Hope you like the video, I am trying a few new things! I have been talking with a great channel called Mars Reel (Check them out!), we are thinking of collaborating and using all their great footage behind the scenes of high school stars and following their career through the NBA. I Will also keep making team videos though, don't worry! Maybe the Raptors next?
If someone says steph cant rebound.. They dont know basketball.. And not blocks but he has always been on the top in steals.. And obviously he is the best scorer
Jimmy Patsos was worried more about Stephen Curry, than he was that 2008 Davidson basketball team. Even in college Stephen Curry had opposing teams fearing him. Davidson beat Loyola by a final score of 78 - 48, yet he made it sound like them holding Stephen Curry to zero points was an NCAA history making accomplishment. Stephen Curry constantly getting double-teamed, left other players on Davidson wide open time so many times.
3:20 humbling moment, universe didn't give him too much too soon Taught him to keep pushing harder and discipline, took an NCAA championship in exchange for an NBA championship(s), may have hurt at the time but worth it
me after hearing chuck's comment on warriors and curry: says the man who never win nba title hahahahahaha me after looking at doc rivers' comment: says the man who blew out 3 - 1 lead hahahahaha
It's no longer about the high flying act or the dominant big man inside. The shooting guard is the star of the show in the new NBA thanks to Chef Curry.
@Sadistic Soup Wilt Chamberlain was such a dominant force in the post that the NBA actually expanded the lane to make it harder for him to score. Julius Erving was the first highlight-reel dunker, which a lot of players try to be now In baseball, Babe Ruth was the first great home run hitter, and more players have been trying to hit more home runs since then
@Sadistic Soup Michael Jordan was a whole new type of superstar that has influenced the idea of what a superstar is in the NBA. Before that it was primarily big men who were the stars. Shooting guards were not considered that way. Pretty influential but he is the GOAT after all, of course he was the sport itself during his era.
Since his NBA Draft: - 3x NBA champion - 2x NBA MVPS - 6x NBA All-Star - 1x NBA Scoring champion - 1x NBA Steals leader - 50-40-90 Club - Greatest Shooter of All Time

@Mark W you never watched a full 70 game to see how booring it was, no crossovers, no stepbacks, no up and under layups...its thanks to guys like Allen Iverson, MJ, Bird, Wade, Kobe and Curry that the game is way more beautiful to watch.
10:10 Charles Barkley said the NBA wasn't going to have a bunch of 3pt shooters and small ball lineups. I can't stop laughing cause the literal exact opposite happened.

“With the Seventh Pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, The Golden State Warriors select... Stephen Curry. From Davidson College.” With that pick, a monster was unleashed for years to come
I remember being in HS watching March madness and thinking this dude was going to prove everyone wrong in the NBA, it was only a matter of time. I'm from NY and one day I was sitting at home and threw the Knicks game on and they happened to be playing Golden State and that's when curry dropped 54 points in ridiculous fashion. Right there is when I knew curry was about to get the attention he deserved. It's cool to see where he started and where he is now. Hard work & Heart will take you anywhere.
Charles isn't a hater lol. He was just giving his honest opinion and besides no team who lived by the 3 die by 3 team ever won until the Warriors did it.
@@emekaamerican863 Barkley was wrong. Just deal with it. Not just once, either. He was wrong about the Warriors (3 rings he thought they wouldn't get) And wrong again, about how the NBA would evolve. Wrong is wrong.
@@carboy101 “Warriors has no chance to win w/o KD, this series or any other series. Houston is terrific, Steph and Klay, they are not the same guy they were before.” Charles Barkley before WCSF G6
Ok but at the time he was definitely right. Curry had hurt his ankles 3(?) times already and he was just a small shooter so giving a contract like that was a bigggg risk. Obviously Curry is insane now
So this Charles Barkley guy has been doubting Steph since the beginning of his career and has been wrong at every turn. Just last week before GSW swept the Blazers, he was so sure the Warriors wouldn't be able to beat them without KD. HAH. Is he doing this on purpose?? LMAO.
@Mark W I have no idea. I honestly think that shooting 3s for any Forward or Center is not important at all. Ben Simmons, a Point Guard/Small Forward can't shoot a 3 and Rudy Gobert, a Center, can't shoot a 3 either!
