That is a very good idea. Quick little fix, I love it. When I topcoat, I use a small jar at first of whatever topcoat I'm using because my chalk paint does come up some. So I don't want to dip my brush into the topcoat until that first coat is down. Now though, thanks to this video, I will go ahead and just tint mine. That's a great idea. Thank you! Cheers, Ivy.
Does it dry truly matte as it does when it is paint alone? I feel like I may have made an error when I saw the matte tough coat and purchased bayberry paint while reading not for dark colors - this lead me to you! Your final product looked glossy so I wanted to ask!
Painting a kitchen counter white and wanted it to sparkle as well as shine. Using gloss tough coat, can you recommend a way to add sparkle so it is beautiful and isn't beautifully boring?
I think the cloudy over dark colors is a myth. If applied incorrectly - too thick or overworking - your mistakes (brush strokes, overworking paint, imperfections in the piece being painted, etc) will be much more visible with Tough Coat over dark colors than over lighter colors. Yes, the the paint is still curing and vaping water and other things as it dries, which you're covering with Tough Coat, but I think that's minor issues compared to applying too thick or overworking. I've applied over Midnight Blue and Coal Black with zero issues.
