TINY CUSTOM VAN CONVERSION | FULL TOUR!!! ( 2010 Ford Transit Connect ) 

This might be my favourite build series. It's so hard to find people who have done a REAL build in such a small vehicle! Real proof that it can be done and done properly.

To keep my gas cans on the roof rack from being stolen I useed a big sharpie marker and wrote "water only." I suppose grey water might work better but I never had anyone take them. I did have a gas station attendant in Amboy on route 66 when I was filling them tell me I shouldn't mix gas and water. Told her it was a hybrid.

I've looked at hundreds of van builds and I'll have to say for a smaller length van you've done a great job at maximizing space. Very well done.

My dad bought a transit connect for work and loves it. I travel a lot and have been thinking about getting a van myself. I asked my dad if he thought a twin mattress would fit in the back. He got super excited and want to help me build out this van because he said he needs a bigger one for work. I'm super pumped! Also my dad sent me pictures of this exact build two days ago. He met this guy! small world!!

I really really love this build, it’s very minimalistic and everything is useful. I don’t like when there is clutter, and most van builds have so much clutter.

I can see why people would want to hire you do do their builds. Really attractive and comfortable looking, as well as being very functional.

This is the best lay out we have been able to find!! Gutted you are not in the UK. We are literally sending your video to carpenters/joiners here in Scotland asking if they can do it. When we do it, we will be sure to mention that you were the inspiration for the build. Bloody brilliant layout!!

I love how this van is done out. Very tidy and compact. Love the big comfy bed and how it folds away.

Everyone thinks of the stereotypical dirty hippy when I talk about wanting a van to live in. Then I show them something like this and then they're jealous

About the light solution, you could still take the batteries out and power them via 5v (1.5v*3 = 4.5v, should be fine) if you wired them up in series. Could have the lights act as switches themselves as they are now or add in an additional switch to your panel

Really like the bed & lock box. I've watched lots of builds and nobody else thought to do either.

I dig this build! I prefer the smaller vans, I don’t want to live in one, just have it for long trips. Well done!

Great conversion job! I have a couple of safety tips. Remove the water jug and skateboards from the back doors when you drive, due to all loose objects will accelerate forward if you get into a frontal traffic accident with a potential of hitting you. Put a smoke-detector on the ceiling, and a gas-detector on the floor :)

Yess! I had an L shaped bed/sectional sketched out just like this and I had no idea if it would work in a Ford Transit, this is amazing thank you!

I have an idea for a comfortable sleep, I saw once on some other conversions they have elevated bed almost close to the roof and of they want to sleep the roof is removable you can raise it few feet above off course it comes with a canvas wall that appears when you raise the roof adding more living space down

To restore your headlights take some 1500 grit sandpaper and wet sand them until there is no more yellowish water coming from the sanding, then take some automotive clear coat and give them 2 coats 1 light one and then a full coverage one. let dry. if result comes out with a runny clear wet sand lightly with 1500 grit, then polish like you would car paint

The bits of polish and forethought on many aspects of your van is really well done. There's a difference between "tossing some shit in the back of a van" and what you've done. Great work, dude. I was surprised that there wasn't something more "hold it in place" where the peanut butter, etc was. Did I just miss that part? The detail and again, forethought you've put into the van is extraordinary. The bed stuff, especially that is gets established and reset so quickly really is a great idea. My favorite portion is the ceiling mounted tap lights - that's some brilliant planning, dude. Well done.

You've made a nice and cosy van out of this small vehicle, it's amazing that it doesn't look overfull with everything you've managed to put into it. Excellent job !

