We're back 🥳 We've been busy with our full time jobs, which means we've been traveling all over the UK shooting weddings, so progress on the land as been slow...BUT it's been amazing as our day jobs allow us to build up our funds, ready for the next stage of the cabin build! We are so excited for all the progress to come once we've fitted our windows and when cladding arrives in the next two weeks, the cabin is really going to transform🥳
Just when I'm feeling at my lowest, some of my favourite people on the Internet swoop in to save the day! The tiny house is coming along great! Jon was brave for being up on the scaffolding in that wind aha Great work again Jon and Emilie, you guys truly are a blessing ❤
Maggie is sending you a biggest cwtch Josh! Glad we can bring some sunshine to your day 🥰 we've been away a lot this month with our day jobs, which has been good to help us build up our funds to order all the cladding for this build! So can't wait for it to be delivered 🤞🤞
It’s brilliant what you have both done to this place I enjoy when I see a new video coming on RU-vid to see what you guys are upto keep up the great content
Hi my favourite to people, I just love it when your videos come round again I get withdrawal symptoms when you are not on with your building I must say it’s coming on very well, And I do like your gardening 🧑🏻🌾 I don’t think you will go hungry, I look forward to seeing you both soon on your next video. You both take care of yourself and stay safe.🛠️🛠️⭐️⭐️👍👌❤️
Thanks Fred. Hoping the next few weeks will have alot of progress once our next materials and cladding arrives 🤞🎉 I think I'm going to be cooking courgettes in our breakfast, lunch and dinner 🤣🤣🤣 I can't wait for our first harvest!
Well done on getting the roof protected and the batons fixed. I sensed Jon's nervousness on the scaffolding but he really did a great job despite his self-confessed discomfort with working at height - I totally identify with this. The Velux window is a great job. There isn't a job that you both don't tackle head on and it is great to see your progress. Well done to you both.
Thanks Jim, i definitely don't enjoy being up high, it's made me appreciate other peoples houses as we drive around and made me really think at how wildly steep some roof pitches are and that the people who build them and maintain them must charge a higher rate for such dangerous pitches. Hope you're having a good weeekend.
I don't know if you know, but just a little bit of advice I learned from others, you need to cut the scapes just when they are starting to curl. Otherwise the scape will take energy from the bulb and make it smaller. Plus that's going to give you a wonderful mild garlic earlier than the bulbs. Makes a great pesto!
Emily your garden looks amazing with everything you’ve planted, you’re going to be cooking some delicious meals with the produce, and the build is coming together beautifully, tfs x Julie
As another gardener who doesn't use gloves, Emily, I call this my 'soap trick' for clean fingernails. Before gardening, run nails over a bar of soap- filling that crevice under each nail. After, wash hands as usual, clean out dirty nails and you'll be surprised how clean they look!
You guys really cheer me up on my bsd days and im so hspoy to see all your love and hard work paying off. Kiss Maggie for me and love from me and my 4 rescues xxxxx❤
Hi Jon, Emilie and Maggie, I always smile when I see you have posted a video. Your home us coming along nicely, and your garden ❤. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next. Hugs to all 🤗🤗🤗
Emilie (and Jon), I just love your greenhouse and the great use you've made of it! Your plants are thriving and I can tell by the excitement in your voice just what it means to you 😊💜 Great progress on the cabin too, you'll soon be in! 😀
That’s amazing getting so many luffa plants. Your garden is doing fantastic as is the tiny house. You’re going to be living in that house very soon. Can’t wait to see how you decide to decorate. 😊
Thanks Robyn. I've been buying little bits and pieces I've found in charity shops. There is a big homewear vintage warehouse in Wales I keep seeing on tiktok I want to go to, when we are ready to get stuff for the cabin. I'll have to film when we go!
@@CampOutWest bless you both! Hope your both well, congratulations on getting it watertight and all the veggies! I think you should get a second green house on the go 😉 xx
Have to say a big kudos to you both for taking on jobs that I wouldn’t even dream of doing myself like installing a velux window. Each episode you are getting closer and closer to the finish line. Looking forward to the next episode!!
Impressive to see you make it into such a professional build, also the garden coming along nicely, that's some real progress! Perhaps a good moment to build another bigger greenhouse and add some to your raised garden beds so that during spring summer and autumn you would be more self-sufficient?
