Tina was robbed of a #1 in this case,... three weeks at #2, late October early November 1986, behind Janet Jackson for a week and getting jumped over by a Cyndi Lauper classic. At least those #1's were classy ladies, instead of typical males 😉-- I think she could have slipped into #1 for one of those three weeks.

Great song and Tina almost had her second number one single .At the time Tina was leading in sales .Where Cyndi Lauper was leading in sales and airplay by 6% with True Colors.The single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 25, 1986, beating Tina Turner 's "Typical Male" to the top spot. It also peaked at number three in Australia and New Zealand, and number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. "True Colors" also became a standard in the gay community.
