I have a few acres in Alaska. I would like to start a cabin rental/tiny house rentals on. Luckily the land I have has no restrictions or covenants so I can use it how I wish. At first I was thinking of doing just cabin rentals but if I do Tiny Houses on wheels that look like rustic cabins, then if there is a wild fire I can pull the tiny houses out. I am glad I found this video, I am going to contact the Escalade Tiny House Community Management and see if they will share some information with me on how they set up the spaces.
I live on weird Farmington, NM, just about an hour south of Durango. My husband baby works in Durango, so maybe investing in a tiny home. Thanks, lived here most of my 51 years and never stopped at Pinkerton hot spring. Doing that soon!
It's now 2022 you guys have worked on this for so long now and so hard and I am so proud of you because I've watched The Journey congratulations you guys deserve it you deserve a big pat on the back. Y'all did well very well. And I can't wait to move to Colorado. At one point it was a pipe dream but now the last five years I've been putting the steps in place. Because Colorado is where my final resting place will be that is and will be my Jerusalem. So thank you for going above and beyond on all the legalities it takes to get it done right. And safely. God bless. I wanted to come back to this video cuz it was older and write this comment here. Hopefully it'll pop into some more recommended feeds as well for you guys at least I hope so. God be with you guys always and God bless
Aww I saw that Rocky Mt Tiny House at the Jamboree in Austin, TX! My dream is to have my house made and meet it in Colorado for a relocation. :) I've been looking at the different Tiny House Villages there and friendly locations. Looking at Salida, Leadville, or Durango. Not sure which yet! You guys looked like you really enjoyed yourself this episode n_n
Hi L. I live in Pagosa Springs just down the road from Durango. We ruled out Leadville because it has a lot of mining pollution and Salida is super windy, very hot in summer and cold in winter. Durango is a great mountain town. tinylifeconsulting.com/
Tiny House Expedition Go on up to Ouray, Co. next visit it’s a GORGEOUS little mountain town named “The Swiss Alps of America” 😍🏔🏞🌄 Enjoy the Hot Springs while you’re there. Or the Ice caves during the Winter. But you guys might want to take the other route up through Telluride to get there, the road up from Durango is SUPER windy. And Telluride is also a beautiful mountain town you guys HAVE to experience 😉👍🏽 We live in Northern NM and visit Durango often! It’s one of favorite towns too 😊😍 #durango
I don't think it's "illegal" to live in a tiny house in the sense you're a hardened criminal or trying avoid high costs but a lot of places have building codes that are strict, and authorized people can come in for demos and ask the resident to leave and this is where people run into problems - Castle Doctrine - If someone's company was going to do that to YOU, I have a feeling you would do ANYTHING (Which you should IMO) to defend your home. Me too. But this is only to protect you from unsafe shelterage not to harass you or make you pay more.. If you can prove it's safe sometimes a blind eye may be turned by your city or county depending on who run it.. So it's very risky and you need to know your codes in your area and if you have several kids, then you need to go a bit less "tiny" and something bigger and more conducive to that situation.. Trust me a bunch of ying-yangs high on chocolate and sour candy is very chaotic in a trailer home much less a tiny home and it will *DRIVE YOU INSANE*. Space is key here.. less risk of playtime accidents and bordom. Plus some snowflakes will blow it out of proportion and say "you're keeping them in a box" or something equally as incriminating to your character - Y'all seem lyk good folk, and aside from all the cautions I just mentioned everything here is being done RIGHT.. I was just putting it out there for anyone who hasn't done their research and is thinking of propping up a "tiny house" just anywhere, cheap yes, but there's still rules to this thang homie :D
What are all of the cities on your short list? I'm asking because I will be graduating from University in about a year and I'm kind of confused about what city might be good for me to live and work in.
Totally get that; there are so many options! We love: Bend & Sisters, OR; Leadville, CO (new THOW community in town); Durango, CO (multiple TH parking options); Bellingham, WA; Corrales, NM (lots of other great places in NM: Taos, Aztec, Truth & Consequences); Ventura & Ojai, CA; greater Asheville, NC (lots of TH parking options). 👍👍 Happy hunting!
U-Haul is the generous truck sponsor for our documentary project. It tows are tiny home beautifully. For those not moving frequently, it's an affordable DIY tow option. 👍
Tiny House Expedition that’s awesome! I will be going tiny in the near future and look forward to your videos of the places you go to. I can’t wait to be able to move without packing and unpacking everything!
I can't figure out if in your quarantine episode you continue in Durango? At any rate even with a big house to live in being told to stay at home is really really really hard. So you are not that "weird! Everyone here me, my husband and my son are experiencing "cabin fever" along with everyone we might have been talking and laughing with in our "hood" before all this stay at home orders......guess now we can all understand that a pandemic is scary. We had the polio scare in the 50s. I visited Durango in retirement now and I loved the place. Don't live there tho.
