In this Short, number 8 in the series, I explain when you can listen to which shortwave bands.
A number of people have asked me about shortwave listening - what it is, why do it, how to do it? I created a series of shorts and a special playlist, available here: shorturl.at/dkoy9 to provide some very simple answers, to those who are interested in shortwave listening but know nothing about it. SWL is a really fun hobby that anyone can do, anywhere in the world. You do not need the internet, you just need a small radio and some batteries, then you can pick up SW signals from all around the world.

I still wonder sometimes why the 15 meter band to the 10 meter band isn't used anymore. Same with the 90 and 120 meter band, but those are SSB. Meyerton's shortwave transmitter site shut down in 2019. It used to carry many stations on shortwave, but I can't believe they closed it. What happened to the transmitter equipment and antennas? I guess we will never know, unless someone goes there and spreads news of what is going on.

True about Meyerton. They do still transmit MW from there, like Radio Pulpit and Radio Veritas.

@@swlistening Ah. So the antennas are used for medium wave. Only for Veritas and Pulpit it seems.
