I have to say, that is my favorite Tina look. And, at 44, she does look beautiful...her voice (and album) was GOLD in 1984...not that it isn't years later, though. The funny thing about this interview is, less than 3 weeks later, she'll be in NYC signing records at Tower Records in The Village, only to find out that, in less than 6 months, she'll be co-starring in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Let's all face it: 1984 was a great, grand year for Ms. Tina Turner. Thank you for uploading this, which I've never seen before.
And she continued to make hits for over 20 more years. I'm still searching for the video from back then when she proclaimed she had 7 to 10 good years left. I believe it was 20/20! She's an American Icon...
@@iantuition Yep. She shouted it to the crowd, and they cheered back. Then, later, back at the hotel, Roger Davies answers the phone, then says to Tina, "This is incredible. George Miller has just called. He's interested in you starring in the next Mad Max movie." The joke: Tina had just said to Roger, the day before, "Now that I have a hit album, I would LOVE to do another movie." That same night, riding on those great highs, Tina performed at The Ritz in NYC. To this day, she counts it as one of the happiest days in her life.
Tina did not hate black people or black men after Ike.. she is more than gracious with this guy and quite comfortable with him as well.. that doesn't mean she has to date a black guy! She definitely did not hate black people after Ike! I see many clips of her being so gracious. She simply just wanted to live her life in a different way this time around
She never looked right doing her routines without dancers. Like Janet Jackson. She did Proud Mary alone at the Diva show and it is better with dancers. I guess that why i didnt care for the BREAK EVERY RULE tour. She did bring back Lejune and Ann for the FA Affair tour.
I like the dancers, but I think in the last three tours the producers used the dancers too much, there are certain songs that only Tina on stage is enough, but on the last tour there was just too much, even on Addicted to Love!
@@miracabral cuz Tina was getting older. And she was smart enough from Wildest Dreams Live to start doing that Unplugged set.. so slow things down a bit where she didnt have to dance as much. She increased production which made the show even better to look at. Her 24/7 asymmetrical stage was the best thing i saw in years. At 60 she used that. Janet Jackson hardly has any real big production for her shows now.
I miss her so much, her beautiful tough sweet spirit , and if course her fire performances ! Still so sad 😢to see her leave this world , but no more pain.. rest in Love Lady Tuna Turner , we love you! ♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🎤🎤🎤💐💐💐
So interesting to see her demeanor at a backstage interview in a black city with a black interviewer. She's much icyer here than say, a white interviewer 6 months later in Europe. At this point, She's clearly done with black folks. She's not giving him one inch although he's treating her like royalty. She was so ready to be done with Black. Her Black fan base didn't leave her, she left her Black fan base.
Nonsense. Though she's not being icy here, I've seen her be very guarded with white interviewers. Plus one of her best interviews was for BET Lyrically Speaking, which I am sure you've seen. 🙄 The interviewer said it was the best interview of his life and he never felt so connected to an artist. His name is Kevin E Taylor and he's black. How did she turn her back on her black fan base exactly? Black people could still buy her records, go to her shows. There was no restrictions against any fan because they are black. I guess some of you take it personally that she married a white man and moved to Europe. Which is more of a you problem. Get over it.
