Compression makes power! I think port shape, port velocity, and volumetric efficiency are more important than most numbers you'll hear about in the porting world. It's just an air pump! Gotta make it as efficient as possible.
Too much case compression and velocity will blow the charge right out the exhaust port especially at high rpm. It’s all a balance. That’s why port sizes, shapes are vitally important.
