Times Idiot Drivers Brake Checked The WRONG PERSON! 

Anyone who has the audacity to brake check a vehicle much larger than themselves deserves EVERYTHING that happens to them!

This has happened to me twice since I retired as a cop. I was able to “make a phone call” with the first kid who said he did nothing wrong. He weaved back & forth across 3 lanes to be a jerk. He had no reason he said he was just going to do it to the first red vehicle he saw. When the cops arrived while we were talking he started shouting asking for help as he said I was a road rager. 😂😂. The cops knew better, we had worked together before I retired!! 😂😂. I filed my statement and a copy of the video from my dash cam. The kid filed a report saying I assaulted and battered him. The video showed otherwise. He was then charged with criminal mischief, assigned a traffic violation of dangerous driving, got a 3 month driving suspension and 6 months of probation. He never knew I had video until he showed up to court. He represented himself. The second one, I was driving my 69 3/4 K20 Chevy 4x4 with the most serious front & rear bumpers out there made of drill stem pipe. There are Rossi rails that are doubled up with slightly lighter pipe that still doesn’t bend, even with the full weight of the truck on it,,, just slides when in the rocks. It has a 4” lift and 35s. A kid in a Subaru BRZ decided to brake check me and when he cut into the lane I was in there was maybe 3 ft between us. I didn’t even see his brakes, so I didn’t stop or even slow down!! I destroyed his trunk/hatch and a good portion of the passenger side of the car as it spun to the right. When I stopped to see if the occupants were ok, the lady (later learned it was his fiancé) had already given him a bloody nose!! Glad I grabbed my dash cam when I walked over!! He asked ME for help. I did ask her to stop, she didn’t because felt he tried to kill her. In the end she had broken his nose and his whole face was swelling from being hit. He went in a ambulance, she went in a separate ambulance l she broke her wrist & hand hitting him so hard, fortunately they were on the same arm. They both knew I had a camera. He was very honest in his report, he did it because I was driving a gas guzzler truck. He’s right, but I only drive it maybe 2500 miles a year, it’s a classic! He was again tagged with dangerous driving. She was charged & convicted with domestic battery. They didn’t get married and she had to move as guys would not date her (for good reason I think). It’s just messed up out there. I drove in a marked vehicle and was brake checked once for doing the speed limit in the fast lane. The guy said that lane is for speeders, not cops to do the speed limit. I asked him to show me where that existed under the motor vehicle act. He tried and even fought it in court. There was no accident. The judge was in a good mood that day, said even he couldn’t produce a reason even HE could speed, he sure as heck didn’t find any reason that lane was created for speeders. He let the ticket for obstruction of traffic stand. The guy was at his limit for points on his licence & that ticket put him over. He had a 1 month driving suspension. He was annoying right up until I retired. I hit him with several other tickets, then after his buddy’s wedding, I got him for speeding & impaired driving. He blew .32 and lost his licence for 6 month. Then he had to use an interloc for 1 year but failed on that twice garnering another year of driving suspension. I have since moved,,,, I retired. I bet he is just as pleasant to deal with for the officers that replaced me,,,, haha. I was a Seargent when I retired, but we were small enough I could get out on the road once in a while. That’s why I never pursued a career beyond Seargent. They become political in nature after that and I liked being involved, not in meetings. Everyone please drive safe, Eh!

I really love the ones where the brake checked starts pushing the car in front like:"No, we go now...."

It never ceases to amaze me how many drivers will lay on the horn for 3-5 seconds, but won't hit their brakes

I am over 60 and have lived through the US and been in the military and I never heard of brake checking until maybe ten years ago and thought it was a localized joke. Why would anyone want to brake checking someone??? It makes no sense! If your in a big enough hurry to want to h around someone why then put on your brakes? It just seems stupid and dangerous

I'm a retired truck driver. I once had an idiot brake-check me at about 4am on I-45 southbound between Dallas and Houston. Almost no traffic and this guy came up from FAR behind me, there was no way I cut him off. He came around me, hit his brakes, wouldn't let me pass him. I finally stopped on the shoulder to get him to move on. But believe me, I was ready to drive thru/over some vehicles if it had even begun to look like a hijack attempt! But there were simply no other vehicles within miles.

This is the best argument for decent dashcams.

All of the incidents were pretty good but the one where the truck kept pushing the brake checker down the road until he pit maneuvered him was the very best! Well done Sir!

So many people are unable to tell the difference between breaks and brakes.

