Hahaha totally agree with you there, but the one I painted here didn't even end up on the final miniature, so technically it was a little unnecessary! Still included it in the end though, so maybe you're right lol!
trying to remake something smaller and having it be the same size is too real 😭😭 loved the little fountain!! fountains are always my favorite miniature elements.
Yeahhhhh it happens all the time lol, I look away from the other one for one second and suddenly I've done the same thing twice! So glad you could enjoy it, wish you luck with all your future making of things to scale haha!
I just watched studson studio's build on howl's moving castle and i was thinking "what if someone were to build atla's upside down air temple" and as I scrolled through his comment section i came across your channel and the exact build i was thinking of :0. I just wanna say your build is really impressive. I love all the details you put into the temple and cliff and little sculptures. i literally just came here lol but i'm really inspired to work on a miniature version of the frog's house in travelling frog(game) or maybe Arrietty's little house under the floorboards :D
Hahaha I honestly can't believe you could say this was impressive after watching Studson's build, that's on another level! Appreciate it so so much though, glad to know a little bit of serendipity was working in our favor! Super cool projects, hope you get to do one (or both) of them in the future! I did a tiny piece of Arrietty's bedroom a bit ago- that whole house is just so beautiful~
Ok but everything about this is incredible but the TINY BABY APPA is the best I love it. Incredible use of materials I'd never have thought of too! The yarn was a wild and intense choice but it worked out so well!!!
Well if there's one thing we're doing here, it's definitely making questionable material decisions haha! Having super limited options for material pretty much always yields some creative solutions! Really glad you could enjoy~
I don’t know what to praise to you for Devon… your patience, your creativity, your crafting skills, editing skills, all the entertainment you bring into your videos or the way you make making these miniatures look so easy to make🤷🏻♀️….?!
Ahhh thank you again, you are always the sweetest, I never know just how to show all my gratitude either! The actual construction wasn't all that difficult for this one, but definitely hit a bit of a mental block this time around haha. Glad it's finished now though!
Once again coming trough with the tastes, the crafting AND editing skills!!! That was literally so cool and beautful I'm in love~ I must say Avatar Tlab is one of the most inspiring and breathtaking series I've seen in my life! But also one of my biggest disapointment since the moment I discovered in my childhood that there actually was no books even though the series is organised with books... My book-thirsty 9 years old was cryyyiiiiing :)
Haha well technically there are some related books now! Comics from after the series and I think there are a few actual books too. Either way, the show tells the story so well that part of me doesn't want it to be in any other format (we saw what they did to the movie lol). Thank you as always for all the nice words, so happy you could enjoy everything~
that was fun, thanks:) if you use silicone parchment paper in a laser printer, you can make a little transfer image that you just press on the carving clay, for perfect details
You know I actually tried that in a different project and for super tiny details, it was incredibly hard for me to get it to work. Perhaps I was doing something wrong, maybe I'll have to try again in the future! Appreciate the tip very much though, thank you~
@@MechanicalFiend something tacky on the surface, i used chapstick for speed, but look uip alastairs duncans method for hard wearing method. yours look good either way.
This is great. A great tip I have learned is, when using sand/dirt, if you spray it with isopropyl alchohol and then use a dropper to drip diluted glue over it, it really sets everything without clumping up the sand.
Ooooo that's actually a really cool idea, I was trying to think of other projects that could potentially be hung. Perhaps in the future! Thank you so much for the suggestion~
This build is probably my favourite so far. You are gifted, even though you doubt yourself, it is often that doubt that drives you on to greater things. Awesome build, thank you.
I think doubt is unavoidable, which is fine as long as you continue going despite it. That's how you grow! Thank you again my friend, so happy you liked this one, definitely a special project for me.
