Nice music-!! What are the guest house mini split specs? SEER rating? Btuh? Voltage? And is that 30x40' shop building going to have a dirt floor, wood deck?, (maybe you mentioned that and I missed it?) Amazing progress you guys are always showing.!!
The mini split is 19 SEER 12,000BTU (heat and cool) 240 volt rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575579239&toolid=10001&campid=5338670092&customid=&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F163585819762 The shop area will be a 40x30 concrete slab and the garage part will be a dirt floor for now. It'll be built as 4 20x30 bays for a total size of 80x30.
I noticed or didn't see any roof vents or rafter end vents. Are they not needed down there? It's looking good and good idea on the genny running etc. Not good to leave things sitting for long times so good move on that.
The rationale for venting attics is to "flush" heat. The dominant heat transfer mechanism in an attic is radiation. Venting attics will not "flush" radiation. The air change in a perfectly built and vented attic results in an average air change rate of 3 to 6 ach. At this attic air change rate there is approximately a 2 to 3 percent reduction in heat transfer to the conditioned space through the vented attic as compared to an unvented attic insulated to the same level.
@@fullvegan Well goodness you have that down to one heck of a science. I was wondering because I have seen one that a person was doing in AZ and they bored 3 holes in each end of the gable area. So if you heat it and it is say 28 F which I believe is rare does that hold true also?..not being pickey Just curious as I have to build one North of you a little ways and the climate is the same.
@@Drifter5.7 Yeah, I was a little 'wet' last night :P I looked into venting or not a lot and decided to do it unvented because every study I found showed little or no benefit to venting. We did un-vented on the power building and it worked well so we're doing it again. Unfortunately with only one type of roof system we don't have anything to compare. So in the end, it's not much of a test.
@@lonestarwindmill9185 I've been going to get the ones from the guy in Monahans but they are 10' oak boards and would be really heavy for framing but might be nice for other things like doors and other fun projects :)
