Joel Reyes its safe to say any salsa and hustle can be exchanged footwork wise as all youd adapt is the & 1 counts for QQ. There are a few exceptions but there are only so many ways the body can move with the prescribed timing.
Joel Reyes with that being said, there is the "character of the dance" concept. some purists prefer only moves that feel proper for the dance. same with music and dance pairings. lots of people dance WC to cha cha or country shuffle / triple 2 as tempi work but the latin or country feel throws many off. So others would say leave swing to swing, country to country, latin to latin and so forth. ofcourse there are ways to style patterns to adopt the appropriate look. look at two step in the competition world. arm catches and such are from samba yet now are a staple and are used in rails and weave patters. so theres that too.