We bought a 8m X 4m polytunnel in December in the Christmas sales, we are just waiting to get all our drainage done on the land (it's booked in for July now the land is dry enough) as where we want to put the polytunnel holds so much water, so once we've put our new French drains in across the land, our new polytunnel will go up! It's going to be such an amazing additional to the land and I think then this small green house/raised bed area will become our flower garden 🥰
@@CampOutWest Wow, exciting stuff! Btw, I'm sure you have noticed, many folks (including myself) follow YT channels because of the interesting, sympathetic creators. So your channel doesn't have to be exclusively about the house... but be sure to guard your privacy, YT is also a very hungry beast.
Nice to see another video on your progress, good job on the roof , and the plants are growing well ,it makes all the hard work worth it ,when you step back and see how far you have come .excellent. wishing you both well . Martin
you need to harvest the scapes as soon as possible because the scape will stop the Garlic getting bigger as its putting all its energy into the flower of the scape. Pick them blitz it up with a bit of oil and freeze them in spoonful's to use as garlic in cooking These have been on to long xx
So happy to see a video! Missed you guys! John…I admire your courage on the roof! Heights scare me to death but you seem so at ease up there. You may refer to it as a cabin but it looks like it is going to be an amazing house when you are done! Your garden looks great! You won’t have to be going to the shops for veggies for a long time. Seeing your garlic makes me want roasted. Just love it. Although it sure gives you bad breath.
I (Jon) don't like being on the roof at all 🤣 it's a little better now there are some counter battens on there that act like a ladder, when it was just the board i had very little grip so relied on the rope and harness and would freak out regularly and give myself cramp, lucky that the cabin is not massive is all i can say 🤣 It's definitely made me think that any of our future cabins i'd like to do a less steep pitch to make the roof process easier. So far we will be eating garlic flavoured courgettes, hopefully more options will survive so we can enjoy.
I was making brocolli korma while watching your last video, and copied the way you planted the ginger. Mine looks just like yours! I've never grown it before, so thanks for the idea! We're finally getting night temps in the 50s, so my tomatoes have moved outside. Your greenhouse is lovely, and the cabin is coming along beautifully!
Your videos always make me smile as I feel that things are really working out for you. Emily, your veg growing is miraculous, you certainly have green fingers, they all look so healthy. Can't wait to see the interior taking shape which looks like it wont be too long. May the weather stay fine for you, Wales really comes into it's own when the sun shines, we were lucky to have 2 weeks of sunny weather touring Wales a few years back and it was spectacularly beautiful. We had only ever seen it in the rain😂. Fond regards❤
@@CampOutWest Hi there, we just drove in our camper van wherever it took us from south to north and east to west, all over really but we did especially love the Gower Peninsula. Your roads are amazingly good, folk so friendly, the beaches are spectacular and pretty empty. Honestly it was the best holiday we've ever had.
Was very happy to see a video from you both come up in my feed and I am very pleased your full time job of photography is keeping you busy and what you have done so far is amazing. How is the laundry set up that you built doing. Are you still so happy with it as when you built it?
Thanks so much ☺️ the laundry build has just transformed the land for us. Especially in the summer, being able to wash everything when we need and hang it up on the line to dry is just amazing 🤩
So glad to be back 🥰 we have been away a lot of this month shooting weddings, which has been so nice, but glad to be back. The next two weeks will be really exciting for us, fitting all the windows and getting our black cladding for the building and roof delivered 🎉🥳
Congratulations you Guys Getting that roof on Specially with the Wind Springing up, which is Guaranteed as Soon as a Roll of Fabric is Stretched out 🥴😁
Doing well with the house and garden, great to see. Your courgettes/zucinis are getting end rot this is due to uneven watering. If they get dry they will rot.
I know, I was so sad when I saw the ends going yellow, I was hoping I could somehow save them ! We are away for 2-3 days at a time when we shoot weddings, so I'm not always here to keep on top of the watering. I need to look into a self watering/irrigation systems 🤞
Great work, you two....three. Just a word to the gardener. Keep a record, not quite a diary, so you know what you have planted, how many, and how they did. Then next year you know better what to do, and what not to do. Show the weather, rainfall, etc. Really does help. Anyway, great work.
