Everyone who dislikes this are only disliking out of the idea that, that which is not understandable = bad. Sure Danish sound weird, but we Danes are proud and this song makes us even prouder.
Simply Beautiful.......Tina what can I say ?...You're lovely, stunning, amazing, beautiful, a dream girl, one in a million, no, one in a billion. Steffen, you're the luckiest guy in the world.
Hvad mener i!?
As I've mentioned I came to here from K.D. Langs version. God Bless Utube, I've been led to so many great artists. I watched this vid, oh, probably nine years ago. When she does that grimace at 4:07 she had me.
@emil590648 I can't remember how I discovered her, but I know it was on RU-vid. Thanks the TUBE or I would never discover this great singer. I haven't been listening to new music for many years. I listen to mostly old stuff. Her music brought me back to enjoying music again...
TRANSLATION 2 Davids faith were strong but he wanted proof so he danced out on the thin ice the moon and her beauty struck him down She tied him to a kitchen table, broke his power, and cut his hair and from his lips she drew a Hallelujah Baby you know i've been here before i've opened the window and closed the door i lived here when i first got to know you I saw you march under flags and songs but love is not a victory-walk its a wavering and despairing Hallelujah
Kurt Nilson and Tina D. Should make a duet of this song! It'd be magnificant!
What she does at 4:05 produces his face at 4:12 . He's so proud that he is littery glows. In that second he thinks he is the luckiest man alive. And he might be right...
I have to say in whatever language one chooses to sing this song, dutch, german, norweigen, swedish, french, hebrew, if it sounds great then great, but my friends from all over the world that remark about this song. I saw Jeff Buckley sing it live in New York in 1996 and there's not a version in any language that comes close to the beauty and soul and emotion, Tina's great but believe me nobody had the ability he did even LC said JB's version was untouchable. I love the Danish people tho'.
I see what you mean, but understanding both the original and the translation, I will tell you if someone ever were to translate the song into Danish it's definitely the right guy who did it. The translation is a close to the original as can be, and still beatiful poetry in another language .
Elsker Jeff Buckckleys version. Min favorit! Men er åndeløs. Denne udgave er godt nok også fantastisk!! Tusind tak til to vidunderlige danske kunstnere!!
English: The story goes that David once pleased God with a rare song but music has never really, truely interested you, has it? It goes like this - a fourth, a fifth, a minor fall that ends blind. The fallen king sings Hallelujah.
Tusind tak for uploadet :)
For the ignorant ass*s out there...language is one of the most beautiful things in the world. It is utterly divine to hear an "english/american" song being sung in a foreign tongue. Diversity is my new religion. Encompass the beauty of sound.
You could also check Jeff Buckley or Rufus Wainwright then click "more" on the right side sometimes there you find lyrics. Tina reminds me so much of Eva Cassidy, same bluesy talent. Bravo fra en Dansk fan i US.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION 1 (some meaning might have gotten lost in translation) The history tells that David once, pleased god with a rare song but music has never really interested you, right? it goes like this a fourth a fifth, a minor fall that ends blindly The defeated king is singing; Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah...
Dude, that's Tina Dickow you're talking about, I think there's a few people disagreeing with you! :) -She's a great singer! If you don't like this song, hear some of her other songs! ;)
I agree with Mr. Ebinger. This is the only version that I actually enjoy listening to now. Don't get me wrong, it's a beauitful song in English, but it has been over-played here in America. And hardly anyone here knows that there are more than 5 verses to this song. And the ones they leave out are the best ones to me. I just hope that you guys don't base your opinions of Americans on the asses who leave stupid comments on youtube. It makes us look like idiots, but I promise that we all aren't!
SwedishDragon, All of these verses were written by Cohen. He just didn't sing all of them on his original recording. In fact, he wrote many more verses that we've yet to hear. This version was originally assembled by John Cale. But these verses are all Leonard Cohen's.
