I was there, and was not YET a Dylan aficionado, but a burgeoning Deadhead. This show was a game changer. It was SO hot, and so TIGHT down front that my friend and I went towards the back after the 1st Dead Set. A few days before I was In Rochester, Ny for a really great Dead show. This 4th of July weekend really set me on a path. Thank you for posting this!!
Was there, So Young [going into sophomore yr FPC]. Hot 🔥 day. Dylan was so nasal'y couldn't make out any of his words- the crowd was so loud and Helped sing out so loudly the chorus 'The Times They are a Changing'.

Bob Dylan is a rudimentary musician and "singer" at best/ but he is simply a Genius of a songwriter/ and that's what really matters when all is said and done !!!###

I was there! Went up front to take pix and it was brutal. The parking lot looked like VietNam. He played 6 shows with the Dead that summer. I went to 5 of them.
I'm a big fan of Bob and love his extemporising. And the Dead were the most wonderful extemporisers around. I've played 'Garcia plays Dylan" to death. But together... I dunno... I think it shows that someone needs to have a clear vision of where things are going. The sum is less than the parts.

The story of the Emperor's New Clothes has never been so applicable! Can't we all just agree that there are times when Dylan can neither play guitar or sing well. Frankly if he were a busker I definitely wouldn't even toss him a penny. (And I am a Dylan fan, but not deaf)

I never liked stadium Dylan very much. Even the Tacoma show in 1986 with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers had Dylan singing like a Dylan impersonator. I never saw any of his shows with The Grateful Dead because I prefer seeing him in a arena or a small theater. Judging from the "Dylan And The Dead" record from 1989, I wasn't missing much.
