I'm just here at 2014 and finished the game, and I have to say.. Timeshift is one of the best FPS i've ever played: simple gameplay, amazing story, good difficulty(played on Elite) and awesome ending, really makes you think!
Explanation of the TimeParadox in this game by MISTERAMD : My theory after watching some recorded footage is, In the beginning, when you start a new game, you are going to use the suit to get back in time to stop Krone. The bomb explodes in the building just as you go back in time. At the end of the game, you have just killed Krone in the past, you come back in the normal time, the timer of the bomb goes from 3..2..1... kaboem. You reverse time of the bomb, to stop the bomb and save your wife, yet because you stopped the bomb, you actually never went back in time. While reversing the time, to stop the bomb, you prevent yourself from going back in time, you prevent yourself to kill Krone and in the end you can never come back from the past to stop the bomb as you never went to the past, because the bomb never exploded. Timeparadox. Whenever there will be a sequel, it will be a whole new game.
+MISTERAMD Some people were saying that the woman on the floor was also the person in the suit... I never played this game and I didn't watch the rest of the videos so I wouldn't know... I just came here because someone in another conversation directed me here.
Look in the beginning of the game you can clearly hear some1 saying evac or something i didn't catch that part but you can clearly hear a man saying that and that man is the same man who goes inside the beta suit! Also a side note:If you paid close attention to the game you can see that he didn't just disappear from the paradox and really it isnt a paradox if you see what the suit can do.As he went back in time and killed krone that was a diffrent timeline in wich WW2 was started by Krone so you really didnt cause any paradox. When you came back and stoped the bomb you just deleted what ever happened before you jumped back to kill Krone thus why the AI made the character time jump because if he stayed any longer he would mess up the whole timeline by making a paradox!
2017 - this ending still blows my mind. So few games with such "paradox" ending. And I'm sure that in some alternative timeline there is TimeShift 2, TimeShift 3 and so on...
no, the time suit protects you from any effects of time interference, other wise krone would have died going back to 1939 because he wasnt born or very young.
many different explanations... basically comes down to: If you go back and stop the bomb, you cannot stay, for multiple reasons; you are about to enter the room and interact with yourself, creating paradox, you stopped the bomb therefor stopping you from going back at all, therefor you no longer exist here on this timeline. many ways to see it but one real answer: if you save them, you cannot stay.
@k750ix2 Krone was the guy controlling the machinery. He fell out, you smashed his head in, and made a time jump from the alternate universe that he created to the alternate universe that you made by killing him after taking what was keeping you from getting out. The machine then detects that the alternate you is coming into the room that your now not dead colleagues are in and makes a time jump out in order to keep you from seeing yourself. Thumb this up, please, so others will see?
Its stupid how some people think that the protagonist is the women thrown on the floor, when playing the game you could hear your character screaming when taking damage or breathing when crouching and it clearly sounds like a male.
Time paradoxes only happen when assuming that you're jumping through a single timeline. It's much easier to assume, however, that there are multiple timelines available when causing any action to happen that deviates from the original. If you meet yourself, it's obviously not going to be fun for one of you, but it doesn't mean that you or your original self will magically disappear into the aether. Am I understanding you correctly, or not at all?
i think all of us should just roll with it because when it comes to time and paradoxs there is no way in hell we're ever going to fully understand it all. there is always something that wont make sence or just plain confuses us all.
For those that want some context with the Time Paradox at the end it is confirmed we are not actually jumping through time. We are jumping to other timelines, so when we get to the ending we just jumped to a timeline similar to the original and stopped the bomb, but at that moment there are two Timesuits, two main characters, there can't be two of you, two suits of the same make, so the suit just pulls you out of that situation to prevent that from happening. That is pretty much it, are there plot holes still? Like the lady would see you were there and then as you disappear the security footage would also probably show you there, and a bunch of other time stuff because of paradoxes, but that is just inherit to time travel plots in any media. Plus fun game.
He didn't jump as soon as the bomb exploded. He disabled it about 2 seconds before it exploded and he jumped about a second after it did explode. That gave him 3 seconds. And it was raughly 3 seconds before the suit detected the paradox.
