Can you bake bread in a tin? Yes you can, can ;-) I was sent this recipe a long time ago but never had a reason to make it or see if it will work.
As we have just moved & could not find our baking tins to hand, plus only have a temporary oven that is quite small, I figured it was a great time to try it out!
The bread forms a lovely crust, just like it had been baked in a loaf tin. The rest of the loaf, is softer as it is not exposed and is more like a bread roll, but ultimately, it did work and this was just a very basic dough!

For decades my Grandma baked bread in large tin cans. This was done so she could get 12 loaves in the oven all at once. She lived on a farm and when her children were young this was done about once a week. My Mom and Aunt learned how to do this as well, so now that she is gone we are still able to make her bread. ❤️

When I lived in Missoula, Montana (USA), there was a restaurant that made sandwiches using this bread. They would pull out the inside of the loaf and fill it with sandwich meats and fixings. It was called the club foot sandwich. The restaurant's name is The Staggering Ox. Would highly recommend eating there!

I was once given a department store mannequin. (Long story, don't ask.) I put her in my living room. Every day I'd come home from work, open the door, see her, and scream. So I moved her to the kitchen. Then several times a day I'd walk into the kitchen to cook or get a glass of water, see her, and scream. I finally had to get rid of her, because I'm sure the neighbors thought they were living next door to the Addams Family or something.

Made this as a kid when camping! We kept the dries in a plastic bag and the wets in another, got a campfire going, emptied the tin (probably beans) in a pot, emptied the dries and wets in the tin and mixed, then popped it on the fire and cooked it alongside. Very tasty! If you end up doing a camping food video like you mentioned revisit this one!

My mum used to make a country style loaf in tin cans, the really big ones you get for catering purposes. She worked for a resthome and would get the empty cans of beans and what not, then make bread in them. This was back in the early '90s, and I've never forgotten, even if I've never tried it because I have a habit of killing yeast when attempting to make bread. :-D

Beans slow baked with a ham hock, a whole onion, molasses, mustard, brown sugar, a little maple syrup and covered with water. Yum. Laundry in a kitchen or bathroom: if you don't have space for a laundry room then the washer has to go in a room with plumbing, that's either a kitchen or a bathroom. It's really that simple. Which of those rooms has more space is kind of the determination. From what I've seen, if there's a space in the kitchen it's more likely to be a dishwasher than a clothes washer.

Double your butter and make liquid gold. The bread will be richer and yummier and it'll be properly incorporated. Also use less flour! I know it's sticky at first but it's supposed to be. You'll get a really dry bread by adding too much flour. Rookie. I make much bread at home. But this is a great recipe

I did something like this years ago using beer cans and bread made using some of the beer they contained. Supermarkets around me have the problem where the mills are open to make the flour but the bag makers aren't so the only option is 16kg sacks for £9. My usual bread "tin" is a silicon bowl that has a slot and tab thing that lets you curl the bowl around the dough for rising and baking, might be worth checking them out for a bakers bundle.

Good grief Barry. The angel sound with halo over the wrap master 300. It made me laugh so hard. Go Barry

In Finland washing machine is usually in bathroom. I have it close to my shower as most households that I know. Some (mostly newer or/and newly renovated households) has separeted laundry rooms

@@mrbarrylewis I actually think I've never visited a household in Finland that has washing machine in the kitchen in my almost 30 years of living. It's funny how different our "normal" things are!

Washing machines in the kitchen is only popular here in NZ for studio/1br apartments. My apartment had a washing machine/dryer closet in the main bathroom, but yeah its normal here to have a seperate utility room, or else in the garage

You should Make some giant food with the girls when you finally get a working oven! Bring in the home schooling teaching the girls the size ratios of the original food and the giant food 😊

Finding Jason Manford teaching us how to make bread in soup tins is where lock down has got me to.

Laundry in a downstairs bathroom is pretty common, if you don't have a separate laundry room. I figure it's because you can have all of the plumbing and such in one area. Upstairs laundries are also more common in newer homes, since generally the upstairs creates the most laundry, and then you don't have to schlep it up and down the stairs.

WaywardHero 117 You mean in the hallway? That’s my experience with smaller apartments and homes. Never seen them in the bathroom itself though. Of course any place with a garage will have them in there..

Restaurant name Christies in St Peter Port on Guernsey serves individual loaves like this but cooked in 4 inch plant pots with the taper helping to release the bread.

I have a lovely can opener that takes the top off without leaving a lip and no sharp edges. You can even use the top as a lid.
