A masterpiece of television. Rarely do tv series do great books justice, but this is a notable exception. It remains in my mind as good as anything I have ever seen on telly. Have just recorded series as BBC have it on over festive period and can't wait to watch it again.
My God! What a movie this is! Sir Alec Guinness was a master actor! I guess they all got that sheen post performing at the Ol Vic! Brilliant! 😇🙏i read the novel while in college in early 2002 but watched the movie years later!
Yes but unfortunately that generation of fine actors are passing away and the younger generation who don't have that experience of theatre work just cannot take their place. ( please don't say : Cumberbatch ! Or I'll scream ! )
@berserkerx7 Thanks for your comment! You could be right. I might take a second swag at this (without the watermark this time) and will keep your advice in mind.
The music is present in The Usual Suspects (1995), but since that came out 16 or so years later it presumably borrowed it from this - unless the musical score existed earlier.
If you want the music to this: It's from the movie soundtrack to the usual suspects film1995 Song is New York's Finest. If you find out how to download it, please share.
Does the TV series spend more time on the potential spies. I feel like the film was good but you barely got to know the suspects so lacked impact when the spy was revealed.
@@jasewildheart It’s a real slow burner but it gradually ratchets up the tension until you’re completely gripped. And yes, it spends much more time on the other characters, something the film didn’t have the time to do. It’s definitely worth seeing if you get the chance.

Nice attempt and editing but I think the tempo doesn't fit. The trailer makes it look it is a heist movie. It should be more sombre, sad even. Sarabande by Handel perhaps?
