You should listen to some of her hits in French. She spent a lot of time in France and has had just as much if not more success with her French songs. Not English songs sung in French but purely French songs. She’s an amazing woman.
Tina started on an Australian TV show 'Young Talent Time" aged 8, way back in 1976. In April 2013, she was voted Australia's all-time greatest female singer. btw the compere of Young Talent Time was a guy called Johnny Young who was involved with some big hits in the 1960s in Australia. He wrote "The Real Thing" and "The Girl That I Love" both sung by Rusell Morris. Both songs should definitely be reviewed here. :-)
@@melissajackson1217 Tina spent many years in France so she also sing in French. In fact it might be faire to say that she is more popular in France than Australia. Checkout her RU-vid channel. www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/why-the-french-love-tina-arena-more-than-australians-20130930-2un5j.html
I worked band venues during the 80s and 90s and got to listen to virtually every act in Australia through that era. Tina's soundcheck still rests on my soul like a forbidden gem, it wasn't for public consumption it was magic pouring out of that tiny woman still brings a lump to my throat after all these years
Tina is a vocal powerhouse! i think her and celine dion have some sing styles in common actually. i saw Tina live in Sydney again this year (last time was about 15 years ago in London when she was performing in the West End) and i think she's in her 50s now and her voice is as strong and as phenomenal as ever. just amazing. thanks for the video man :)
Tina has a beautiful voice and is a talented song writer. Chains and Sorrento Moon are my faves. Highly underrated in Australia yet after years of living in France she is considered and has been awarded National Hero status in France. We never fully appreciate the talent we have here because other Countries don't. Her version of The Prayer with Anthony Callea is just B E A U T I F U L
tina was on a show here in australia called young talent time, as a regular....as a child. she was about 10 i think so she is a veteran! Your the one Tina Arena and John Bowles 1978 Young Talent Time - Bing video
Please do more on Tina Arena, she has to be one of our most talented musicians down here in Australia. I've seen her live a few times and omgoodness, she's better live than even on her recordings. Tiny lady, huge beautiful voice!
I saw Tina Arena in my local home town theatre in regional Victoria, Australia some 20 years ago where the crowd was no more than about 800? Absolutely brilliant performer!!!😍 She is absolutely huge in France, singing in French of course!😂
Great Aussie talent, my favourite is Sorrento Moon a beautiful song. One of her first hits was Stronger Than Steel, she had some great songs . Also made it big in France where she lives with her husband and son. Also performed in theatre including Evita if I remember correctly.
Check out tina in young talent time here on youtube... search young talent time tina arena final performance.. she simgs MacArthur park that is one of her best performances & she was only 16 at the time... tina is one of australias best singer/songwriters... loved her for 40yrs..
She's just good??? Dude, understatement. I've seen several of your reaction video's now and I've gotta say, I'm not happy at all. I'm an Aussie and the first song I saw you react to was Redgum, I was only 19, during the video your face showed little to no expression and after the conclusion of the song you gave a brief summary of the song and a glowing spiel to tourism New Zealand. Just so you know, to Aussie's on Anzac day, That's not on mate. For 3 generations my sires have been soldiers.
I knew that she had co-written and recorded this but had not heard her version until now and only the Jo Dee Messina cover. Other than that, the only other song I'd heard of hers was Chains plus a few covers she did of other songs.
Never heard of her, but she reminds me of Faith Hill (Tim Mcgraw's wife) vocally. Faith's list of hits are too many to list, she retired to raise their 3 daughters. Tim flew back home after every night during his concerts. He sings "Humble & Kind" Faith's 1st hit was American Girl. And, if you love duets, no one does them better than Faith and Tim, "To Make You Fell My Love". It's literally like they forget that they are singing in front of 80 thousand people.
