Yes her mother was not trustworthy, was a covert narcissists, fake, and two faced. She faked like she cared her daughter got abused but she didn’t raise Tina. Tina said she knew she had to become hyper independent because her mother was emotionally neglectful even after the success Tina would send her money but she still was jealous. Her mother didn’t want to have her which was revealed to Tina through a psychic. Her mother still was bestfriends with ike to but these fans buy into the whole “ Tina mother told her she didn’t like ike”; her mother probably said that to save face to Tina and lied to her but she was a jealous witch mother.
Of course, the first voice we hear is our mother’s, we learn to speak and pronounce words from our mothers and fathers, and genetics plays a role too. ❤
Yeah, I thought Tina had affected a more put-on voice from living in Europe, but I see now that that's her real voice because her sister has it too (and it's very nice. They all speak beautifully!)
I liked Jennifer as the mom in whats love got to do with it..1st took notice of jennifer lewis during her playing the aunt on fresh prince.....the voice, the no-nonsense attitude...since then i have seen her guest on other shows prior...(a different world)..i have loved her in everything else since...years later she played the mother of toni childs on girlfriends....she was ttly hysterical....she has also appeared in many of t.perry's movies....an underrated talent...and so is lorreta devine...
Donna Jacsin Jenifer Lewis said she originally wanted to play the part of Tina but they told her she gonna play the mother ..Jenifer said " The Motha"?? But she took the part...if we really think about it..it's funny cuz Jenifer Lewis is only 1 year older than Angela Bassett and they had her playing Angela's mother..lol.But it worked out..cuz BOTH ladies did a great job! ☺
I remember an interview where Tina said that she did everything for her mother, bought her a home but her mom didn't love her. It was really really sad
Didn't Tina say that also in her HBO documentary "Tina." I don't get HBO but I'm sooo hoping it will come out on DVD... but supposedly Tina said her mother liked her fame, and the money, but not her. Yes, very said.
Sounds like Tina's Mom is a narcissist. Narcissistic Moms can be jealous of their daughters, constantly put down,etc..no matter what the daughter does...
I loved to see Tina perform. She is one of the best. I admire the way she got out of the situation with Ike it was hard for her but she made it. Came back bigger than ever. Blessings Always Ms. Turner.
@Will Rich It's not unusual for celebrities to publicize that they have insured certain famous body parts. They believe that it makes for great publicity and gives a certain mystique. The actress Betty Grable was the first to insure her legs and that was in the '40s. Mary Hart from "Entertainment Tonight" and other celebrities have done the same.
I hate when people say Tina talks different than she did in her younger years as if to say she sounds "white" but if you pay attention Tina and her sister and to some extent their mom kind of talk alike and have some of the same mannerisms. It's just like they have refined themselves as they got older but still remained true to self.
i remember reading in that Eddy Hampton biography bashing her that Tina once scolded Alline for the way she spoke. And Alline allegedly told her , "you talk so white now you done forgot that you're black!"
wendall absolutely true ! All three of them sound alike! All three have very beautiful speaking voices!! This is the very first i have every heard mother and sister speak in public.
how does whit sound? they still have that same country accent that I love. beyonce has if ,as well as myself. you can take us from the country but it remains with us. the voice, language, style and mannerism.
JONES2 I just made a comment saying fuxk the mother but saw this and couldn’t do anything but agree and ask myself why didn’t I include the dad your comment should be pinned it’s the realest one here from the looks
Her mom is trifling. I remember in a magazine Tina said she took her to her house in the south of France and she STILL didn't believe the house was hers or any of Tina's success.
What do you expect from a woman who leaves her children...and leaves the children with a man that is a abusive. But I guess if she were a fit mother, we probably wouldn’t have Tina.
Let's not be so quick to blame tina's mom. Tina's mother was still part of generations that were too close to the abuses of slavery and colonialism and the generational emotional spiritual and mental anguish that comes along with this.. this type of success could not be known to most blacks and was quite other worldy. if u couple that fact with any type of typical nagging or trifling mother who maybe in her own but still rather insuffcient way of loving tina, she will come across trifling or unfit. we see in the movie that tina's mom was in her life during her successes, but my goodness, she was still country and likely not super worldly. given the fact that she old old school country and the circumstances surrounding the neglect, we cannot expect tina to have come from an illustrious childhood with demonstrative parenting. with forgiveness in her heart tina made the best of the relationship with her mom. it doesn't seem that her mother was at her core a hateful person. just rather trifling, and this is forgivable. it's not like she had precious' mom.