Mark W Having centers that can shoot 3s would give more advantage to a team as opposed to having a conventional type of center. Steph Curry popularised 3s but Dirk Nowitzki was the first center in modern era who have unlimited range. A 7 feet man with unlimited range and high arc shot who could stop that?
Basically this shows that not all scouting is equal. They overlooked the IT factor and now every team in the NBA wished they had Steph but he's gonna be a GSW lifer ;)
hindsight is 20/20. if there are 100 prospects that are built exactly like steph with the same exact physical attributes and skillset how many do you think will actually become steph curry today? not that many. you'd be crazy to even think about taking curry over blake or tyreke 10 years ago.
Scouting and predicting professional success is exceedingly difficult. College basketball and NBA basketball are basically different sports and unless someone plays consistently against NBA competition throughout a 82 games long season there is very little to work with that allows you to predict how a player does at the next level.
Throughout his whole bball life, he had to prove everybody wrong. Now he's a legend and a guaranteed HOF. Steph is the true underdog. He was like that stock in the stock market no one wanted to touch. So for those who took a chance in him. Good for you!!!
Bullseye! What i love about this kid is not just the obvious joy he gets from playing the game...not just how he delights in the success of his teammates....not just how unselfish he is on the court...but how deeply he has redlined his talent...the incredible hard work you speak of that he never stops applying to his talent. I totally agree...
Ditto. I'd grown weary of no-talent bigs backing their bulbous butts down into the paint. Curry brought me back with his exciting combination of street ball and audacious 3-point shooting.
It's lovely to see him point up every time he successfully shoots a three. He gives credit to the One who blessed him. God bless Steph, and continue being an inspiration to other people!
He reminds me a bit of Messi, who had multiple injuries in the first few years of his pro career. Also brought a brand new style to his sport, which changed the way it was played.
I mean most of us didn’t know that jump shooting teams would win, until this guy came. Everyone was saying “you live by the three, you die by the three.” Eras change and Chuck wasn’t the only one who was proven wrong.
Don't confuse ignorance with disrespect. If I mispronounce the name of the King of Thailand tomorrow, that doesn't mean I disrespect him; it just means I don't know any better.
@@asterisk911 In all honesty, this comment wouldn't receive any likes if I worded it correctly. The purpose of my comment was to point out how Curry always has been doubted, "too small", "too skinny". A sports anchor who are unaware of how to pronounce the name of a player who finished second in the ROY race scoring 17.5 points on efficient shooting as a second option, is horrendeous considering it's Steph's third year in the league. Rather than the sports anchor being ignorant, he could simply be another disbeliever of Steph (as Curry hadn't redeemed himseld already) Time and time again this is what Steph have had to put up with and it would continue for a while after this occurence. Or the sports anchor just might have commited a mistake...
I gotta say, that number 30 looks so good. Steph's number 30 almost looks as good as him. But to see that number 30 on ANYTHING NOW, makes you stop and pause. It has turned into a BEAUTIFUL number
people hate in gsw cuz they thought gsw had 3 allstar lmao 3.... its actually they improving player to an allsrtar like dray klay and curry till they get beast and be a champion...like LEBUUUMMMMM A HOPPER TEAM
You dont see people complaining about them having 3 all stars, thats a strawman argument, people complain because KD shouldnt have been able to leave GSs biggest competition to join them, thats simply bad for the league and the only reason you want it is because you dont have to sweat as much wondering if the team you don't matter to but for some reason are loyal to will win or lose Imagine if Steph goes to the Raptors, that would literally only even the playing field in terms of all stars but you'd get butthurt all the same. Take this L because the Warriors can't even 3 peat with the most stacked team ever when MJ did it twice.
@@ltzp2 you mad bro? Don't be a hater and just give them credit. They proved that they won a ship before KD came. And when they got KD, it was a great move. He fit the system. KD couldn't win a ship with Harden and Westbrook, a stacked team. So what's your point? And deflecting on whose better, them or Jordan's Bulls will not change their legacy. You can compare them all you want. But that's just useless argument, because they'll never play each other right? With that said #Lakers4Life! Lol!