I have a lot of respect for truckers. My youngest son is a trucker. I was coming back from dropping my grandson off in St Louis and was in my personal vehicle. A trucker came up and when he wasn't clear of me came over and ran me off the road. My first thought was it is rainy, maybe he misjudged his distance or maybe he is just tired, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Then he pulled up along side of me and rolled down his passenger window and told me to pull over he was going to kick my ass. I was 6'2'', 220 pounds, ex sf and 27 years in martial arts and also worked for the highway patrol. I looked at him and told him he had better be on his way as i would guarantee he would lose this argument. He then tried to run me off the road again. That is when i decided he was going to jail. I followed him thinking i would arrest him when he pulled into a scale station. We drove about 50 miles and i saw where another trooper had a car pulled over so i stopped and walked up to the trooper, identified myself and told him what had happened. He said his partners were coming our way and radioed them, gave them the info. They radioed back and had him in sight and said they would stop him at a rest site. I told them i was on my way. They pulled him over at the rest stop and he got out all huffed up (all 120 pounds, 5'7'' of him ), and told the trooper "You guys f$# with me every time i come into this state". The trooper told him he had better calm down as he was the one who would put him in jail. He calmed down immediately. The trooper asked if he had had trouble with anyone that day. He replied no. About that time i drove up, he looked at me and started jumping up and down saying that's him, 'the guy who has been f$#ing with me. The trooper smiled and told him, "Guess what, he is one of us, you are under arrest. He was charged with two counts of careless and reckless driving and two counts of attempted homicide with a vehicle. I got in the car with the trooper writing the one report while the other trooper placed the suspect in his vehicle. When the trooper finished the report, he said i don't want to sign this re port and have to drive all the way to Jeff City to testify. I told him i would have to testify anyway so i would sign the arrest report. I waited to be told when to show up for court but was never called. He had an attorney represent him and he pled guilty to lesser charges, however the careless and reckless driving charges carried a mandatory license suspension of three years, therefore it would be three years before he could apply for a cdl license and i doubt any reliable company would hire him again. The day of the arrest i went home and called the company he worked for and told them what had happened. I also told them we left the truck in the rest area so they could send someone to pick it up. He thanked me and then said i bet i can tell you the name of the driver also. He did and he was right so i knew they had had trouble with him before.

That wasn’t a truck, it was a tractor :o) He put the front counter weights through the rear window :D

My sister and grandma were brake checked. Back around 2008-2009, my grandma was taking her to get her cast taken off her ankle. They were in the diamond lane and someone suddenly stopped right in front of them, but the moment my grandma stops the car to prevent hitting them, they immediately take off, and a car hits them from behind. They were fine since they were in a van, but my sister still gets PTSD whenever we go on a freeway.

People need to realize when you break check the person behind you what you are actually doing is you are begging that person to smash into the back of you. So be careful what you wish for.

Only time I ever 'brake checked' someone, I was trying to save his life. It was pitch dark, no lights, and there were cows in the road that could not be seen, but I knew were there because I had been there recently before. Some guy tried to do a swift-around on me, and would likely have sped through the road and killed himself on one of the cattle. My 'nasty driving' likely saved his life, as we came up on the cows in less than one minute after the incidents. I think he might had been grateful too.

When I have tailgaters, I am in the right lane (slow lane in the USA) with a passing lane available, I don't brake check since that would escalate. I just go about 1 to 2 mph below the speed limit as if I was stupid. Eventually, the tailgaters will race around me and be on their way, they think I am too stupid to bother "teaching a lesson". When I have a stick shift I just ride the transmission rather than doing the brakes - most people assume I am going faster and slower and not trying to piss them off. They usually get the hint and are much happier passing me and speeding away anyway. When there is no safe place to pass, they are not being dicks, and I am not in a hurry, I will pull over and let them by. I have done that with trucks especially because passing for them is a royal pain. In a couple of minutes I never see these speeders again.

In 53 years of driving, I have never had anyone brakecheck me, but I have had people come from behind my semi to prevent me from changing lanes. Now I live in a state where most residents carry concealed weapons. Discourteous driving seldom happens here due to the possibility of the road rager ending up looking at the grass from underneath.

An entire video where the word "brake" is spelled "break" in almost every clip. That's award-worthy. Remember people, spell check is NOT a substitute for proofreading!

One thing I've noticed is that some of these cops that get brake checked are tailgating the crap out of some people before hand.

The second clip wasn’t even a trucker, but a farm tractor they brake checked. Farm tractors rarely have good brakes.

I saw a brake check and collision. THEN 4 PEOPLE JUMPEDIN BACK SEAT OF HIT CAR AND THEY TRIED TO SUE INSURANCE AND GOOD DRIVER. THEY WENT TO JAIL FOR SCAM! 😅

Had an incident where someone was tailgating the shit out of me. I didnt brake check them, but i did take my foot off the gas somewhat and very gradually slowed down. They finally passed me. It was a cop car.

