My buddy does it with razor blades. Clean cut ever time. The problem with a grinder he found out was the metal dust and hot burs were making surface rust and the hot flakes was taking of paint and rusting. But everyone has their own way.

I use a grinder to cut the length and a utility knife for the width. Actually use a grinder for anything on a roof or when it's to cold for snips on siding. My go to tool besides having a jig and using a circular saw for cutting vinyl.

Also take note that when you use a nibbler, it makes a MILLION tiny sharp metal shards and will get stuck in the soles of your shoes, your clothes, your carpet, your vehicle, etc etc etc etc. If you are going to use one, do it outside. And yes, harder to get a straight line compared to an angle grinder with a cutoff disk.
@walkinharmonyhomestead2888
@walkinharmonyhomestead2888 Год назад
All the metal bits are caught in that little bag. I was skeptical that they were at first, but I tested it. None fell to the floor. And I didn’t find it difficult to get a straight cut at all. Not sure if this guy turned it for camera angle, but I just do it straight on, not sideways.

You shouldnt be cutting cladding with a circ saw. It heats up the metal on the end too much and causes it to rust. Snips dont remove material they simply cut it without the use of friction. Thata why guys who do metal cladding and metal roofing full time are still in buisness