Hey guys, if anyone overlooked this fact, he used KRONE'S temporal origin drive to return to his own time. So Krone can't return to the present again because he's DEAD! So now, the alpha suit is gone, and whatever you did to create the paradox, besides the bomb thing, if they make another game. It's going to have to do with YOU! The main character, because krone is G-O-N-E GONE forever!
Tell me if I'm wrong, but there shouldn't be a paradox. It is believed to be a paradox because if the bomb didn't explose, there would be no reason for him to go back to disable it. But if we think of it this way: He went back to stop the timer before it blew up, and he did it at the same time as the first instance of him was using the suit. The first instance of him would travel away while the latter instance disabled the timer. The first wouldn't even know about it.
You would be right if we were never shown that the explosion went off, but then was prevented by the protagonist. If it happened like you described, we would go to the past, kill Krone, retrieve his time module, return and manage to turn the bomb off before it had blown up. But here's the thing: it did blow up, because the explosion is the very reason our suit got damaged and we had to get Krone's time module in order to return to the present. That means that if it's not a parallel universe but the original one, we disabled the bomb and with it the very reason we couldn't return immediately.
@Momentum139 that's because she isn't the main character, according to the game manual in the box (if u didn't download it) you are a retired air force test pilot.
@k750ix2 He went back in time because the suit has that thing that rewinds the time if you are about to die. He didn't control the jump in the first place and got into an alternate reality. And when he comes back and stops the bomb, he stops the very thing that made his suit glitch so it creates a paradox. Hope you understand :)
@HappyGuyxlii Firstly - do not fuse alternative timelines. Secondly - the hero deactivates the bomb. Paradox itself is that if there's no explosion the hero won't (have a reason to) jump to the past and then back to the future so he won't deactivate the bomb. It's all about cause-and-effect relation... Finaly, 2 questions: 1) With this costume the hero can jump not only within one timeline but more? 2) Where did jump?
I mean, it was only after the main character realised he's in an alternate timeline and tries to go back and finds that the origin drive gets disabled. So SSAM the AI in the suit modifies the time drive to give him time slowing, stopping, rewinding powers. So, theoretically, his mission was not to follow Dr. Crone to the past but to catch Dr. Crone before he left thereby defusing the bomb. The mad doctor knew this could happen so he disabled the origin drive in the beta suit. Because if the origin drive was enabled, then this is what the player had to do. They couldn't rewind time at first so the suit takes them to a different time to save him from explosion. Then he tries to come back. The suit knows doing that will kill him as it returns him to the time of explosion. The suit decides to do both, i.e. protect the player and bring him back by modifying the time drive to give him time manipulative powers like the suit did in the original gameplay. That way all the player has to do is go back to origin point to the explosion. Rewind time, saving his girlfriend and getting crone before he jumps. And killing him. But doing that will be boring. So yeah.
@epicduckeh6 no, only reversing, he back in time to disarming bomb and then, change future, thats why he got (?) time paradox and... jumped to somewhere, hawai?
There was a mention somewhere that the paradox happened because the helmet was about to come off. Why is that a paradox, you ask? Because according to the theory, the scientist on the floor IS the person in the suit. And that's as confusing as all get-out. Try explaining THAT.
Wtf? The scientist in the suit is the main character's girlfriend. The paradox happened because of a different reason. It's because he stopped the bomb from exploding.
To all who don't know what a paradox is a paradox is basically like you went back in time to kill your grandfather but you would slowly fade out of exsistence so what happens here is that the women on the floor is the person you play as through the game so you got in the suit and got everbody and then you return so she stopped the bomb because in this universe she fell and never made it to the suit so she stopped the bomb but since she did all the stuff in the past ment she really did nothing so
Exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself. In other words, he cant return to his original time at all unless its after his former self made the jump, and he cant alter anything in the past that would damage or change his timeline. Either way, the lab HAS to explode or he will cease to exist.