You never, ever brake check a semi. If they have a full load, they slam on the brakes and the load shifts forward towards the back of the cab, the load will push the semi forward and you’ll get creamed. Same with sitting in the semis blind spot. They can’t see you. If they move into your lane you’ll have a bad accident. It won’t hurt the semi but you’ll have a bad day.

I still think my favorite was some a-hole brake checked a semi and got rear ended like 3 or 4 times before the truck was able to stop. Then he got out and quote "That was unnecessary!". Yeah, it was, D-bag. 🤣🤣🤣

The question I pose to break checkers. "Who appointed you the punisher of slow drivers?"

I had someone go around me and brake check me as I was going going uphill with a full load of whey on the trailer. Then he showed up at the one station I can pull the truck into to get supplies for the house while working. He said "Next time I'm putting you in the ditch!". I really would like to see him try with that charger, the only car model that I've seen 5 of sitting by side looking perfect, but we're totalled due to chassis damage. He got us both kicked out, and himself permanently banned because I didn't come in to start trouble. He did.

No way was any of the Cops following the 2 second rule.

Undercover cop sure’s like tailgating

I'll admit that I've accidentally brake checked a cop. It was completely accidental because he got right up on my bumper (w/o emergency lights on) at 55 mph and I did a double tap on the brake pedal just enough to activate the brake lights. Well, the second tap put my nose down. He was getting ready to pull me over for running a red light (I entered the intersection on a yellow) and for some reason, this department limes to tailgate before initiating a pullover. Oddly enough, he never mentioned the brake check during the entire encounter.

When the driver brake check the cop and his lights came on. The person who edited this video to add that music to it at that very time. I want to say thank you. It was so funny.

My friend got tailgated while passing a slower truck by a driver who was going way over the speed limit. My buddy passed the truck and got over in the right lane. That wasn't good enough for Audi boy, he gets in front of my friend, almost clipping the corner of his truck and then brake checks him. My friend had enough by then so he hammers the throttle and proceeds to total the Audi. Cops come and Audi boy mouths off to the cops. The truck driver stops and backs up my friend's story. Cop tells my buddy he's making damn sure he's in court for that case. My buddy said if you can't Dodge them, then Ram them. . Lol His truck is a diesel Ram which was uninjured in the episode.

4:42 looked like the first brake the guy did was due to road conditions and traffic ahead…likely as a result of not having light on… Just cos you brake on a freeway with a car behind you does NOT automatically define it as brake checking…

Along with being obnoxious, I think many drivers actually believe that all vehicles are able to stop in the same distance as themselves.

In the U.K. tailgating is considered dangerous, and is an offence. Despite that, many still do it. It appears from some of these clips that tailgating is a problem in the USA as well?

Happened to my sister driving alone on the highway at night, a guy on a Suzuki Alto brake checked her out of nowhere, sadly for him my sister had a really slow reaction due to having the music too loud and being distracted(im not saying that was nice tho, she should be more aware), the thing is she was draving my uncle's Ford Ranger Raptor at about 110km/h and the little car was just thrown away like a toy to the side of the road which was on a hill, as she stopped she could see the little car going down the hill and starting to roll and catch fire. For further info, shes ok, the Ford had scratches on the paint and the guy on the Suzuki almost lost his life, hes on a wheelchair for the rest of it tho. As for of insurance and things go, a biker with dash cam behind her sent the video to her, so the Suzuki Driver was proven guilty and had to pay for the paint on the Ford too. So yeah, dont brake check people.

I knew a guy who was going down the highway and some bozo passed him and then pulled in front and then hit the breaks. He ended up hitting him. It went to court and the judge sided with the break checker saying he was following too close. Of course there was no camera.

I got brake checked like at 8:02 once. Guy kept stopping on an offramp from a highway, on an aerial overpass above a city. Maybe he thought I was tailgating. I try not to, but certain congested areas it is unavoidable. Gotta get my dashcam installed for next crazy person.

I treat trucks and their drivers with utmost deference. I give them plenty of room and never pass then jump close right in front of them. If he is signaling to move right, into my lane, I turn my lights on and off to let him know it's safe. I was taught the rules when I was 17, by a truck driver/bus driver cousin of mine and am forever grateful.

The one where they say the guy brake-checked a cop 3 times. That’s obviously stupid, but the officer is also harassing the driver, tailgating him and shining his spotlight while following too close for quite awhile.
