Tina is soooo right! I think we put limits on women and tell the world that the 40s mark "the end" of vitality, growth, beauty, talent, etc. But it's simply NOT TRUE! When we marveled at how great she looked in her 40s and 50s that's really based on our misconceived notions about what women should be and look like. She really made us think differently about what it means to get older. She helped us claim a different narrative for women. ☀☀☀

" It is me but it isn't..." Just like when Tina says in her concerts " Just having fun." Tina was no doubt born to do what she does. Singing is also acting. I totally get what she means. And she does a damn good job at it! Lol

Late June 1984, the day "What's Love?" went to #1, was also the same day that Tina found out that she was to co-star w/ Mel Gibson in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome...she's stated that that was one of the best days in her life.

That means, within a month or so, Tina was on her way to Australia, to portray Auntie Entity; because she finished shooting the film in late November 1984, 2 days before her 45th Birthday. The cast and crew surprised Tina with a cake, the day before she left the shoot, to go back home to America.

I’d like to think I’m in the 99th percentile of Tina STANs lol so I’ve memorized dates, times, logistics, etc. The summer/fall of 1984 was certainly the comeback but the summer/fall of 1985 she just was on top of the world - We Are the World, Live Aid, Private Dancer (4x Platinum, eventually 5x - US, 7x Platinum - Canada) Private Dancer Tour, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome + Soundtrack, several Grammys (including the arguable top prize - Record of The Year).

I love this interview, she sounds so down to earth. So real and so herself. Really inspiring that she never gave up hope. She had a goal and stayed the course. I loved hearing her talk about having patience and knowing deep down that her goals and dreams would cone true.

Exactly. I love Tina but she sounds so pretentious sometimes. Its like your woman from the country. Come on with that accent. I also was happy when she acknowledged her race.

Jabari Fikes. J. Fikes not everyone from the south speaks with a distinct accent. My family is from the south and we all sound different. I've seen many interviews where she mentions being black!

I think this is one of the best interviews of Tina ever!!! She opens up very naturally. Let's her in what makes her Tina. A very strong sense of introspective . Love you Tina!!!!!!!! And respect you and Admire you in every way!!!!!

Victor Gomes You are so right! This interview was so much more candid and liberated than most of hers. She sometimes considered the press to be investigatory. Tina is my #1 favorite artist and hearing about triumphs makes me work harder for my own artistic visions.

Notice she refers to herself in third person? I actually got from this interview that she sees "Tina" as her stage persona" and I always wonder if her close friends and husband call her Tina or Anna.💙

@gypsygirl9999 Her husband & friends called her Tina. And you're right. Tina even said she goes into the Tina character when she's on stage and performes. She said off stage she is the opposite Tina. But Erwin called her Tina in interviews and so didn't her assistant Rhoda.

She wasnt lying 11:58-12:13, that truly is how the reality is in America unfortunately. I love her. I also understand her reasons moving to Europe. I went to Spain for the first time and the culture and society is great. It's another world and a eye opening one. The people there definitely appreciate you there and it doesn't matter what your race is, thats so nice and I get that about Tina

Black People were hugely influential in the BIRTH of Rock & Roll. Racism caused THEM to be robbed of credit & to not be able to take advantage of opportunity of money & fame. Tina Turner DESERVED to be Queen of Rock & Roll!!! She ALWAYS belonged there. I LOVE this interview---she is so straightforward, honest, crazy intelligent, confident, wise, with such a strong sense of herself AND THAT UNIQUE SPEAKING VOICE. LOVE HER!

0:00-1:44... A little awkward lol. Tina came off as irritated and slightly bitchy. But I understand she was frustrated from being asked the same question..but the health question was a compliment. Till this day they still ask her how she stays in shape and looks so Young 😂