Ahhh well thank you so much! The actual creation of the video as a whole is absolutely my favorite part, so adding in small extra parts where I get to be creative and film some fun sequences is the best! Really glad you could enjoy~
Huh, if that is true, that is so lovely! Though I don't know much about Bhutan, all that I have seen of it in videos was very beautiful! Thank you so much as always, glad you liked them~
Wow what a great job you did. What a smart idea using the string for the roofing tile. It looks so good. I enjoyed watching you build the Western Air Bender Temple.
This is by far the most underrated channel on RU-vid… come on Internet - let’s get this awesome artist out there!! Your channel is so wholesome and your presenting style is just cool 😎 Thanks for the great art and brilliant videos!
I LOVED the intro! Super great video, A++! Right now I’m working on a crazy wizard tower that’s about 3 foot tall, that looks like a giant dragon took a bite out of it, with a huge chunk of the shingles and bricks ripped off, with only the wooden “structure” inside showing. I’ve used a lot of your crafting tips for some of my projects, especially your aluminum foil rocks! This is actually my first non-themed build, just something out of my imagination. I’m also working on the flying howls moving castle from the end of howls moving castle ( I already made the big main one) but it’s pretty hard, considering that there are LITERALLY only two shots of it from the move, a side view and a top view of the back half. So, 🤞I can make up the rest of it. Thanks so much for inspiring me, you and all the other crafters on RU-vid have taught me a lot of good crafting skills, and I’ve gotten a lot better. Thank you so much!
That sounds so insanely cool, oh my goodness! Really hope all your projects are going well, they sound like pretty big undertakings haha, props to you! If you want to share them when you're done, I would love to see them so much! Yeahhhh it's always super difficult when there's only a few references, but that also allows you to be a little more creative. Love the little garden addition on the flying version! Anyway just thank you so so much for all the super nice words, seriously that's all way too nice. Really happy to hear the videos could help in any way and wish you luck you with the crafting~
@@MechanicalFiend thanks so much! I would love to send you some pics as soon as they’re done! The howls castle may take a bit though, the main big one I made took over a month
Your models look so cool, you can tell a lot of hard work goes into them and that you care so much about what you're doing. The Western Air Temple is the best because it looks awesome.
The best thing you can do for yourself in crafting is to pick projects that you're super passionate about! Really happy you could enjoy it, thank you so much for all the super nice words~
All wonderful choices! You kinda can't go wrong with picking favorites with Avatar haha! And you are far too kind oh my goodness, so happy you could enjoy it~
Absolutely stunning ! When you did the shots of finish project I thought that's the edited version of scenes from the ATLA and I was in shock how real and beautiful your temples look like. It's unreal how real they are.
Ahhhh oh my goodness that is the biggest compliment, thank you so much! Don't think I could ever quite live up to the actual show, but really appreciate you saying that- those shots are always my favorite to shoot~
I've really started to think I should have put some warning that was coming up haha, apologies! Thank you so much, seriously, it makes me the happiest to hear you can enjoy everything~
You were just randomly shown in my feed, and I'm glad I clicked on it. While I have no idea on anything Avatar, I will say that the diorama you made is very good. I look forward to more crafts from you.
So happy you found yourself here my friend, thank you so much! It's honestly always the best thing to hear that you could enjoy regardless of knowing about the source material. Thank you for all the kind words~
Your work is sooo inspiring. I have a small kid and i really hope to teach him about reusing and repurposing old toys or other recycable materials with projects like that. Keep up the amazing work! Oh, and maybe you could use thin wires to place Appa in a more dynamic pose and cover it with hot glue so it looks like "air streams",like a flying effect! Just an idea. Again, you are AMAZING!
That is so awesome to hear, really hope he gets to grow up making stuff! A cool idea, could have totally done something with a flying effect... though actually thinking about it, Appa doesn't fly super dynamically in the show lol. Regardless, thank you for the idea and so happy you could enjoy~
All I've got is an excess of love and enthusiasm, so we gotta cram it in as much as possible haha! Seriously, appreciate you saying that so much, thank you~
Enjoyed this very much. The animated series is visually captivating. Going back from the start, when Aang is emerging from the ice with the glowing blues, would be something to see in a recreation. I knew at the time when I watched Avatar: tLAB it was going to be a great show. I've been a fan of anime, and animation in general, for a long time. I'm just an old kid at heart.