I was just watching the older video of the van before the rebuild. That set up was really good too but I saw how much mire you did with the insulating and woodwork. Is this new build heavier than old one and has it impacted gas mileage? You said in past video that you wanted space to walk through from rear do you think that could have been done to your old bed platforms? I am kind of modeling a build from your old setup the bed platforms I wanna be able to have them sectioned in quarters so I can have a pass through from rear to front. I love the fact you insulated whole thing . Custom rack on top is genius and have you slept up there yet? All in all awesome builds old and new thx for the inspiration

This is by far my favourite van conversion. Brilliant use of space. And great choice of vehicle. Some people use LWB Sprinters and other huuuuuge vans. But they arent practical every day, especially here in the uk at least. But a normal sized van like this is far better. Bravo.

quick "tankless gray water": just place a bottle or a little bucket or somthing under the car where the tube for the sink comes out, that way it doesn't drain right to the ground, or shorten the tube and place said bottle or bucket below it on the floor... ow, and I would just put another curtain behind the roller shades, 'cause from what I can see those roller shades would work really well as a movie screen for rainy days

Hey Josh thanks so much for this video! I have a 2012 Transit Connect so you’ve given me tons of ideas! ... especially the spit sink! Haha jk but super cool. I love your sun deck on top, great place to always keep the solar shower warm. Bummer about the gerry can thief; I keep mine in a big truck toolbox I’ve attached on the hitch. I made a privacy curtain for my mom’s rv. I bought a pair of sun blocking curtain panels from the second hand store. I shortened, hemmed and joined them in the middle. I reused the metal snap buttons from the previous curtain. I glued the buttons to the fabric with E-6000. So far they’re holding up great.

I wish I had the skills to convert my van the way I see a lot of people on here me and my fiance are just starting out with Van life

There is quite a bit of storage inside the rear doors. Mine was racked out or carrying food tins as liked to cook outside if I could. Made a cover to go over the rear doors when open to give a covered area. Just heavy duty cordura and magnets. Made nice job of the van.

Back van door + hoolahoop + shower curtain & rings + $15 water pump + hose + 5 gallon paint bucket = shower...or no pump, place on roof instead=shower! Lol

Great video(s). Thanks for including showing your stuff and where it all fits. Most van videos don't show that or show the brand new build, so seeing stuff crammed in was good to see. I have the same van 2010. It's been called The Cramper and many use external storage, you with a roof container, others with a tailgate and container, and I've seen someone with a ultra lightweight trailer to make up for the limited space. So I was curious what all went in your roof container. It all comes down to what you do and what you need to do it. I won't have skateboards, tool boxes, lights, or big video equipment, but no matter it will be a stretch for space for my stuff...my build will have a sink, room for fridge (starting with cooler) with roughly the same interior build as your. But I'll divide the pull out bed into two selections. And make the side cabinet full floor to ceiling storage without the desk space opting for a storable small folding table instead.

This is prob my 3rd or 4th time watching this vid..i am amazed at how nice n neat you built your van out..all that storage is fantastic esp for a small space..gives me hope for my minivan..currently..just flooring, rugs, foam bed on the floor at night some cheap dressers..someday I'll build it or get it built but right now I'm working on necessities like a new solar generator n panel..a fridge..and some minor van repairs..little at a time..its all i can do but I'm getting er done..lol. thanks for sharing!!✌💖😊

While driving down the road ,we had a 2 gal. plastic gas can fly out of a pickup box and hit our windshield. Fortunately it didnt come all of the way through the window.

It's a small van, but you fit everything you need in there - no space is wasted, but at the same time, your living area is surprisingly open. I can't be the first person to suggest you get a projector for your roller blind.

"Spit sink" is a good euphemism for your urinal.

15>50 I noticed the roof rack is sticking out a bit. U could insert a similiar system like the bed and when u pull it out, it goes over the doors and gives u on rainy warm days the possibility to have sort of a terrasse where u could sit in the back of the car covered by your 2 doors and the roof over your head so to speak. if u use clear plastic u could even see the sky.

Although I'll never use my 2010 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van for a full time living, I have started a project to create a full on conversion where I can roll in and lock in components which will allow me to use it for weekend getaways... ;) Complete with stove/refrigerator/sink unit and hideaway shower/compost toilet area.

One of the most functional (but still homely) van conversions I've seen - I love the practicality of everything you've done! I do have a question for you: I'm in the process of deciding which van would be most suitable for van life and so I was wondering, does it bother you not being able to fully stand up inside? I'm thinking of living in a van for at least a year, maybe more, therefore, being able to fully stand up inside is definitely appealing, so it feels more like a home and I can cook with ease etc. BUT is it over-rated? What do u reckon? :P
