make it big in the sport it was with out a doubt he was going to make it to the top no matter what and he did
More like he has a wonderful life and yours sucks because your a lazy fucking loooooooooser who thinks he's funny posting stupid shit on youtube. Get a life you fucking uneducated Loooooooooser
michael Fariello how can you even have the gall to comprehend that I am lazy and you even have the audacity of presenting an uneducated assumption that seems to elude your own intellectual process of thinking. We need critical thinkers and classes are available. glad you viewed funny on my ch. see em all and lol at some, cheers
michael Fariello How can you call me that.... ( Intellectual genius ) I am knot. You say that again, I will bring suit against you for defecation of character.
twing21able You can't be serious...I'm an attorney and I would hate to file a suit against myself with no grounds. You are one weird individual, who is obviously a fruitcake
Coming from a white guy, it was great watching you beat all the white boys at their game. It was great when you dominated the sport of motocross. Thanks for the awesome racing. 👍
Like to watch you race James you was one of the best it sad that everything has to be black and white ever this time and age now if you was built like Shack I would say no i don’t think motocross would be very good choice lol but you definitely was great and in joyed watching you and RC battling it out
The part where he talked about "black people shouldnt ride motorcycles" kinda ticked me off. What kind of idiot would say that to ANY great athlete of ANY sport. Black, white, blue, green, whatever, if you are good, I, along with many other people respect you of that. When I grew up watching James ride, and even now, I dont think of him as "the black racer", he is just another guy out on the track trying to win a championship, and nothing else than that.
perfect motocross life? no sir. to have a full ride from 50s to big bikes is perfect and to not worry about paying rent and bills by the end of the day. so many families go through the toughest times in there life trying to make it to the top as stewarts family did.
THIS DUDE WENT THROUGH WHAT TIGER AND THE TWO SISTERS WENT THROUGH LILLY HATES LOOSING LOOK AT OUR POLITICS YOU WERE GOOD JAMES ONE THING YOU HAVE HOPEFULLY LEARNED IS DAD NOW'S HIS SHIT HE'S BEEN THERE DONE THAT THE LITTLE HEAD RULES FOR AWHILE GOOD LUCK LISTEN
a brilliant rider when not on the ground, however, r.c. remains the best ever, when j.s. came along, r.c. picked up his game, trained harder and just got faster.
It’s all good concerning the place that Bubba sits in today. But when it comes to parents dreams becoming true through the child is wild and slave like. Directing a child to become the best at what the parent decide they should be the best at and all the while coaching them an dragging them along, is not moral. No matter how good James became, he still was used and abused so that he could be a business opportunity for his parents. It’s common sense. Anyways Americans are the professionals at this practice. We all want to make someone proud especially our parents, so what ever our parents push us towards then that’s who we become. Most of the time. James and his brother are a part of this theory!
I think JS7 was cheated - JS7 should of moved up into the 250 class with RC and CR way ealier. James Stewart Races for love and respect, Everyone raced to beat Stewart and that's all they cared about.
so what happened where did he go i honestly don't know he was fun to watch but chad was a little better because bubba couldn't handle the machine he kept crashing
richie horton Name one SX race where anybody took the lead from or passed JS when he was on 2 wheels and then held that lead. The fact that he is 2nd place for most SX wins ever says you're full of shit.
richie horton Still you fail to comprehend what is said to you. Go back and Re-read what I wrote to you 10 times if you have to and then get back to me with an answer. Still waiting.......
richie horton I am going to say this to you one last time and if you don't comprehend it or can't answer it then stop replying to me. "Name One SX race (give me the city and year so I can watch the race) where anybody took the lead from or passed JS when he was on 2 wheels and then held that lead."
Them white boys hated them and it still shows ...but anyway 259 js7 is deff the greatest show on dirt fuck the titles he got plenty 😎😎😎kawasaki treated him like shit the only reason he didnt win is because he took risks and owns it
@@justinfee819 It would be close racing for sure, if James, Ricky & Ryan got to race each other in their prime you would get a different winner every race
@@donjohnson4723 probably right and boy it would fun to watch I guess till someone builds a time machine we'll have to settle for bench racing old champs LoL.
@@donjohnson4723 James did race RC a lot. They were about the same speed till the end of the race typically, and RC wore him out, and anybody else who challenged him in his entire career. But did RV, on his 250 4-stroke in 2007 show he was a decade late to race RC more, when RV took both hole shots and left the world behind, (including RC on a 450), at the 2007 MX of N at Maryland's Budd's Creek. Now James, when he first turned pro, racing the 125 class, was matching or bettering the 250 racers lap times, and RC was in there winning the 250 class. All 3 at their prime? We will never know, but I think RC still would have won 15 championships. Maryland was his retirement race, and it was great being there.
Awesome lets make this about race. how about the guy won some races and did great for a while. how bout that. Why does every damn thing always have to be about race.
I mean you and other racist were making about race when you discriminated against people who weren't you alls color...So who made it about race first ? NOT the victim of racism...
Dont know what racial hurdles hes talking about, everybody idolized him from pw days ALL THE WAY UP. Dude was homeschooled and spend every other waking minute racing...where he was loved by all.
I'm black and grew up in Maryland riding gocarts dirtbikes horse's ATV when they had 3 wheels white friends right their beside us only color we worried about was kawi green Honda red Yamaha yellow blue Suzuki yellow still some of my closet friends today and I just turned 56 years old. Its okay one of the few things you're good for.... giving it in the ass. 😘 seems like that would be the only reason to get butt hurt. 2019 is totally accepting of white LGBTQ . Have fun getting shitted on
