Thanks for asking. I am doing mostly ok as of now, because I got used to the tinnitus in my ears. From my perspective after many years ( probably around 10 years by now ) of having this problem I would say that the best cure is to accept the sound and continue living on with your life. When i am working and doing the things I like I the sound doesn't really bother me that much. The tinnitus became a background friend for me. It had been hard in the beggining when I was so focused at my tinnitus that I get crazy mad especially at night, when there is silence and you can hear it more. My advice is to never focus on it too much, as it only makes you more worried and angry about it. I had also taken medicine pills of different kind but nothing seemed to work for me, so I gave up as I didn't want to risk any side effects from them. Beside that my doctor told me to do MRI test to check if it isn't something serious ( a tumor etc. ) and it turned out I am very healthy, so I stopped worrying about the tinnitus being a deadly disease and it really helped me to just shrug it off. I had some problems with sleeping without radio or some music in the background at first, but now, I can sleep without it and the tinnitus doesn't bother me at all. I personally have two different sounds in my ears: - humming like a wind ( in both ears) - High pitch ringing noise ( it sounds like it's only in my left ear, but I am not sure ) My advice in things to watch out for not to get your tinnitus more loud, or to not get it at all in the first place. ( if only I was so smart back then... xd) - Loud Concerts - Listening to loud music on the earphones ( I've got my tinnitus by listening to loud music on earphones for few hours. ) - Using ear oil to clean your ears - I have used it and after a while my tinnitus got louder or developed a new sound ( high pitched ringing noise ) but it could also be from the constant humming sound of the fans in my computer, as I work remotely from home and the PC is always near my ears. It is important to take care of our ears and avoid exposing them to loud noises if we can. I imagine it is more problematic when people work in loud enviroment - then only ear plugs or protective headgear might help.
