That's pretty impressive, I love the curved sword sparks you get from that coil size! Looks almost like a mini QCW! Speaking of such designs, have you considered building a ramped power supply to try driving your coils in QCW?

That little bugger produces impressive sparks. Nicely done. For me it was always easier to design SSTC in single or push-pull configuration. Whenever I tried using half-bridge or H-bridge, my drivers got hot, even-though I've used the drivers with included dead-time circuit. Now there's only one thing to do: replicate your design, because there is no such thing as too many Tesla coils.

Thanks for all your videos on Tesla Coils. Im only a novice at this and tried to make a couple, but failure stopped me several times, But then I bought one of these little StunGun/Flashlight to try it once again.... WOW!!!! Success... Had sparks one inch long, but very thin and difficult to see. I am building a SSTC and taking my time trying to make it look pretty.. Thanks to you and LabCoatz for all you guys work

I love your channel, I've had it for quite some time. a classic tesla coil that makes sparks of a meter and a half. But I want to start making one that makes music. 6 months ago I knew absolutely nothing about solid state tesla coils and now thanks to watching your videos I am making one with a full bridge and that sparks more than half a meter.

@@Teslaundmehr sry for hijacking but I've got to ask where do u get ur genuine parts from, I'd guess Mouser ? I'm running out of genuine fets, tho I've been preserving the last, of the few I started with, quite well, and I was wondering, since u appear to have a hefty reserve, could u send me ~12 dozen IRFP260N or similar and ~4 fet drivers, ofc I'd pay u back, I'm in the EU, Croatia... the prices are high for the amount I'd be ordering. Thanx in advance

Don't see a lot of people successfully doing class E SSTCs, that's really cool! That's something I definitely want to try myself. I'm curious, could you run this as a base-fed HFSSTC, like you've shown in your other HFSSTC videos, or is the resonant frequency of this one too low for those circuits to work effectively? If it would work that way, I wonder how different the output would look.

I just built this circuit up and it performs quite well. I used very similar component values for my circuit except that the secondary runs at 1.8mhz. Normally the coil produces 3.5in sparks but when I touch the antenna it produces 5.5in sparks? Also my input is only around 60v.

@quantumlab9130
@quantumlab9130 2 года назад
It is quite good, not perfect yet though, I still have to figure out how to get those longer arcs without having to touch the antenna. Just curious do you know why the spark length increases when I touch the antenna?
@Teslaundmehr
@Teslaundmehr 2 года назад
@@quantumlab9130 yes, because your body is like a big antenna, when you Touch the antenna, the coil get more in resonance. So you a bigger Antenna, and better tuning ;)
@quantumlab9130
@quantumlab9130 2 года назад
Thank you, that’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure. Clearly more tuning is required.
@quantumlab9130
@quantumlab9130 2 года назад
Probably the last update. My cool now produces almost 17cm arcs. I found that literally everything effects the tuning of this coil. I found even the position and length of the antenna effects the circuit. Also I replaced the 330nf coupling capacitor with a 15nf one and it works much better. Also instead of using a one turn primary coil like you did I used a 4 turn primary which decreased input current and increased spark length. Also using a staccato controller increases spark length and makes the arcs straight and quiet. Also instead of a 74hc14 Schmitt trigger I used a cd40106be which can run up to 16v so I don’t need to use a voltage regulator to lower it to 5v.
