Thanks Ricardo! I had put the project on hold due to 'the thing' but it's time to move forward. It's been a bigger investment in time and $$ than planned but I have a big vision for this and I'm determined to make it happen. Hope some will find it useful. Cheers!

Thx for the comments and for sharing memories. Prices seemed ok to me? I think he said 25 sqm/270 Sq F incl upstairs loft space = approx $50 Sq F / $520 Sq M / 16,000 Baht Sq M. Lucky to build even a basic home in the West for under $100 Sq F.. Also tough to get a mediocre condo build here for less than 45,000 baht Sq M. Absolutely LOVED Phangan! @@SideTripLife TRUE, TRUE, TRUE!!! But thankfully, my home in Hawaii (the Big Island) is still relatively small in population (The guess is, about 100,000-ish) compared to the size of the island. Which is a really good thing! But again, what you said, is still 100% TRUE!!! And Thailand, more specifically, southern Thailand, and Hawaii, are my 2 favorite places on earth! I LOVE them both! I might be interested in renting a long term lot from you and putting a tiny home on it. Ill be in the area in October and part of November to talk further if you are still thinking of doing this.

RJ, if you know a place on a beachfront in Thailand with tiny houses for sale including the land for 400K/$13,000 USD please reserve all they have avail for me lol. Seriously though, I think you 're saying one can build a basic home for similar or at least under 20k USD and find some similarly cheap land to build on. Sure, absolutely doable.

The largest global disruption since the smartphone is underway and many seem oblivious that EVERYTHING is going to change (and sooner than most think). Paid 800 actually (backside room, multi night discount as well). In 'normal' times same starts around 1400 apparently. Love being right in Fisherman's Village, easy to walk anywhere, all the cafes, plus lovely beach etc etc. ShaSa Resort looks fantastic too, perhaps better for those wanting a more quiet retreat down Laem Set way. Maybe next time. Cheers

Apparently that's what the customer chose. Can choose from a variety of materials. OSB is better than plywood at least as the wood strands are bonded by resins & panel then coated with laminate. Note another unit had gypsum board (sorry, not shown) and it appears also on the 1st one shown, plus some poly materials.

That land is amazing, what an idyllic backdrop. Unfortunately he said no land leases at his place but was in discussions with a neighbour to possibly do so. Also mentioned a few areas around the island with tiny homes.

Hi, thanks for your query. Definitely not recommending anyone buy anything. Best to check out all aspects thoroughly and in person before any consideration. Also usually recommend firstly renting a place for a few months to see if living here suits one's lifestyle. In this case, one would also have to look at leasing a land plot. He said his land is not available but some buyers had found other suitable plots at good prices (but this takes a lot of looking). Also, if not off-grid must look for a plot with services. Then there's visa's to consider. If over 50 a retirement visa, under 50 longer term visas are difficult, some do a 'study' visa but that's been tightened as well. The other options are form a Co Ltd and get a biz visa, also tightened, or an 'elite' visa, costly. So, as much as it perhaps looks like a potentially viable and cheap alternative lifestyle, lots to consider beforehand.

Yes and also asteroids (lol;) Joking obviously, suffice to say it 'may' survive a hurricane but either in many pieces or end up miles from original location. Ok joking aside, the commenter is likely aware there are indeed some tiny homes which are designed to withstand hurricanes.Google: 'hurricane proof tiny homes'. Unfortunately I doubt that these are that variety.

Sounds great! Part of the attraction to tiny homes is living a minimalist lifestyle, having a smaller footprint and ability to 'up sticks' (with your abode;). Anyways, each to their own, good to have options.

Doesn't come with but can buy a new 12000 BTU split a/c for 12,000 baht / $400 these days or a 9000 BTU one for less.

Well, there's yet another advantage of having a moveable home, not feeling secure in your location? Just move it! Actually the Gulf Of Thailand areas (East coast) are less likely to suffer a Tsunami. There is a subduction zone off the East Philippines coast but it's far less active than the one in the Java/Sundai trench. But really, at the end of the day one cannot live under a bed so to speak worrying about every possible scenario.... (or, just add inflatable rings around your tiny home, sorted;)

Nearest quake fault line to the East coast of Thailand is on the other side of the Philippines. One could also worry about asteroids (or dams in Laos etc etc ;) but at the end of the day best to live life

Don't think a Tsunami is very likely. Would be more worried about Typhoons. The thing is so light and tall, some serious wind hitting it just right could flip it over lol. Or it could run a tree branch right through your window. No where to hide. But easy to board up the whole thing in such a small space.

You don't have to be silly just because you are not smart. No tsunami on this side of Thailand.