Oooo that would be a fun project, definitely some cool lighting options for that! Totally! I grew up watching the show, but it's one of the only series I still go back and watch to this day enjoying just as much as when it first came out. Such an incredibly done show!
@@MechanicalFiendthe design is undeniably amazing and I’ve never imagined a world with the western air temple in it but u just that possible. Thanks 🙏🏾
I do my best to stay as accessible as possible! Also because I can't afford expensive materials either haha, but you can do so much with very little! Thank you for all the kind words~
Nice Skyrim Map ! Last time I was in Skyrim I could not find a Spear. Last time I was in Cyrodiil I could not find a spear. Pray for Spears please lol. You make some good stuff on this channel.
The Skyrim map is such a perfect prop for making things look old haha! Hoping for all the spears for you and so glad you could enjoy, thank you so much~
I swear I wanted to sit there for days and just lay in all the references, but I had to stop myself or this video never would have been done haha! Super happy you could enjoy it, thank you~
If I could sustain making the stuff I am now and also having an exclusive Avatar crafting channel, I totally would ahhh! As it is, I struggle putting out videos in a timely manner already so... I wish haha! Not sure if I'll do the robot, tbh I love robots, but probably not the thing I would be drawn to make in miniature. Appreciate the suggestion a lot though~
Ahh well more in that it takes a while to actually prepare certain things, filming additional content, editing, learning how to use discord lol, etc. Thank you so much for the kind words, glad you liked the result~
Oh my goodness you are too kind, thank you so much! Appreciate it all so much! Don't know how to do things any other way than in my own style, so definitely don't think that's changing any time soon haha~
Haha really glad to hear that! I've honestly been really unsure about this one because I keep feeling like I didn't put enough detail into it, so thank you so much for saying that~
@@MechanicalFiend you put freaking dirt on your projects. Honestly saying it that way makes it sound bad. But it’s fantastic it adds so much depth and it’s a lovely touch of realism. Also I love that you were like “there’s a tree here” and just molded one out of clay. I’m so lazy with details like that. I’m obsessed with miniatures and avatar so this video was absolutely perfect for me to watch. Thank you!
Came over from Studson Studio (the Castle in the Sky vid); this looks so cool!! I can only imagine how long it took, but, to me at least, it seems worth it. So cool that the first video of yours I watched is an ATLA one, as I'm also a huge fan! :D
Ahhh the best route of discovery haha, well really appreciate you giving it a watch, thank you! So happy you could enjoy, always glad to meet fellow ATLA fans~
You are SO FREAKING TALENTED!!!!!! Your pieces/videos inspire me & also make me feel like I still have a long way to go & so much more to learn. Looking forward to the next project/video whether it's small & simple or huge & complicated...
Ahh well you're very kind, thank you! I honestly feel that way too haha, always so much to learn, but that's the exciting part! Wish you luck with all of your future projects~
My favorite character is Zuko. Not because I am not a huge fan of Iroh, but because I can relate to Zuko's Arch a lot. And I would probably be a waterbender. Cause Ice and Steam and Snow and Blood and water is just my spiritual element, also I drink a lot of it :3
Zuko totally has one of the best character arcs in a story I've ever seen, so well done! Water is a super cool element, has so many interesting branches of it for sure. Love the healing aspect to it, a great choice!
You remind me of Nerdforge, really enjoying your content. As for fav character, Sokka quirky weird & grows to be a bad ass towards the end (that goes for everyone in the show).
Ahh well that is quite a large compliment, love their work so much! Oh absolutely, Sokka going from being kinda undervalued to a massive hero at the end was so rewarding to see! A wonderful choice~
Hahaha glad to hear you liked the result! It's a really fun piece, I always find myself looking at it because it's right above my computer! Thank you for the kind words~
Oh totally, woodland scenics has a ton of really cool stuff! Unfortunately, not at the point where I can afford stuff like that haha, but perhaps in the future~
This is so good!! And I loved your Aunt Josephine's House from a Series of Unfortunate Events as well! Would you consider making the Pink Palace from Coraline? I think that would be epic!!!
