I'm a Spanish-speaking Filipino and understood this 100%. It sounds like a Filipino accent in Spanish or our Chabacano creole, except for the clear "f" and "v" sounds. This is not as musical as Brazilian or as vigorous as the European version of Portuguese, but very clear and pleasant to ear.
Timorese Portuguese sounds fairly neutral and clear while Brazilian Portuguese is melodic and the European one has too much merging of consonants. I also notice that Italian, Spanish and Portuguese are easy to the tongues of Austronesian and Japanese speakers since they produce almost the same sounds.
I agree. This is also the reason why loanwords from Spanish to Tagalog/Philippine languages are more organic sounding than those from English, due to the straightforward phonetic sounds that both Romance & Austronesian language possess.
Indonesian language, especially the eastern dialects have a lot of portuguese/spanish loanwords: meja, kadera, capeo, testa, lenso, kintal, martelu, (ta)sono, gereja, sabtu, minggu, pombo, keju, mentega, etc

Yeah, it has final s pronounce as s, final “z” pronounced as “z”, final “l” pronouced as “w”, and every “e” are pronouced and are pronouced as “e” from Brazilian Portuguese, and “d” and “t” are always pronounced as “d” and ”t” before “e” or “i” and mot like “d͡ʒ” or “t͡ʃ”, every “o” are pronounced as “o”, and I love it, looks like a Spanish accent but with more or less features
@@AllanLimosin Most Brazilians don't pronounce every "e" and "o" (specially the final unstressed "e"s and "o"s) like that. I think his accent sounds more like someone from the South of Brazil, which has a more Spanish-like sounding accent.

Este é uma variedade do português que deve descender da época quando não havia a forte redução de vogais átonas no português europeu, excetuando-se as influências locais. O mesmo com o português brasileiro.
Na verdade, acho que não. Nessa época os portugueses mal se estabeleceram na asia, nem na africa direito, eu tenho duas teorias, a primeira é que assim como o português africano, a língua materna enfluenciou a fala deles, a segunda é que devido ao português brasileiro ser ensinado nas escolas, junto com o europeu, houve uma mescla de sotaques.

Muitos timorenses não têm o português como língua materna. Falam o tetum e outras línguas. Daí a impressão do português do vídeo ser mais "pausadinho" (provavelmente é alguém que aprendeu o idioma depois de adulto). Os timorenses que eram adultos à época da invasão indonésia (1975) falam um português bastante próximo ao da então metrópole.
Sim.Depois da independência o ensino do português foi retomado com o envio de centenas de professoras brasileiras com o apoio da ONU.Antes disso os poucos que falavam lembrava muito o português de Portugal misturado com línguas nativas.Eu assisti um documentário dessa época e não entendi quase nada quando eles falaram.As professoras brasileiras ajudaram muito nessa recuperação da língua.
@@BOLSONARONACADEIA o português é uma língua internacional. Daí esse esforço em reviver o seu uso. Mas a língua que todos falam é o tetum. Aliás, é um idioma bem peculiar porque usa palavras do português numa estrutura gramatical não indo-europeia.
The indonesian rolling "r" that we got from the dutch is very similar to the spanish "r" and how we pronounce stuff is also heavily influenced by the dutch which in some ways made indonesian malay somehwat sounds like a romance language from the iberian region, my guess is contact and indonesian occupation under soeharto had a big influence on timorese portuguese.
Isso é devido as centenas de professoras brasileiras que foram ensinar português brasileiro logo depois da independência do Timor.Antes os poucos que falavam tinham mais sotaque de Portugal misturado com linguas indonésias.Atualmente o sotaque deles é uma mistura do nosso português com o de Portugal,Angola e linguas nativas do país.Eu também acho que é a mais próxima da nossa.
Eu estou a aprender bahasa indonésia e há similitudes na pronúncia do português de Timor Leste, acho que é porque o Tétum (uma das línguas oficias de Timor Leste) tem origem austronesio da mesma forma que a bahasa indonésia.
@@ArthurPPaiva a nasalidade nestas linguas pelo que me lembro é consonantal e não nasal, o dígrafo referente creio que seja o NG que dá mais ou menos o mesmo som do inglês, as vogais não tem som nasal nestas linguas...e quando eles pronunciam o por exemplo AVIÃO soa mais ou menos como aviANG...parecido com gANG em inglês, ou seja não é uma vogal nasal e sim uma vogal seguida de uma consoante nasal..o que é bem diferente
Em questão de sonoridade, está mais próximo do Português do Brasil pelo fato que não engolem as sílabas, pelo que vi no vídeo todas as sílabas são pronunciadas claramente assim como no Brasil, enquanto no Português de Portugal e dos países da África se come algumas sílabas e vogais.
I think it's a mix between Brazilian accent and mozambiquean accent, and it seems they have some difficulties with nasal vowels, looks like someone with nasal congestion..

I found the Portuguese from Timor Leste very different from the Portuguese from Brazil, as an American 🌎 (specifically I am from Chile), I am used to hearing the Portuguese from Brazil and it is the first time that I hear the Portuguese from Timor Leste.

I want to see how well Chavacano, Kristang, and Timorese Portuguese speakers understand each other. They all seem to have an Austronesian influence on their languages and accents that may make it easier for them to communicate than, let's say, a Brazilian Portuguese speaker and an Argentine Spanish speaker would.
To my ears, it sounds more like an accent from the South region than from the Amazon. The way he pronounces the "r", the final "e"s, the way he says words like "três", etc, is undoubtedly closer to gaúcho accent (in the South region of Brazil).

It’s probably just me, but if I didn’t know any better I would’ve guess that this accent is from the area of the Brazil and Paraguay border. It has a bit of Guaraní sound to it. Hope I made sense.
There are some particularities to his accent. pronouncing J like an English speaker would. sujeito e agir = suDJeito, aDJir. and the D like some Hispanic or English speakers would pronounce. Todo = Toro (rolled R)

Eu gosto das línguas latinas. Italiano, espanhol, português, francês dentre outras. Até no inglês 30% do vocabulário vem do latim. Seria mais vantajoso o Timor falar português.
Not true, I find it strange as well as a Timorese. A lot of us pronounce ʒ, especially those who are proficient in the language like teachers, politicians and newscasters. Both dʒ and ʒ are not native sounds and does not exist in local languages. He probably pronounces dʒ because we are also very much exposed to languages like Indonesian and English in which dʒ sound is very common.

Timorense portuguese in fonetics is similar today like interlingua, the vowels have 1 sound the first only no variations, and the consonants have 1 sound the fists no variations, today very exactly in fonetics, the brazilian portuguese have many variations in sounds of consonants and vowels and european portuguese have many variations in sounds, a little bit than brazilian portuguese hall the same provkem and the same way .
As an Indonesian it just sounds like Portuguese with a general Indonesian accent, I definitely would have zero problem with pronunciation if I started learning accent.

The phonology (at least in this video) has a lot of diferences with European portuguese. To me as a native brazilian portuguese, timor portuguese is closer to brazilian portuguese phonology but its R and J are pronounced very different