Will you be transplanting your eggplants and zucchinis into a garden? I've never known anyone to grow them in pots when they're that big. You certainly are going to have a wonderful harvest.
First hobby I've found that really relaxes me 🥰 I also can't get over how exciting it is when a new plant starts growing/comes into flowers. I could do it for hours and it hours 🥰
your plants are yellowing from lack of nitrogen, soil is lacking nutrients(used up). get yourself some baby bio original its high in N for growing and some tomatorite for fruiting, dont go crazy with it, mixing it half strength should be ok.
🐌🐌🐌we've been working away a lot with our day jobs, shooting weddings this month, so glad to finally have some time back to focus back on the build. We are so excited for our next 2 weeks, fitting our windows and getting our cladding 😍🥳
Hello to you three from Australia 🌺 I am an expat living with my two dogs in sunny Queensland I have spent the last few weeks binge watching from the beginning. Oh my goodness how amazing you are. I have enjoyed watching the magical transformation on the land. Maggie is an absolute joy to watch Thankyou for reminding me how much I love Wales. I spent all my childhood holidays in Wales. Can’t wait for the next episode😊
Your progress is amazing! Great job on your garlic. Maggie is such a treasure. I am really impressed how far you both have come. Thank you, truly, for sharing your journey .
Hello Jon and Emilie, you two are making a lot of progress. I am sure you are feeling not as fast as you want but you two are doing a great job and this build is coming a long strong. You are doing your home work and doing it correctly. Your home will last for many wonderful years. Also it looks like Maggie enjoys helping out when she can. Another nice video, take your time and be safe.
Thanks Phil, they say measure twice cut once, we are more like measure ten times cut once, i'd make no money doing this as a day job as it takes me so long. 🤣
When you finally start having guests, you could keep a basket of loofahs for your guests to use if you save the plants for yourself and rhey produce a ton. Just cut the sponges into 5 centimeter pieces for individual useage.
Good crop of garlic. Small isnt always bad when its just two people. I also dehydrate ours and then crush it into powder and seal it into jars. Lasts a good while.
Hey Guys, great vid as always, really enjoy seeing your progress. With your garlic, if you harvest the scapes as soon as they form up, and leave the bulb a little longer, it will put the last of its growing energy into the bulds and help you get a bigger harvest 💚also if you pop those courgette plants outside in the beds (more than one of them), you won't need to hand pollinate them... Courgettes like a lot of space to grow and are quite hungry plants - they will give you a great harvest though. Happy Gardening 💚✌🌿
Thanks for all there tips 🥰 I will try that next time with the garlic scapes, thank you so much 💚 I've been taking them outside during the day and putting the pots near our comfrey plant, which the bees seems to love, hoping they will help pollinate. We do have a hole in the roof of our green house and I try and keep the door open in the day and I was so excited to see 3 honey bees buzzing around in there too 🥰
Just to say I've been trying to find one of your old videos about raised planters but can't find it. All your videos have basically the same title and thumbnail. I know your after clickbait titles but it might be worth changing them after a while to be more descriptive.
Thanks for the feedback. We keep our thumbnails generic to our project/channel as we never do just 1 thing in a video, it's always a mixture so it makes them hard to name 😅 so we just keep them generic. We don't do it for click bait but just for ease as we never know what to title them ☺️ here is the video you were looking for ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZKmH910x3QA.htmlsi=Vie71JccnVMeXpI7 ❤️
Here in Lombok, Indonesia, we eat the young loofahs. They make a pretty tasty stir fry veggie with garlic. You have to trim the pointy ridges first and just chop it up. It's kinda like okra.
Small thing but I wish the titles to your videos were more descriptive about what the actual video is about. I feel like all the videos have the same vague title with slightly different words and it makes it hard for me to keep track of what I have and haven't watched.
Hi Oscar, thanks for your comment. To be honest we never know what to know them as we do multiple things in all our videos we find it hard to title then , so we just keep them generic to our overall project theme. To find our latest/newest video if you click on our 'all videos' tab on our youtube profile it shows them in date order 🙂 and normally the videos you've watched will show a red line through the timeline which means you've watched it 🙂 hope that helps xx
