Fortunate to see Tina do a 45 minute showcase gig for the music media before she was the warm-up act for the Bee Gees at Wembley a few years back. She was amazing. That voice - WOW. Shook hands with her and talked briefly. She was lovely.
I love Tina and Chains was the song that got me into her, but Heaven Help really resonates with me the most. The words mean so much personally. I'm a singer - used to be a karaoke host and now with a choir - and have always strived to be like her. I did nearly at my 'height' but not quite because she has such an out-of-this-world voice. That's what makes a real star imo.
I can't help but think why Tina Arena didn't hit the global stage during this time. Is it because that this time it was dominated by the likes of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey? She is just incredible and a true gifted vocalist. Her looks are just amazing. Been a huge fan.
I honestly think she's too well rounded to be bothered. You know she's a mensa alumnus. She's also been performing since she was three years old. She's got literally nothing to prove. Whatever she wants to do is fine by me. I'm just glad I got to see her sing Chains live and up close.
@Rey Teodorico P. Garcia Well actually, Tina Arena did hit the global stage, she was popular in the UK, with her album Don't Ask reaching no 11 in the UK Album Charts and her singles Chains, Heaven Help My Heart, Sorrento Moon and Whistle Down The Wind, all entering the Top 40 UK Singles Charts, and she was in the West End Musical Notre Dame De Paris.
@Rey Teodorico P. Garcia And she performed Chains and Whistle Down The Wind on Top of the Pops in the UK, Heaven Help My Heart on the BBC Kids show Fully Booked and Top of the Pops, and Sorrento Moon on Fully Booked.
EVERYTIME she performed on this show they cut her off before she was done singing and she's still singing her ass off into the mic but they turn it off! EVERY damn time!
I love her voice. Now is it my imagination or is Tina a slightly awkward dancer? She kind of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine Benis dances.
Shame it's a recording, not live. Look at the drums at 3:44, doesn't hit it while it is in the soundtrack... not to mention the backing vocalists, there's a female one in the track, but no female on the stage other than Tina
