How fkin sad is it to lose to plups 2018 fox as supposedly the 2nd best fox in the world in 2024. It both amazes me and saddens me that plup can pop out of no where and just win. Idk if it’s saying plup is just that good or melee just isn’t progressing as much as we think. I’d like to believe the latter because if it’s the former then plup is literally just the best melee player of all time
Its more the former but also no one plays like plup. If you dont play him for a year and then get thrown into him at a top 8 I wouldnt expect you to adapt to his style and beat him in a best of 5 unless you literally are the best player in the world (zain/cody).
@@justsomeguy7042 2018 is arbitrary but it’s more like I guess 2019 or 2020? Idk, just whenever the last time plup was actually serious. It’s clear he hasn’t been serious about melee in several years. That’s my point.
plup was honestly the new school counter this tourney. neither moky nor jmook could really get their groove going and plup just destroyed them slow and steady w solid fundamentals
It is really neat to see right? It's really cool seeing Plup make overall better decisions (especially around edge guards) in this match that slow Moky down this set.
Where M2K understood each character, Plup GETS each character. The difference being that M2K would know why a character is strong or weak in a situation, Plup just plays the character as the character is meant to be played. It gives me PPMD vibes when he's online, despite him not playing any of the characters that PP plays
