It’s the middle of June, our Tench fishing this year has been almost non-existent, and we’re drastically running out of time to put some Tincas on the bank. As we all know, Tench become much more difficult to tempt after spawning; that’s not to say they can’t be caught, but for any real shot at a proper haul or a big fish, June begins to mark our last chance saloon.
With this in the back of our mind, we try our luck on a small estate pond that we fished for the first time in April, last year. On that occasion it appeared that the Tench had yet to awake from their winter slumbers and the day passed without a single indication of a fish.
This time around, we’re not sure what to expect, but on arrival, the tell tale Tench signs are obvious, and confidence is quickly restored.