@@Dapper_Dean what if Kd harden and Westbrook didn’t go their separate ways they would have chips untouched have to remember that was a very young thunder team lmao
I know people hate the comparisons to curry and trae young but I think this is why the hawks picked trae. They don't want to end up like Minnesota passing on curry. I mean there story's are almost identical the things they said about curry are the same things they say about trae. I'm not saying that he is ever going to be as good as Steph but I can see where the logic came from with the hawks pick.
Trae and Steph had pretty similar rookie seasons tbh; Rough starts but in the second half they looked like the best rookie, and Trae, like Steph, will likely get beat out for ROTY by a Point Forward (Luka and Tyreke).
all the criticism at around the 4:20 mark were all very reasonable, legit and sound criticisms of curry at the time, hindsight will always tell u ohhhhh u shouldve picked curry ohhhhhhhhh u shouldve known, but its a small 1 out of like 500 chance or something small like that a player like curry turns out the way he is right now
republicansridiots As a huge fan of Curry I totally agrees. Those who mocked them are true bandwagons who never noticed Curry before he broke out. Even as a Warriors fan I used to hate him when we gave away Monta Ellis. I am happy to be wrong.
It’s insane to think how close his career was to being derailed because of his ankles, I remember watching him and thinking “he really could be something but his ankles are going to be the end of him” so glad it didn’t go down that way! We really lucked out!
@@lorenzodecabo3040 The center position is now completely pointless to play against him UNLESS the center can shoot 3's consistently. That is truly remarkable -- to take away an entire position, and make them completely transform their game to accommodate his.
@@cantbeatthebay4765 that part I understand, but also you make the center position an "foreign" position, because in EEUU, only boogie it's an true center, you have more centers coming from Europe or another part from the world than Americans
@@lorenzodecabo3040 Exactly. This is why I say he's changed it for the better. Kristaps Porzingis, Embiid, Karl Anthony Towns, Boogie, AD, etc., will be that young group of centers that can shoot. @@cantbeatthebay4765 I don't see KAT and AD as a true centers, Karl needs more strength and AD it's not that tall like a center, its more a PF but that's my point of view.
It was Bob Mckillop who introduced steph curry to the World of basketball, if not for him, basketball will never change its game plan, now 3 points shooting is more frequent used specially when there were crucial time remaining, Thanks to you coach for believing Steph
lol two Charles Barkley Ls in yet another fire video, I love it. Who do you think changed the NBA more, Steph or LeBron? LeBron made the NBA more popular but I feel like Steph's story resonates more with pepole. Even though there's only ~500 spots for players in the NBA, it gives hope to people who aren't freakishly tall or athletically gifted that you can make the NBA as long as you have elite skill.
Steph curry also made the nba more popular because as u can hear in the crowds they get so pumped for clutch 3 points shots which now happen more often because of steph
This was dope... Literally. Changed. The. Game. Now every kid who can hold a basketball, and is undersized, underrated, not tall enough doesn't lack the skill etc etc aren't listening to any hater while chucking 3's from everywhere
“Jeff Teague, Johnny Flynn, Ty Lawson”? Wtaf 😂 those teams made a mistake by passing up on curry. He’s definitely miles better than all of these guards

He is the best player in the world since 2015, that's why Nike put Durant on the Warriors so he could try and overshadow Steph. They had too much invested in KD being the next best after Lebron declined. But we have eyes to see, Curry is the best player alive, maybe ever.
Amen. Finally. You are my friend for LIFE. I have been saying THIS same thing FOREVER. That "Hampton Five" story is PURE, MADE UP, ORCHESTRATED, Hollywood bullshit. Nike, whom I firmly believes OWN the NBA, FORCED the Warriors to sign Durant. There wasn't a reason in this world for Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to GIVE UP THEIR NEW "rock star status" to start sharing THEIR " unprecedented, unduplicated SUCCESS with ANYBODY, including Kevin Durant. Durant who had been in the league FOREVER and NEVER won ANYTHING, and HIS career was going NO where fast. And also, Nike WAD and STILL is salty because the mega popular, basketball "revolutionary" Steph Curry, WOULD NOT sign with them. So like you said Durant was sent there to quash Steph's popularity and growing power. But it hasn't worked with the fans. Because Steph Curry has become SO much MORE than basketball. SO much MORE. But those good old, "brought and paid for by Nike" sports analysts ARE ALWAYS singing Nike's Kevin Durant's praises as hard as they sing Nike's Lebron James' praises. What a racket.
