I've used a lot of those methods. Great video. I'd tend to build catwalks with wool over the city to spot chests and sculk shriekers. Some torches are nice to light up the way from below when you are trying to work your way back if you get stuck at ground level. Endless nightvision potions are always a plus. I've even built an army of iron golems and created a warden trap to drag back summoned wardens to. That was more just a fun goof. Fastest, easiest, and most fun for me has been. Find a city. Dig about 30 blocks away from the city. Build a little base. Store all your gear, tons of swiftness and night vision potions. Take food, a NV potion, a swiftness potion, and a E5/U3/M1 hoe. Hit the swiftness and then hit your NV potion. Set a timer for 7 minutes and just run like a maniac around the city. Hit every sculk sensor and shrieker you can find. Charge the shriekers. Break as many as you can while the warden crawls out and then run off to another part of the city. Watch your food and just keep sprinting. The wardens will never be "angry", so it's pretty easy to just leave them. With NV, the darkness doesn't really cause any issues if you take off before getting the full effect. If you get scared run back to your base. Dropping torches all along the "roads" can be nice if you get caught out and about when NV falls off and you don't have a spare. It doesn't take too long before you've gotten like 90% of the shriekers. Then just build some wool catwalks and start looking for hard to spot shriekers you might be setting off that are tucked in someplace odd. Honestly the nice hoe is optional after a bit. You'll be drowning in them after awhile. E5/U3/M1 shears are actually nice for collecting vast amounts of wool from the city. The whole process is really pretty durn easy and I just run around with all my gear on . . . until the random time I die. Then I learn nothing and grab up my gear and do it all over again. Next goof is to try and see if I can pit wardens against a wither.
Rather than fly away from the warden in the dark and blindly slam into walls, try digging safety tunnels around the outside of the city 2 blocks high and 20 deep to retreat into when the warden arrives
Other mobs won't spawn in a warden, even if they are detected. One way to deal with mobs in the deep dark is to spwan some iron golems. When 1.18 came out and mobs were spawning regularly in the deep dark, this was my method. Having something else get detected by sensors is a good way to know where they are. Also i bring wool blocks and carpet, the latter making it easy to step down onto another surface. I have never spawned a warden but I am super patient and just give myself the time to reset the meter. Loved your tips!
I’ve raided quite a few ancient cities at this point, so I loved every minute of this. My condolences on that double Warden summon. But yeah, the annotations were correct. It’s 4 shrieks that spawns the warden and a 10 minute period to lose each strike. And then that last clip is why I always check to see if I have an escape route if I think I’m about to trigger a Warden to spawn. One ancient city I raided had a hidden shrieker utterly surrounded by sensors and I ended up summoning a Warden. Luckily I had already gotten all the loot and had planned a direct route out of there with my elytra. Ah. Memories.
I've raided 3 ancient cities now. It definitely becomes easier as you practice. Just beware of the icebox. There's pressure plates, noteblocks and there can even be a shrieker inside that you might not get to without breaking a block.
I don't need a recovery compass, finding where I died is easy, I died once slamming into the wall though, found all my stuff except the items I was wearing, it was all out in the open easy to see. Some sort of bug deleted them from the game... or they somehow glitched through the wall/cieling maybe.
5:15 I don't understand your hatred toward Infinity Bows. Bows have a base durability of 384, combined with Unbreaking III it makes an average durability of 1536 arrows shot. This is equivalent of 24 stacks or arrows. There is no way you would need a WHOLE shulker worth of arrows to loot an Ancient City (even 2 or 3). 1 infinity bow + 1 arrow will be wayyy easier for inventory management. Use that same shulker to store the loot instead !
Looted and entire ancient city with just 4 stacks of wool, an iron axe, shield ,sword, Pickaxe, chest plate, and leather boots. I’ve mastered looting the cities All you need to do if find all the shriekers and cover them in wool, and just like that, warden won’t spawn. Or if you prepare in advanced there’s this tutorial to make a red stone contraption that prevents the warden from spawning.
So yeah you may have figured this out by now, but never take your main set of armor into an ancient city. Not because of the glitch you experienced but because it can't do anything to help you against a Warden. It's attacks ignore all protection effects and armor ratings. The most you should ever take is some old boots with feather falling II or better. Most of the time you can find leggings with swift sneak already in them.
Can anyone help, I’m working my way through a city covering the Shreekers with wool but some of them are still going off? I can see the sound waves coming up through the wool, how is this possible?
Bro I need a help I thought only one warden exist in one world so I gave nametag to a warden and tried to raid another ancient city with triggering sculk sheikers but it went worse warden spawned and killed me now what I have to do 😢😢
I really don't know where the "only one warden exists" myth comes from. There can be only 1 in a certain radius though. Best you can do is wait 1 minute, so they despawn. That gives you 4 minutes to get your stuff back. Good luck!