You know the Pink Palace has been requested more than anything else for some reason lol, apparently a lot of people want to see it! I will consider it, we'll see! Either way, thank you very much for all the kind words~
I love your work! I only just discovered you but I can tell that Ill be here for the long haul watching you, but I will say, it might make your life easier putting more work into the planning stage, it really is a life saver, like for example if you painted the roofs then painted the yarn and then assembled it probably would have taken easily half the time to make the roofs, but overall I love your content and keep the miniatures coming!
That was a great project (and video)! P.S. ngl I had a vision of Fred Astaire dancing in Royal Wedding (you know, the famous dance on the roof) as a tiny sculpture or miniature for the underside of the shelf. Sadly I have no floating shelf to do that idea with, so I guess I need to make a whole room :).
Thank you, always so happy to hear you can enjoy! That would honestly be amazing, hope you get to do that project at some point, I would love to see it~
ok so. i just found your channel tonight. and i have watched an ungodly amount of your videos. let me describe the vibes i have; its the first cold night of the fall here and i am in a blanket, this is hella calming, i get the same happy energy and tactile pleasure as i do from watching mister rogers, and i wish to be this good one day. thanks for making my night so awesome lol (ik you probably wont see this but
This is honestly making my heart explode, that's one of the best ways anyone has ever described something that I made! A cold night in fall with a cozy blanket is literally my happy place, so happy to hear that haha! Thank you my friend in return, for making my night awesome as well. Can't say just how glad I am that you could enjoy like that~
@@MechanicalFiend HOLY CRAP I DIDNT THINK THAT YOU WOULD SEE THAT. ahhh :)))))))) i dont know what to say. this made my day! (also i showed my mom some bc she loves studio ghibli and she absolutely loves it)
This was fun! I loved watching Avatar with my daughter when she was eleven or twelve and beginning her munchkin edgelord stage, because she would start yelling at the screen whenever anything romantic happened. Unless it was Zuko and Mai, because she had to respect her fellow edgelord.
Hi! I haven't seen your channel before, but that was a really cool build. You even managed to keep my husband entertained while you were explaining all the details. Great job with the video editing as well! With how much you love Avatar, I hope your watching the Overanalyzing Avatar channel.
Ahhh well so happy to have you here! Really glad you both could enjoy it and appreciate all of the kind words so much! You know oddly I don't tend to watch any sort of commentary channels about things I like, I think I just like to watch the original content myself haha! Crafts though, that's another story~
Awesome video! New subscriber here, but the commentary, editing, the intro, and, oh yeah, the craft! :) All of it is so great. I just sculpted a miniature Appa and made a Last Airbender book nook on my own channel this week, too! So I know exactly what you mean when you say you could make a whole craft channel just based on this show. Excited to see what you're working on next!
Ahhhh my friend, you are too kind, thank you! So happy you could enjoy everything, this was such a fun video to work on all around! That's so cool, I'll have to do my best to check out your video, always love seeing Avatar crafts. Appreciate it all so much again, thank you~
This is incredible!! Such an awesome process to watch! I loved every second of it!! Except for "Brave Soldier Boy". I don't know why you had to rip my heart out like that. The "Secret Tunnel" interlude kind of made up for it though..........Kind of. Lol My favorite character is mah angsty boi Zuko, I'd probably be a fire bender or a water bender, and my favorite episode is either the Blood-Bending Halloween episode or the episode where Zuko reunites with Iroh just for that one scene lol
That's a great one! Love the theme of that episode, feel like it only becomes more and more relevant unfortunately. Honestly I tend to particularly love all the episodes with the spirit world in them, some super interesting ideas! And thank you for the kind words~
