@@PeterDad60 I would say that Leo Fender is much more relevant. Marshall started copying fenders. Also, Laneys, Peaveys, Voxes all drank from Fender fountain. They all have their own tone after decades, and I love models from all those brands, but It all started with Leo. People forgets the fact that Leo Fender was an amp builder before all (had a radio tech background). The guitar thing came later
Yes stop making them, don't make any more, never ever, don't reissue it, I have an original 2006 one made in Korea before they moved production to China, I will probably need a few bob to pay my gas bill in 20 years time when I am too old to work. BTW at £400 11 years ago could you not have made them in the UK and still made a good profit, there is next to nothing in them. Does my nut in that folk like Dyson, Vox, Celestion etc trading on their Britishness then making the stuff in China. Even Marshall make some stuff offshore now. Dyson are the worst they charge an arm and a leg for their hoovers and they still make them offshore, that's just pure greediness they don't need to make them abroad to cut costs. In fact I take it back, Apple are the worst out of the lot of them a £1000 cellphone with about 20 quids worth of parts in them, they could at least make them in the US and give folk there work, I mean how much more money as a % of profit do they make by making them in China? Even if it cost them 4 or 5 times as much to make them in the US, they would only be make £300 profit from each phone instead of £500, they know whatever they charge there is still going to be mugs who will buy them.
About to pull the trigger on a hand wired TT. Honestly, Orange discontinuing the TT is like Marshall discontinuing plexis. Such an important, groundbreaking amp - a true classic
im sure its being discontinued because its 1. going to be brought back later so people freak out over it. or 2. they are about to drop a new amp. 3. its up for re-design.
Cliff Cooper has the softest voice ever. I had to turn my sound system up when he was talking and then back down when it switched to someone else haha.
Just bought a tiny terror with a 1x12 cab in MINT shape. Thing sounds unreal!! Literally within a minute of playing I understood why everyone loves orange. So simple to use and amazing tones that I found really bring out the character of each guitar. Needless to say I’m a new fan!
Truly innovative at the time and still sounds great by today's standard. Nowadays, every major brand have a small amp of some sort in their product catalog.
I done this in a studio.. grabbed my tiny terror and a strat as I was late and in a hurry. Left all other gear at home. Plugged into a 4x12 marshall superlead cab. Cranked the hell out of it.... holly shit hands down best tone I have had in ages. Enjoyed the simplicity too. Cheers Ade. 🤘
He's so right about doing a show through a 4x12 and getting 'the tone of the night.' It happened almost every time I took this thing out-- And I was playing metal shows. Generally they were sticking a mic in front of it up but the sonic achievements of this little thing during those shows was staggering.
Hmmm... let's see: the THD Univalve was released in 2001, the THD Bivalve in 2002, the THD Flexi 50 in 2003, the Zvex Nano Head in 2003 and the Tiny Terror in 2006. As much as I truly love Orange amps, I don't like selective memory or falsely claiming idea copyrights (& these are just 4 examples of lunchbox amps right of the top of my head that preceded the Tiny Terror).
I was in love with mine through a 2x12 or 4x12 which added bottom end. The hot rodded el 84 sound and dynamics are unmatched. Had an original Korean version I bought of my buddy. I would still have it was it not for someone wanting it so badly he traded me for his JCM mkiv El34 2100 haha. Trade of a lifetime for me but I still wish I had my tt15
So what exactly constitutes a lunchbox amp now? The Valve Junior was released before the Tiny Terror, and the ZT Lunchbox was the first to coin the term as far as I know. Either way, the Tiny Terror is hardly the original by any stretch of the imagination. Unless you're modifying the rules to exclude the Valve Junior for some reason. I'm a fan of Orange Amps for sure, but I'm not sure how the claim holds up...
His there, I've got a few questions for Adrian if that's okay. Why has the OB 1 K 1000 watt bass head been discontinued so quickly? In fact a lot of your stuff gets discontinued which I don't understand cause if you're products are good and popular, then why not keep making them and just update them and tweak them like Ampeg or ash down. I would love to try the ob1 K as I've tried the ob1 500 which I really liked . But now, the 1000watt head you can't get for love or money. Second question: is the body on the OB basses solid under the scratchplate, can I play without it and is there any chance of a twin pickup version an OB3 version if you will. Would be nice to have a pickup near the bridge in addition to the neck. Maybe a second p pickup? Thank you Richard Oakes South Wales.
Dark Terrror with 12Ay7 V1 works out very well. Also I tried 2 5751s, V1 and V2 and this also tamed fizziness and buzz. The 3 100pf bright caps sure add a lot of bite. C4,C5 and C8. Probably could be 47pf is enough. Love this little amp.
Curious as to why they decided to axe the Tiny Terror and if it also means that they're going to axe the Dark Terror as well. I presume that since everyone else decided to follow their lead, the market is flooded and they don't want to fight for a piece of the niche market (especially since they're considered the gold standard). I've got a Dark Terror going through a Blackstar HTV-112 and I've always loved it. I even like it more than the 6505+ that I owned a few years back.
Hey guys I have a Number 3 of 215 limited edition 2009 in white cabinet. 2 12 inches a pair of Celestion G12 Vintage 30s in an open-back acoustically designed enclosure, made from 13 ply high density 18mm Baltic Birch ply to further enhance its tone. twin channel retains the original vintage sound and utilises a smooth electron emissions GZ34 valve rectifier. I haven’t found any of this amp on utube or anywhere. I’d like to now why and who the 215 amps where made for. Having Number 3 hidden away in a vault in a Guitar shop. Still in box and plastic. Hand wired. It just has this great sound Single or humbuckers. Become a fan love a head that can run low for night playing and cabinet. But on Army pension family gone so me guitars and my dog. I love my Fender amps but now another orange is going to be a savings goal. Love blues rock to some heavy. Plate in Black ontop says 2009 limited edition. Got to get an orange T-shirt XXL in Australia. Bummer going to miss out on the tiny terror as want to get heads and a good cabinet. I just never see my limited edition. Like to see specs.
I googled your 2009 limited edition and yes they made some in white but nothing different apart from the white tolex covering. They look cool in white though. Which model amp is yours? Rockerverb 100 or Rocker 30 or?
