To live in a small house you've a chance to have a Financial Freedom and to enjoy life. Than paying the huge mortgage for the house. Living in a tiny house at least you can save money and you can travel and to prepare for your retirement while you're still young.
I can see that Vicram is trying to be happy with his accommodation and sound convincing about how hunky dory things are out there. But this is absolutely outrageous. Prison cells are bigger than that, but for some reason someone once thought, that it would be ok to rent a broom closet for the amount of money greater than a salary in so many places even in Europe. The audacity, man. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of very spacious wasteful interiors and I cope perfectly well in my studio apartment, but I am just so appalled by greed taking the world over.
I must agree. If they gave prisoners something like that, the UN human rights council would be all over it. In Paris, you rent it out for 750 Euro. And then the government locks you away for Covid
It's getting that way everywhere. A starting point is New York...the same size space will cost double what he's paying and Internet ain't included in many of them.
I mean this is student accommodation, he has a view on the Eiffel tower and he is dead in the center of Paris where prices are crazy.... Plenty of cheaper options a few kilometers away, depends on your priorities.
Tht attitude is the only thing tht will save if their is any hope for our salvation in this cold greedy world we have found ourselves in. I enjoyed reading your comment. It gave me hope.
@@jojoco9840 Just having a place in paris doesn't mean much...wit time t view aint going to matter...bt yes he seems.chirpy about it..so good for him...
the story of him checking on his next door neighbor to make sure she was fine really warmed my heart. i just assumed immediately that she was just hanging out, so at first i didnt even understand why he ran over to her place but it's just nice to see that there is people out there who care about others..
At 73 years old, I can look back on the dozens of places I've lived and made work for me. One apartment had the bathtub in the kitchen and toilet in a closet. Another was a cabin with an outhouse, no running water and no electricity. When you are a positive person, like Vikram, you can find the good in anything. Living is an adventure and the more experiences and challenges you allow yourself, will only enrich your life. What great memories Vikram will have.
Renting a closet for 750€/month is not an adventure, it's a shame. Shame on those owners who take advantage of wirkers and students who just need a roof.
Boomers like you who romanticize and promote precarious and shameful living and working conditions are the reason the economy and opportunities for younger generations are so awful.
The price is outrageous especially when you know that if it was just a few centimeters less it would be illegal to rent. Actually checking with the max set price in 350 for that appartment size... So the owner is clearly ripping him of....
Exactly, I rented a 15m once in 2006 for 250 euros (7eme arrondissement/ bd des invalides), I looked at prices a month ago, and it hasn't change, and that is because there is a law that determines "when its inhuman" to rent", so small rooms like this is close to be inhuman. 8:41 another reason why it shouldnt cost more than 500 eu,
Living in this type of apartment gives you character and memories. I lived in one in NY years ago in a brownstone, the view of Manhattan was absolutely fantastic. I was young, single & having fun. You not there forever, you get better and bigger living conditions as you get older and get more money. But the memories of this apt will be priceless down the road.
Geez that's a tiny apartment. Landlord has a lot of nerve charging that much for basically a closet. But I have to say he has everything very organized!!
This is Paris, the studio seems to be in a good state, the building has an elevator, the location is very central (based on the view from the window) and all charges are included. Still not cheap, but somehow correct.
