The Iron Giant is still a fav of mine. What a fantastic film. Brad Bird did a good job along with his team of creative animators and writers.

Every restaurant within a 3 mile radius: Where is all the foil!? Jazza: It's a *medium* for my expression.

I love Iron Giant, I cried so hard several times at that movie and I never understood why it was a box office failure. It was BRILLIANT! Your recreation was delightful and I applaud you for even trying it. I can only imagine how good it could be if you'd let yourself put clay on, but I think it would have lost some of it's charm. :)

One of my favorite things about Jazza is that I truly have no idea what video he will come out with next! I love how he has such a wide variety of traditional illustrations, digital illustrations, animations, sculptures with a variety of materials (clay, felt, foil, etc), and more!

Using a ball-peen hammer in a similar method to making the once popular polished aluminum foil spheres might also work for making sculptures.

Don’t know why but watching this video made me cry (in a happy way). When I was younger I loved making crafts but we didn’t have a lot so one day I used tin foil to make this little whale family. I showed my mother and she just yelled at me for “wasting all the foil”. Wish so badly I could show my younger self this video back then. Thank you so much Jazza for this video.

I love these types of art with a few simple things that we all have at home that we could actually emulate if we pleased, so many creators do these huge sculptures with loads of expensive supplies that we just couldn’t afford and instead of feeling inspired you actually feel empty that you wished you could do something on a smaller scale but don’t have the right stuff. This is fun, entertaining and possible I love it 😍

Hi! I did this in middle school! We used sandpaper to smooth out the surface for my detail work!

There is this Aluminium-Folie Tape. I use it to make my books look like they have metal covers. Taped over gears coins and so on. With a pen it can be "engraved" to give it some texture. There are also people who engrave or impression aluminum Foil (and fill the back of it with plaster). There are some really impressive aluminum arts out there . This time I think Jazza didn't even came close to find out what foil can do.

As an alternative to this you could find an engineer to help you machine some metal parts rather than spending a fortune on aluminum foil. Colinfurze would be perfect for the job.

Jazza, you have inspired me to start drawing again and start doing character designs. Lately I've been drawing along with some of your older tutorial videos. They are so helpful. I love the direction you have taken with your channel and that you have remained authentic along the way and so supportive of the art community as a whole.

From using aluminum in my own sculpture that I'm working on now, Aluminum tape has been the biggest help to smooth out details! Just in case anyone else wants to challenge themselves with something like this

Hey Jazza, I actually do this as my hobby. And a tip is to use ducktape it works very well. I've made many things in tin foil. And you did very well for your first time. I'm impressed!!!!

To make it smooth just do what me and my friends used to do as kids mess up the tables in the cafeteria by rubbing the aluminum against it and leaving marks

Anyone else played with tinfoil as a kid from their packed lunch? Its so satisfying when you try and make scrunchy parts flat again with your fingers.. ive kinda been wondering for a whike if tinfoil art was possible, great video!

I love the defiant little hairs on the back of his head.... they are like children when you are in the middle of a meeting on Skype.... just popping into the back ground every now and then..... And to be clear, i am not making fun of his hair or the fact it isn't perfect, i am just Anthropomorphizing strings of coloured keratin into deviants because it brings me joy.......

@Jazza you probably won’t read this but there’s this amazing artist that makes clay sculptures, his name is John Tsang, I’ve been learning about him in art class at school and I love it! I would really appreciate it if you maybe made a video on trying to make similar clay sculpts as his, thanks! 😊

I love the film, was one of my favourites when my kids were going up. Might have to re-watch it later 😀 Wasn't very hopeful for this project but turned out surprisingly well.

I feel like you could have hammered the foil into a more solid/dense object and then polished it like the Japanese foil ball trend and it would have made for a much more appealing sculpture.

Nice work! Aluminum foil is actually how I learned to sculpt for years before I switched to polymer clay (I wasn't allowed to play with clay in the house because I was a messy child who would get play-doh crumbles everywhere). I still sometimes use the technique for my armatures. Anything with a lot of projecting/pointy bits will usually require multiple parts and hot glue, but you'd be surprised what you can do with a single sheet. I sometimes use foil chocolate wrappers as a party trick, any animal or dinosaur you want in ten minutes or less or its free (I mean its still free either way, it's just a candy wrapper lol).

I didn't expect a foil robot to be cute, but aww, he's cute =) I second the recommendation to watch the movie. Get a hanky ready, though.

You can actually get a nice smooth foil after scrunching it by rubbing it with the back of a spoon with medium hard pressure. You can shine it up and smooth it out beautifully. My kids do this when they use it to make space suits and things.

The lights in the eyes were a nice touch!

Jazza! If you look up, you can make foil smooth! People on RU-vid have made foil balls in smooth round foil balls. I think it would help in this project.

This reminded me of the scratch-built scale aluminum WWII planes made from aluminum. Taking years to complete they are truly masterpieces that would melt Jazza's heart lol!

This came out amazing! Oh my gosh!! Came out so cool. I have a very very specific memory of where I was when I first saw The Iron Giant as a kid. I know exactly what I was doing, exactly where I was and who was with me, and around the general age I was. This video brought back that memory for me.

I love making cavas painting with alleminium foil. You put a drawing with hot glue on a canvas then i put foil on it 3 or 4 layers with pva glue and top layers with spray glue because that dries faster. When you do this then scratch on it in paterns or random , after 3 days it was dry and then it looks like sheet metal that you bang it in with a hamer