@@ahh-2-ahh No Native American but Aboriginal American, there is a difference, besides Henry Louis Gates is caught on video contradicting himself about those fake and phony DNA test.
@@ahh-2-ahh I would have to look through several videos from years ago. It was with an interview with Henry Louis Gates. I will try and find it and share the link.
beautiful family of ladies ..their speaking voices are so refined...but you do sense all that energy behind Tina ....now RIP to Tina ...her smile was dazzling
Love Tina Turner! Tina has always been and still is one of my favorite female artist. I am always singing her songs. Bought her book "I Tina", read it several times. I will buy this one too! Watched the movie "What's Love Got to do with it" all the time. Just something about her life (then) I could relate to. A beautiful and strong women she is. Gold bless you Ms. Tina!!
I'm so Thankful that she met her Soulmate Erwin Bach she was Loved by him and died getting love and was happy. I won't cry for her I will celebrate her Life, Love, Tenacity, Bravery, Strength and Audacity to give Ike all she worked for just to be free from him, Terrific Tina was a Stellar now she is at peace and I will celebrate her Victory. Rest Well Terrific Tina you have done well and you are Simply The Best.😅😅😅😅
Alline you're always in my thoughts. I miss you. You were and always will be a true inspiration. You're strength and wisdom has helped me become the woman I am today. You mean the world to me. I miss you dearly. You'll always be a special part of my life. I love you Alline.
Justcallme Justice the movie is only loosely based on Tina's book. A lot of scenes were fabricated and a lot of info was left out. Tina had a baby at 18 by a member in Ike's band. Ike did not pay her mom. He took her in when her mom put her out. The rape scene and the cake scene never happened. When Ike and Tina moved to California, Tina's mom moved in his home in St Louis. Tina's sister took care of their kids while they were on the road. She also worked for them and lived in one of Ike's places.
I read the book as well, long before the movie came out. The movie is compressed, of course for time sake. Then the creative expression. But, most of these things did happen even if not necessarily as depicted in the movie. For instance, Ike did force Tina to eat cake. Though they were in a car together, not in a restaurant with company.
It means it is definitely narcissistic grabing and it means that the person (like TINA) should keep away from them, because this is incurable and such people destroy others. I know about it as I listen for months a psychology doctor who works with victims of such people and she explain it very carefully. I wish TINA knew about it earlier in her life - than it could safe her her suffering...
@@magorzatamargaret294 it was NOT narcissist anything. Please stop taking these words y’all made cliché, and then applied it to everyone and everything. If you know ANYTHiNG about the blk women in that time frame….they were treated like property, hit by their spouse and had better not let one household ball fall to the ground. Zelma stayed in physical altercations with Floyd Bullock, and when she had enough she packed to leave…but found out she was pregnant with Anna Mae. She resented that baby in the womb, cuz she had to stay….but ended up running off anyway. I didn’t understand why my own mama and I NEVER got along, until I learned she couldn’t give me what she herself didn’t possess. I learned my great grandma of South Carolina found out her husband was married to 3 women at the same time, and jailed for it. She up and moved to Maryland and left my grandma behind, taking the other 3. My grandma ran away at 13 and hitchhiked to Maryland to live with her mother. I learned that when I asked my aunts why none of them liked hugging their kids and saying “I love you”. My mom and aunts were harsh, but not on purpose…. My cousins and I vowed we would change the narrative. Let go of the word Narcissist. It doesn’t fit that time. Look at Tina. She ended up in the same type of volatile marriage, and she also abandoned her stepsons. History repeated.
My granny is full blooded Cherokee Indian..I love tina turner she minds her buisness..got her coins and went to live life!yesss srry she is dealing with stomach cancer😞Painful situation God give her strength🙏
WOW...Tina's mother and I have the same name...not common even in my intensive travels...Love you MUCH Tina...I pray our Heavenly Father Bless you with good health and happiness.