This is actually illegal to rent such tiny places. Plus as this is illegal, students are not allowed to receive any financial help from the French state (which may provide a certain amount to the student every month for paying the rent). So sadly the landlords often rent these places to foreign students / workers who are not aware of the laws
He’s done so well with such a small space! Having lived in a tiny studio myself you realise you don’t really need much to be happy. That and you don’t have to put up with roommates which is already heaven in my book! Also Paris 😍
Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, said, "you will have nothing and you will be happy." People are supposed to be naked and cheerful, completely at the mercy of corporations and servile governments. Depriving people of cash, introducing a universal digital currency, an account only in the central bank, surveillance of private purchases, preferences and personal lives, or creating a database of all information about each person - these are the next bold steps of globalists striving to rob and enslave humanity. Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, said, "you will have nothing and you will be happy." People are supposed to be naked and cheerful, completely at the mercy of corporations and servile governments. The World Economic Forum is the forge of globalism, which, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, entered the stage of the "Great Reset" threatening civilization and, consequently, aims to take away our property and freedom. The "New World Order" is born with the support of corrupt politicians, neo-communists, corrupt economists, bankers and all kinds of activists, among whom eco-terrorists are the leaders. Aggressive vegan advocates join them. The idea of the sharing economy, which promotes the idea of limiting private property, is gaining more and more popularity, so that we do not have anything of our own: a house, a car, a washing machine, clothes, etc. Political correctness is supposed to replace common sense. If we break away, they will destroy us in many ways. The World Economic Forum preaches a mission to make the world happy and this is only masking the plan to incapacitate humanity. The wealthy of this world are no longer satisfied with the money they are unable to consume. Now their egos are driven by a desire to rule the world. An example is Soros, Rockefeller, Trump or Gates. It is inspired by bloody war conflicts, where ordinary people are the cannon fodder and the rich get richer by earning coconuts on the production of armaments and increasing their influence.
A guy who loves plant, is so positive, cooks, cleans, care for others and to top it all find useful stuff on random streets..is sure is a keeper.. while I watched the video for apartment...ended up crushing on this guy
That view is such a dream!! He’s done a great job being efficient with the space he has. I love that he made room for so many plants! They bring such a great feeling to the space :)
Totally! I think it’s not about the size of the apartment it’s all about how well you utilise it and how intentional you are :) and yes the plants add so much!!
The fact that he is so happy and positive about his place, I love how personal and homely feeling this gives, so the thing is if you’re happy about the things that you have and you have a positive attitude towards yourself, you can have a feeling of satisfaction and happiness and that’s all a person needs. I love the way this man is showing the completeness of his personal private space. Also the view is worth living in this apartment, no complains❤
Man, Love it! I remember Vikram telling me his apartment is tiny, but did not expect it to be this tiny. However, as he believes in minimalism it might be the best choice for him. and the view is amazing!!!
You did a very nice job arranging your apt. I do agree, the window and view is terrific. Another plus is, you have a shower in your apt. You could be sharing a shower like many other apt such as this, but they were smart enough to give you that kind of privacy. Hope that school is going well for you.
@@robovac3557 I've lived in places that size that weren't cozy at all, but this one is. It's easy for small places to feel claustrophic if they're not well thought out.
i've lived in small apartments for almost 10 years with other 2 people (but not as tiny as his though, like 30m²) and the thing that helped me be ok with it was the view...i had a beautiful view of the city and it was in a great location too, it was in the centre of the city, so i had everything i wanted a walk away of distance, school, work, etc which was great honestly, while you are living in it you are just living in the moment, you learn how to be satistafied, but after almost a decade i was done with it, i needed space hahaha
This is a good deal compared to what you'd get in California at the same price point. Yes, the apartment is small, but it has everything you need, it's private, in Paris, and you have a view of the Eiffel tower. In Silicon Valley, you pay more than $750 to share a bedroom with a stranger, window faces an alleyway, bathroom/kitchen is shared with 6 other people. I'd take this apartment any day.
Let's be honest, for a student is decent enough. It's tiny, but you are there to study, not to have parties at your home. A student needs to attend classes, study in the library, eat, have a bed to sleep, and go out with school mates in weekends. That's it.
