You share some great tips for beginners, i messes up so many shirts thinking it would be fine!! WRONG!! Now I do a practice before my actual material lol
I loved your idea! I bought t shirt knit interlock fabric and cut pieces to float on the cut away stabilizer. I now have a binder with see through pockets and put my samples in the binder! Thanks so much for the wonderful idea! Love your videos!
You really helped me! I set aside my embroidery designs and went on to my iron on and sublimation designs because I was stumped by this. now I know what I need to do! Thank you!!! I just couldn't imagine or bring myself to using my high quality embroidery t-shirts to create mockups. No one could help me with this but you did!! Thanks again!!!
Very clever thank you so much!!!!😀😀😀I'm just starting and was trying to figure out how I could save money with making my photos without it being so costly!! I just purchased a piece of felt at hobby lobby to stitch an applique but didnt think of this🙃🙂
Thank you this tip just helped me so much and saved me tons of money. Thinking I had to buy tons of shirts just for samples. Your awesome new subscriber here!
Such a great idea, trying to decide on buying a large machine and getting started in a small business, so your info means alot to me, thank you!❤ those samples were also very cute!
This is an excellent idea. I just got an SE1900 and need to learn embroidery. I was thinking of using a box of knit shop rags I got from Amazon. They’re huge! And when I’m good enough to open an Etsy shop, I can use them for samples. Because who’s going to know they’re not really tshirts. 😉
I am so happy and sad about this video. Happy because I feel like you just saved me ALOT of money. Sad because I didn’t see this video sooner! Ugh!!! Just bought 10 aprons. Made 10 samples. Now I have 10 aprons. I’m crying on the inside.
I use the knit fabric from Joann. I want to see how it stitch out in knit fabric than on a felt because felt is a more sturdy material and the design will turns out better than knit fabric so I like to see how it is on knit fabric so I know for sure it will stitch out nicely on knit t shirt. I have a question if you make a sample using a fabric that you only have one of and if a customer order that design do you let customers know in the description that the fabric shown in the picture will vary depend on what you have on hand? Because I used fabric scraps or fabric that I only have one of and if customer order it then I won’t have the same fabric to make the exact design like the sample one for them. I hope you’re getting what I’m talking about.
Great idea using the knit fabric! I know some people say in their listings that the fabric may vary..... but I try to only make a sample with fabric I have enough of to make plenty of shirts with. A lot of customers do not read the description of your items and may not know that they won't be getting exactly what is pictured. Again, some people state that fabric may vary but for me personally, it is too stressful to not use exactly what is pictured. OR if you want you can do a "designers choice" or "mystery applique" possibly for slightly lower price if you are trying to use up some scrap fabric that you don't have enough for more shirts! Hope this helps!
www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Basic-Crafts/Felt/Felt-Sheet/p/80957563# Here is the link to the one I use! Some people use white cotton interlock fabric as their samples but I prefer this felt ! Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for your comment!! I am not sure how felt would hold up with the heat of a heat press. With HTV your best way to do a sample is with a "mock up" where either you buy a picture of the item you are using blank or you take a picture of the item yourself and place the image of the design onto the picture! I hope this helps!
