My dad left my bro at a rest area on vaca once. First thing in the morning dawn was breaking when he uturned on the freeway. Dad talked to a pillow for a hour. Bro met a nice family that had the same van as us. Same bro 40 yrs later has a wife that likes to give birth in the middle of the night. Closest relative was a hour away. He packed up his son and wife and hightailed to hospital. Once baby came and reinforcements were there he went outside for a break. To find his van still running with the keys in, and side door wide open. Good thing it was 3am and in a nice area. And nephew has a great story about how dad let him see his sister born.

All those kitchen mishaps reinforced my mom's instruction to NEVER leave the kitchen when cooking anything. If i do leave it, i have a timer on to remind me when to turn off my stove/oven.

I worked with a guy that forgot where he parked his car after a night of drinking in north philly. After looking for his car for weeks or months, he finally gave up and bought another car, about five years later one of his relatives found it. They put a battery in it, it started up. No one had ever touched it.

Anyone have a burned pan like the rice cooker? Those Magic Eraser sheets will do a lot, then use some of the liquid chalky cleaner that you use on glass-topped stoves (and a lot of elbow grease!)... and then whatever's left, use fine-grained sandpaper. I had to do that very thing on one of my favorite small stainless steel pans, but it was worth it, because that steel is HEAVY. That pan should last a lifetime.

there's away to fix the burnt pot, half fill it with water an add drain cleaner, soak for 2 days then rinse and scrub, it work for me when I burt a small pot by boiling it dry overnight.