Alline I miss you! Last time we saw each other was at Ralph's Market in Studio City. Sorry we didnt get a chance to have lunch. ❤ Rest in Heavenly peace my friend.
Walter Bullock was my Grand father he was married to my Grandma Ida Mae Henderson Bullock. Both fron North Carolina black don't crack in the bullock family Facts.
@The High Priestess Walter was my grandad George was the the nephew. Walter was married to Ida Mae Henderson N. C. I was born in Henderson in the 60. My Mom was Ida Mae Bullock
Tina looks like her Mom beautiful family and history . Going to miss Tina forever God bless her beautiful soul . So sad still hard to get over losing such a exquisite lady .❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😘🌺
I absolutely love Tina Turner! Hearing her music today brings memories from my child hood. I grew up San Francisco CA but my great grandparents took us on several vacations all over the US. I remember visiting family in the South and not appreciating nature, and the smooth calmness of the South. But now im so grateful for those experiences. Watching this video took me back. Listening to her mother and sister talk about their home town. New Subscriber here..😊
Raymond Curry Zelma WAS beaten by Tina’s father, which is why she left. She had grown up in an abusive family too. That’s why it’s called a cycle of abuse.
Wow that's funny: my mom asked me that same question! Thank God I chose to be a registered nurse instead of a singer. (I'm the one in my family who didn't get a perfectly pitched singing voice.) living. Rest peacefully Mrs. Turner. Thank you for blessing the world with your voice, your class, your strength, and most of all-HOPE to people who feel like they have to stay even if it costs the ultimate price.
It's interesting what different ppl pick up on. From the comments, it seems a lot of ppl focused on the native American comment in this video. That didnt even register with me. I kept thinking how beautiful they were and how awesome that they all sound alike. Lol
blaque faerie That’s a prejudice that YOU have. In case you forgot, blacks were not told their history AT ALL until recently. The Caribbean was long called the West Indies. Many “West Indian” slaves were brought onto United States plantations. This led many blacks AND whites to mix this up with the Indians we now call “native Americans”. It isn’t always about self-hate. It’s about misinformation.
I t’s crazy how much Tina had loyalty to her when Ike could careless about her. I was hoping she would admit to having some type of PTSD but she went pass that and right into nam myoho renge kyo. With all the women that were around and scared of Ike all of them should’ve jumped his ass. She worked her ass off , submitted to a man that didn’t deserve her or the talent he had. It was so disgusting how he made excuses for hurting her. She lived in PURE hell with sooooo many witnesses around , and she never did drugs that’s the amazing part , I have no idea 💡 I would have dealt with that. She was disrespected to the core yet made a way for herself when she left Ike for good. It’s sad how Ike never gave her money 💴 but put her in debt smh. Her story about Phil Spector was dope who knew she was alone with him. That song Rolling in the deep is so underrated. I wish Tina would’ve stood up for herself more , so she wouldn’t have to endure such tragedy. She found her voice , her purpose , her strength and that’s better than anything. Wow 16 years of this bullsh*t !! It couldn’t be me ...... the negro forced her to do things that made her sick , the cold part is she still went back omg that pissed me off...... Then when her sons grew up they ran over their mother too smh Tina is so forgiving I give her than. If she would’ve left Ike sooner I do believe she could’ve been bigger , enjoyed her early years , and collaborate with the greats but she’s great in her own right too
She was a great HUMAN BEING and a great performer. And not taking alcohol and drugs in all this shitty hollywood is GREAT of the greatest !! AVE TO OUR QUEEN and thank you for everything !!
@@magorzatamargaret294 yes she was strong to not down spiral to drugs. That’s how strong men and women move. Your hard life shouldn’t make you do drugs. That’s why I hated that for Whitney Houston, I truly did.
She eventually did stand up for herself. How many can come out of that situation and still come out on top. How did coming out with her story revealed him and healing to her. Her story helped other women come out and succeed. Her story lead her to real love. She was satisfied towards the end if her life.
Was destined for greatness. The mother confirmed it. I myself have native american roots. Great grandmother was kyawa. Whatever. Propelled her. She felt it, nourished it and ran with it. She did what she do effortless. Rest in peace Queen. Your work is done on this side.