I really feel conflicted here guys. I feel outraged, sad, impressed by Vikram, and really upset. Positives first tho: I commend Vikram for keeping a positive attitude and for making the small space work. As a former scholarship student 10 yrs ago that also studied abroad and also lived in student accomodations, I know what burning desire for stepping out of your comfort zone feels like and what sacrifices it takes to be where you are today - hats off! Now the part I am really upset about: Do we really want such a steep class barrier to living? Student accomodation shouldn't be a luxury item (yes, I hear you: "But this is in the city centre! That is why it is so expensive!" Why exactly should we upkeep this classist division of urban spaces? What greater right does as investment banker have from a primary school teacher to live in the city centre? Bc he is richer, has a higher education than a teacher with an MA in Education and has the responsibility to educate and instill social values into generations of future citizens? Do we REALLY want that??) If I was a student today, I would not be able to afford 750€ on RENT ALONE. My students today CAN'T AFFORD that rent. Do we really want steep class barriers to studying? Isn't education, like, something everybody should have as easy as possible access to? Don't we want more highly skilled people in a world that needs expert opinions, more critical thinking and most of all - empathy? Is making due, adapting to these conditions counterproductive, a disservice in the long run for all the students coming to Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, and other cities?? I am not here to poop on VIkram's resilience - resilience is needed when we want to better outselves, but allowing landlords to DEMAND and ACTUALLY GET THE MONEY of a whole stipend's worth for RENT ALONE for a pico-micro-appartment is outrageous and needs pushback from us and the state needs pressure from us to control. Have a nice day everyone. Eat the rich. *(by rich I don't mean Vikram, I mean the landlord letting a shoebox for three-quarter of a THOUSAND Euros)
Its just supply and demand. Everyone wants to live in the city but there are only so many apartments available. So the price and the size of the apartments are affected. Landlords build smaller apartments to fit more people and the cost gets high because people are competing to get the spaces.
@@helsinki Supply and demand should not be used for rent and home. A home is not an consumable object, it's a life. A roof on your head. Millions of people actually don't WANT to work in Paris, they HAVE to. Because job is only there. I have worked in Paris for years, and have to manage with 3-4 hours of travel everyday, because I couldn't rent a flat in Paris, I had to live far. Some people try to live in Paris, and spend a big part of their salary for tiny apartments. But it's not a choice, it's a constraint. And a lot of owners take advantage of it, demanding huge (and often illegal) conditions to the tenants. Especially because the rarity of apartments in Paris is made of speculation. There are a lot of empty buildings in Paris, at least 1 million m2 empty. Those buildings are properties of big companies. This is the reality of property business. It should not even be a business. So, yes, eat the rich.
It’s really refreshing to see him positive and making the most out of his conditions, he’s a student but he still has a lot of ambition. He inspired me for sure
His efficiency is so inspiring . I feel like i should utilize my house more . Thank you sir , you are great . I actually got a lot of ideas on how to organize my house
Interesting video! And honestly the apartment is really nice for a 9m2. I live in France but not Paris. One thing I’d mention is really be careful picking stuff up off the street, especially in a big city like Paris. You could bring in bed bugs or other bugs/pests!
I honestly love this!! I think the amazing view makes up for it! Living in Paris, you probably spend most of your time outside anyway so there’s no need for large accommodations
The apartment is small but it's so cozy and he made it work for him. It's pretty amazing! I enjoyed the tour, love the windows and the view! Beautiful! I can see myself living in the apartment. Take care 😊
Lovely! Paris is so expensive- a great view and you don’t have to share. Reminds me of New York. Your life is outside, and your attitude defines you and your worldview. 👍✨
If you are my son, I am sad but very proud of you. Eiffel Tower is your view. Amazing. In Boston, after the graduation, students leave their stuff instead of moving, they leave them on the side walk. Free is free. You have a good future.
You are learning the valuable lesson that you need alot less than you think. We are living through globally high inflation right now. Being able to live in a smaller place, with less stuff and still be happy, that is priceless.
Dig this home ! It's minimalistic and pretty cosy. Might irk a lot of folks and seem unmanageable but you'd be surprised how quickly we can learn to adapt and enjoy in what we have 🙃
I've just moved into an apartment with 2 rooms and a bathroom, I promise I will never complain about not having enough space after watching this!! You have made the best of your tiny space!!
Absolutely Loved the video and amazed by the person. I have few things to say 1. 4:35 I see what you did there, "I have like a HUGE plant situation in my apartment" 2. Dude you knocked on the door and offered to talk to that girl is absolutely amazing. 3. The fact that you can find charger and the product around the street, just makes me want to immediately move to Paris. (Also, take note Apple) 4. The kind of positivity in this video and this guy really inspired me. 4. I immediately have a movie plot in my mind.
So many years ago when I was a student in Paris this friend of mine one day was thrilled to find in the street the perfect vacuum cleaner he was dreaming of for his tiny carpeted room. And another one found a modern black metal chair which he arranged with the perfect b/w cushion he bought especially for. Coming from poor countries, we were all so amazed that people threw these items away, they are rich so they renew constantly.