the reason a time paradox occurred is because he went back to stop a bomb that would have made the other him that was getting in the suit at that time not have to do a jump and he wouldnt have stopped krone, and besides what he needed to do is go back and kill krone then diffuse the bomb to stop the paradox in 1939. even if he had done this the version of him that stopped the bomb and saved the day couldnt be there because there would then be two of them so what he did still let krone escape
Yeah, but by disabling the bomb - A paradox in his own timeline is created, as he wouldn't even be there if the bomb didn't explode, so by turning it off... He pretty much would have deleted himself had the suit not made an emergency jump.
should come out wit a second one and this time theres a new suit thats better than the alpha and beta suit combined and the man in this Omega suit is even more insane than Krone
it says paradox inminent because he stoped the bomb, so he never jumped to the past, etc. so, S.S.A.M. (suits AI) returned him to his "original" timeline, in witch the bomb explodes, and kills his girlfriend. So, i think that the character will search for a way to disable SSAM and stay in the timeline he wants, in a future sequel
actually he rewound time so the one that was gunna make the original jump was put back into the present so there would b two beta suits causing the paradox
this leave a lesson: mess with time, and you create A PIME TARADOX!!!!!!! I mean, TIME PARADOX!!!!! TIIIIIIIIIIIIMEEEEEEEE PAAAAAAARAAAAAAADOOOOOOOOOOOX
she faded out of exsistence because she saved herself and the paradox happened when she was taking off here helmet so she would have sawn her own face so basically she did all that stuff for nothing
dude its a fking game :S btw if you didnt know what the paradox imminent meant at the end it meant that he has to time warp to a closer place back to his ORIGINAL time line because there are two of him and his beta suit can detect when he has to time warp because the other 1 of him is gonna come in that room soon so yeah if u just got what i said
There is something that I dont understand, I understand that Kron went to the past to build his own reality, also, according with the videos this reality was suposed to impact our, I also understand that the player went to kill him and why, and also some posible sources of the paradox, but the point that I dont understand is who the hell designs a bomb that can be deactivated with just pushing a button in the front.
No one was supposed to reach the bomb in time to defuse it. Too bad the main character can rewind time. As for the paradox, it didn't happen because the bb exploded, that was the immediate cause. The paradox happened because the main character was set to be 'paradoxed away' from the moment Dr. Crone disabled the origin drive of the beta suit. If Dr. Crone didn't tamper with the origin drive, then this is how the events would be set up. 1) Dr. Crone activates the bomb and goes to the past. 2) The player wears the beta suit. 3) The bomb explodes. 4) SSAM, the AI in the beta suit makes an emergency jump to protect the user. 5) The player goes to an alternate timeline. 6) He tries to come back to his time using the origin drive. Now, in the original game the player knows that the best way to stop Crone is to get him before he jumps and that means origin drive. However the bomb is still ticking. 7) Player arrives at explosion point. 8) SSAM gives the player the time manipulative powers so the player reverses the explosion. He keeps reversing until Dr. Crone comes back before he time jumps. 9) The player kills him.
there is a paradox because que deactivated the bomb and the explosion didn't occurr, so he didn't jump because there were no explosion, but it should be much cooler if he killed kroner before setting the trap, and there the paradox would better xD, because the future won't exist and it will be like he didn't jump and because of that he didn't existed in the future, in the past or in the present, so he would be trapped into time and space forever
Normally, a paradox would destroy all timeline related to the events though. That'd mean nothing that happens in TimeShift would happen at all. No suits, nothing.
he divided by ZERO, well actually the computer in the suit did and the comp was like OH SHIT TIME PARADOX! and that guy was about to take of his helm and he was like WTF BITCH?! PARADOX? BULLSHIT! and that women was liek what the hell just happened 0_o
i herd about a paradox correcter. i herd that a paradox corrector maks it so if u kill yurself in the past ull still be alive in the future (for real life, not the game...maybe)
exactly u are the first one to make sence of it. that is the trouble with timetraviling, it just like the grandfather effect if u kill ur grandfather before u were born then he could not have ur fater and thus u would not have been born to go back in time to kill him which in turn creates a paradox. isnt theoretical physics fun :)