She is very famous in Australia, she had a huge hit with her song chains, here is the link, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6jC9Insyzgc.html
First time I hear about this singer and this song. Must say it was quite nice though a bit cliché... As Freddy Mercury sang "you can be everything you want to be, just turn yourself into anything you want to be" (Innuendo). She sings well and has a beautiful voice but she needs to get a little bit away from the mic when she intakes air, it sounds loud... Great reaction! ---------------- I would like to make 2 special suggestions almost no one will give you: 2 bands: The Warning: start with "survive" at TedX, and then "21st century blood" official video. They have a new song called "dust to dust" which is incredible. Motion Device: "thick skin" and then "doves and snakes'. There's a reason almost no one knows them, but they still are amazing! You'll see it by yourself. React to them and I will explain you why so good musicians are so unknown... Thanks a lot and enjoy! P.S. I will post this comment on a lot of your reactions because you may not see it most of the time because there are plenty of comments.
@@kane29842 Well, you're probably right - the topic of believing in yourself probably had thousands of songs throughout the years. I just mentioned Queen because they are very well known. I know the loud breathing is part of singing, especially live singing. Somehow, I don't like it, even with the most known singers and bands. I'm not stupid, I know it's almost inevitable. Maybe my criticism as shadowed the fact that overall, I really liked this song. It's beautiful and she sings it great.
Wow man, so glad you watched her. She is one of the best singers I have ever heard & she has a great tone, technique and power, yet she is underrated. Watch "Chains Tina Arena 1996 World music awards". :)
Wow, I'd forgotten about Tina. I remember her on stage as a little girl and she could sing up a storm even then. Check her out singing Chain! That's a experience.
This lady is a true performer. If you can, I recommend you watch her performane at the firefight concert. She totally owned the stage AND she brilliantly covered a Chrissy Amphlett song. That's not an easy thing for any performer to pull off in front of an Aussie crowd. Her voice is a national treasure.
At the World Music Awards Aretha Franklin called Tina a "beautiful young diva." She's also very famous in Europe. This clip wasn't her best. She has sung some amazing songs that sound sublime.
The ARIA's, it an anagram for the Australian Recording Industry Awards...you pronounce it the same way as you would for an operatic aria...it's our equivalent of the Grammy's. I've been watching Tina since she was a tiny little thing on Johnny Young's Young Talent Team, they called her Tiny Tina :)
I remember when I first saw Tina she joined the Young Talent time, and was a small girl with an amazing voice which has only gotten better with time. Brilliant one of my favourite songs of hers
Hey Ty, love the channel... Good to see you put up an Aussie artist... maybe try checking out these bands.. 1.Paul Kelly- Before Too Long 2. Cold Chisel - Flame Trees 3. Triffids - Wide Open Road 4. Go Betweens - Street Of Your Town 5. Australian Crawl - Errol 6. Spy v Spy - Don't Tear it Down... also there are plenty of good KIWI - like Canada to the US ( New Zealand bands to check out )... Split Enz/ Garage Land/ Shihad / Dragon / Headless Chickens / Scribe( Hip Hop )
Man.. i remember when this song came out and watching this very same clip. She was mega popular in the country at the time. Very nostalgic to hear it again :)
ModernRenaissanceMan Another Aussie singer to add to your list lol I bought that and quite a few of her CDs about 20 years ago. I remember her singing with Donna Summers years ago.
Tina Arena started so young, I Think around 7 years old or maybe a little bit older on a show called 'Young Talent Time' - she has always had it and has got so much better as she matured- lovely lady too 👍🏿❤️🇦🇺
Your reactions are my fav. You listen to the little guys who have slipped through the American cracks whether by chance or choice. Thank you for your channel.
Technically she wouldn’t be a perfect 10 as you can here her imperfections, but her heart is 11 and that’s all you need really. Edit: and singing while playing is another ball game, not easy. Thanks man 👍🏻
Spotted the lovely Tina at the refreshments tables in the airport waiting loung .. very beautifull lady, and very tiny. Google states her hight as 1.79m - no way mate - she's closer to 1.59m.
Tina is a child of Italian parents, but is now living and working in France. Australia never really appreciated her, but the French adore her. She married a Frenchman and has a son.
her career sort of finished after the successful collaboration with partner/manager ralph carr on the david tyson produced don't ask, if she had stuck with her manager she could have made it in the US i reckon, but one or two good songs on that old album for sure
Should check out her version of "Here Comes The Star" (Live) sung for Johnny Young's induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. He was her mentor when she was a young singer. Johnny Young wrote "Here Comes The Star" and camera cuts to him in the audience.