This guy made even such a small space cozy. I really liked this guy and his attitude to life 😁👍🏻 Probably this type of housing will not work here in Russia, here you need to additionally stock up on storage space for winter clothes, winter shoes and a warm blanket. It is also important for me where to dry clothes after the washing machine, we dry on the balcony.
Many are commenting about various aspects like the outrageous rent, space etc...But having lived like this young chap & being content is a very personal thing. I used to live in a small room in Bangalore just because it was pretty close to the workplace and pretty private for me to give me my solitude.
So many comments about how small this apartment is. We Indians spend an entire lifetime alongwith a family of 10 in such tiny apartments. Not shocked neither surprised. Proud of you Vikram
You do have a point. In my younder days I've stayed at some places in Roma that had a shared bathroom. At my age now I would not and dread the thought of ever having done it. Now I want a 5* hotel :) Loving a 125 m2 country house with huge gardens and a large city apartment - all by myself.
If I was at his position, I would get an apartment and share it with a housemate or share a room with 1 or 2 housemates depending on how big the room is. I already did this when I was at University. I would then spend my days working hard in the libraries/study rooms to get a job and spend the rest of the day in the gym to improve focus and wellbeing and clear my mind. The place shown in the above is not for everyone and as much as they keep saying it feels like a home, it honestly feels claustrophobic.
If I were in his place..i would share this 9m2 place with my friend 😂.. And spend the savings outside 😅.. I will just use it for cooking bathing sleeping that's it..
( born and raised in france ) I wish I had a place like this when I lived in Paris. The price is about what you could reasonably expect. You have a killer view and a rather comfy setup, in a nice district. The only painpoint would be the toilets, but frankly every student that I ever met in Paris had these. It's called " Chambre de bonne" / "maid's room" because we used to store maids in there.
I love his attitude. He just kept making me laugh. He has to be a wonderful friend running to the neighbors to make sure she isn’t planning on jumping. Lol.
I once lived in such a small space and I was very happy. Now, I live in a place ten times bigger, but I'm not as happy. I think it's much more important to be happy with yourself, no matter where you live.
Please make it illegal for landlords to put small spaces like this in rent for such ridiculous prices. Imagine expecting a whole monthly income for a place smaller than an average bathroom.
He is positive and doing the best he can. One day he will look back at his Paris days, living in a tiny apartment, with so much fondness. He just needs to update is bedding and maybe add some art to the walls.
I love views but I would never trade dignity and a minimum of comfort for a stunning view. The view is not going to repair my clothes that get damaged with vapor and smell of food cooked so close. It's nice to see that someone is so positive about this, and maybe this is better than other precarious living spaces but that's not a reason we should be celebrating this.
Having your own shower is a lot better then some of these micro apartments, which I feel like it’s more intimidating to share then a toilet. Also only sharing the toilet with one other apartment and the cleaning is part of your rent. That is way better then any of the New York apartments tours like this I’ve watched, where the entire floor shares the toilet!!!
I've watched videos of small NYC apartments and thought; "no way"; but this, yes, I could do this. I enjoyed his story about the girl on the roof. The rent doesn't seem so bad, considering that heat, power, and wi fi are included. And : from what I've heard; it gets real cold; in Paris; in the winter.
These tiny studios were once used as maids quarters in these grand buildings. My grandmother was a concierge and she had her own small apartment on the ground floor near the main ornate entrance. Then the next door was the service entrance where the maids and service people used. The apartment also came with a maids quarter apt. like this as a bonus. It was way bigger than this one and a full bed and armoire inside. The view was spectacular with the Eiffel Tower right in the center. It was also on top floor of this luxurious building with chimneys and slanted roofs. I will always remember the pink toile wallpaper and having only 1 bathroom to share with an entire floor of mostly vacant maids rooms.
What a charming, amusing, happy young chap. He seems pretty switched on & together to me. He’s got what he needs & is exactly where he wants to be, he’s certainly nobody’s fool. The price per month appears a bit steep, but he’s obviously more than ok with it.
Wether in Paris or any other part of Europe for that matter, homes are mostly compact and small. What with the city being so beautiful, people spend most of the daytime outdoors.
