Every beautiful greeting starts with acknowledgement of a person you know and love. All Polynesians matter dearly as they are the messengers of "aloha" in the outrigger journey across the seas. If you have been cherished by islanders, you may have the gift of divine prophecy. I have learned about the real discernment of the character of visitors through my beloved Maori cultural family connection. Once you have been touched by a spiritual being, you are led to a higher path of emotional fulfillment.
Incredible. I have been a life-long fan of the wonderful Patea Maori Club, although I speak no Maori, I am all the way in the UK and have sadly never been to New Zealand. You guys are so talented and did their beautiful song justice. Love your voices and RnB arrangements. Beautiful, keep up the great work. Love live the Maori people and their gorgeous language and culture. 💛

ive been looking for this song for ages...i heard it somewhere once and went woooooowwww! have always loved the original but this modern version is even more beautiful, thank you for revitalising this waiata, it doesn't lose its essence, in fact it enhances it even more...nga mihi arohanui ki nga kai waiata ataahua katoa xoxo
The song was not written by Patea Maori Culture Club, it was sung by them. If you wish to advise people into researching the original version of this waiata, maybe yourself should research the origin of this waiata first..
I remember Nanny Ngoi fondly, I'm wondering if this moko even remembers her since she died many years ago. Cara a lovely singer too, should have had her on this video.
As uncle Karl Naden explained, this is Ngoi Pewhairangi’s Great Moko.. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔Wondering why she would have needed to have known her Kuia though as you have stated??? Interesting.
This song makes so much more sense now that my partners told me who Ngoingoi is.. Ka waiata rawe, kia mau ki tou Māoritanga, ko tauiwi tōku iwi, engari ko arohatanga ahau ki tērā waita!!!!
COOL FIRST COMMENT!! Kia Ora Whanau- Tino nui attaahua waiata. Nga Mihi nui. Im not Maori but love hearing and seeing more music in Te reo....Keep it coming- the world WILL love it!!
My sister loves this song she getz happy when she here's this song she's only 10 months like when ever wee go enywhere and she crying we just play this song he two favorite songs are why oh why and ngoingoi
Fifi Forget-Me-Not yes definitely agree. Even though I find some versions refreshing and modern, you can’t really go past the originals just for their simplicity and not deviating too much from the melody. The Patea Maori Club and Dalvanius shone a light on these iconic Maori songs.
The remake of this song was not to be better than the original. The song was redone as an ongoing tribute to Ngoi Pewhairangi involving future generations as both the language and the people continue to evolve…
Kia ora Melissa sorry for taking so long anei: Ko te puehu o tō tinana kua hora Ko ngā parirau o tō wairua kua roha Engari e kore te aroha e taka i taku manawa The remains of your body have returned to the earth The wings of your spirit has soared But my love for you remains
